We report directly to the Board of County Commissioners, are subject to open meeting laws and county budgeting procedures. The fair board is a unit of county government and is not an independent taxing district. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month from 7:00 – 9:00 pm in the commissioner’s room of the court house and our meetings are always open to the public.

This event is open to the public in the Fair Building. Hapi Trails Open Trail Class Saturday, August 6th - 2pm - 5pm – Outdoor Arena

The public is invited to compete in an open trail class event sponsored by Hapi Trails. The trail class tests the maneuverability of a horse and rider through an obstacle course. Mandatory obstacles include one in which the rider will open, pass through and close a gate. Scoring is based on the horse’s willingness, ease and grace in negotiating the course. The other two mandatory obstacles are riding over at least four logs or poles and one backing obstacle. Entry fee $15. Riders can enter multiple times. Proceeds from the event will help pay for the Hapi Trails winter hay supply. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 competitors in each division. In this project area of interest, youth learn… different aspects of dog fancy: about different breeds, colors, and groups of dogs: careers involving dogs: how to care for, groom, and show a dog: proper nutrition, first aid, and health of dogs: the names for dog anatomy and lingo used in dog industries: diseases, anatomy, and behavior of dogs: how to teach behaviors and change bad habits of dogs and puppies.

The 4-H Dog Show highlights skills in exercises that youth have learned with their dogs such as heel, sit, stay, down and figure 8 while on and off the leash. In showmanship classes, youth show off their grooming talents and knowledge.

The goal of the 4-H Shooting and Archery program is to teach safe and responsible use of firearms and archery equipment including MOST CASH sound decision making, self-discipline and Open Class CREATIVE PRIZE concentration. As youth step up to the firing line, they listen for commands to fire at will while taking aim at the bulls eye. Concessions are available at this event.

The Exhibit Hall features 4-H and Open Class entries in a variety of categories. The 4-H Shooting Open Class of the Teton Valley Fair gives local residents the opportunity to show off their talents and compete for ribbons. Working cattle with horses is very rewarding for the rider and the horse. Horses, like humans, need to have a job and a goal to achieve. In this program, youth and leaders are encouraged FREE to learn about natural horsemanship. Horse and handler bond through communication and spectator understanding of the horse’s natural instincts. event Youth are involved in western horsemanship activities beyond traditional show ring. They learn age-old techniques of handling livestock while on horseback. They also learn leadership and responsibility that come through being engaged in 4-H. Everyone gains insight into the world of cowboys and buckaroos. The 4-H Working Ranch Horse Show features youth ages 8 – 18 enrolled in the Working Ranch 4-H Club. The 4-H Poultry & Rabbit show features animals raised by local 4-H kids to compete in breed or market classes. The show is divided into two parts – first, the animals are judged on their breed or market qualifications; second, the kids are judged in a showmanship class on the grooming of their animal, knowledge of their breed and ability to show their animal to its best advantage. Rabbit showmanship requires the contestant to perform a demonstration of the rabbit’s body and knowledge of the disqualifications for each part. Poultry that is judged in the market class is eligible to be sold at the livestock auction on Friday, August 12 at 6:00 pm.
