This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Abstract Rail systems are gradually becoming the most desirable form of transit infrastructure around the world, partly because they are becoming more environmentally friendly compared with airplanes and automobiles. This paper examines the place of emerging countries in this move of imple- menting modern rail system that will eventually enhance the realization of a low-carbon society. Network model, transportation model and linear programming algorithms are used to model the present urban rail transport system in Nigeria, as an emerging country, in order to optimize it. Operational research methods, including simplex method and MODI, with the aids of computer software (excel solver and LIP solver) were adopted to solve the resulting models. The results showed that optimization of rail transport system will not only reduce carbon emission but also bring about economic development which is required for the eradication of prevalent poverty in these emerging countries. The Data on Periodical (Weekly) Market at the End of the 19th Century in Egypt -The cases of Qaliubiya, Sharqiya and Daqahliya Provinces Hiroshi Kato Some geographers and historians are concerned with periodical market, which they define as the place of economic transactions peculiar to so called "peasant society. In Egypt, which is, as well known, a typical hydraulic society, periodical market, that is weekly market (α1- siiq al-usbu i) in the Islamic world, still has the important economic functions in rural areas at the present, as well as it had in the past. The author is now collecting the data on Egyptian weekly market from the 19th century to the present, based upon source materials on one hand, and field research on the other. The aim of this paper is to present some statistical and ge0- graphical data on Egyptian weekly market at the end of the 19th century to the researchers who are interested in periodical market in agrarian society, before the intensive study, which the author is planning in the future, on the economic functions of Egyptian weekly market and their transformation in the process of the modernization of Egyptian society. The source material from which the data are collected is A. Boinet, Geographie Econ0- mique et Administrative de I'Egypte, Basse-Egypte I, Le Caire, 1902. It is the results of the population census in 1897 and the agrarian census maybe took in 1898 and 1899, being annexed to the population census in the previous year. The data are arranged village by village, and contain the statistics on cultivated area, crops, planted trees, animals, industry, traffic by rail- road, and transportation by the Nile and canals, and the descriptive informations and remarks on school, canal, railroad, market, post office and so on. -

Read Full License Page 1/16 Abstract Relative effects of spatio-seasonal variations on the quantitative and qualitative status of phytoplankton in 20 sampling locations of Temsah Lake were examined during winter and summer 2018. The study reveals that the population structure consisted of 105 species from 69 genera, with an annual average of 924155 cell/L. Bacillariophyceae formed the most dominant group with 42.45% of total phytoplankton with an average of 372379 cell/L. Navicula creptocephala was the most abundant species representing 19.16% of total diatoms and 7.78% of the whole standing crop with an annual average of 376879 cell/L. The highest phytoplankton abundance was in the Northern locations. Phytoplankton density showed a negative correlation of pH, temperature and TDS and positively correlated with nutrient content such as nitrate and silicate. In general, summer showed high indices value compared to winter and the diversity index in the current study ranged in moderate pollution range. The polluted state of the aquatic ecosystem in El-Temsah Lake during summer is comparatively higher than winter during the study period. -
