ICBA PETITION IN SUPPORT OF THE ECONOMIC GROWTH, REGULATORY RELIEF, AND CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT (S. 2155) Petition to Enact Community Bank Regulatory Relief Immediately We, the undersigned community bankers, directors, employees and customers from across the nation, respectfully urge the U.S. House of Representatives to immediately pass legislation to provide community banks with regulatory relief. We are strongly encouraged by Senate passage of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155), a robust package of community bank regulatory relief measures that will strengthen economic growth, job creation, and consumer protection. The administration has noted that the president would sign S. 2155 into law if sent to him. Community bank regulatory relief has been debated exhaustively in each chamber over a period of years. Further delay or inaction could derail its current momentum. Without relief from costly and disproportionate regulatory burden, industry consolidation will continue apace and permanently change the financial services landscape to the detriment of consumers and small business borrowers. Regulatory relief for community banks will revitalize lending and investment in local economies across every congressional district. It will spur job creation and strengthen the economic recovery. We urge you to seize the moment that presents itself today and immediately pass community bank regulatory relief that can be signed into law by the president.
