2021 PARTICIPANT INSTRUCTIONS WELCOME Hello and welcome to the 52nd Running of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race! On behalf of Atlanta Track Club, we are excited to have you join us as we celebrate this Atlanta tradition. Atlanta Track Club, our event sponsors, our organizing committee, the City of Atlanta, and more than 3,500 dedicated volunteers are look- ing forward to making this year’s event unforgettable for all participants. Since the cancellation of the in-person run- ning of the Peachtree in 2020, we have been working closely with the mayor’s office of emergency management, the city’s police and fire departments, Fulton County Emergency Management Agency, emergency medical service units, and other health and safety organizations to establish race guidelines and procedures related to Covid-19, weather, and other possible issues to ensure a safe event for all. We ask that you pay close attention to our Event Alert System, which is a color-coded flag system located at the start line and at hydration stations along the course and the finish. We ask all participants to respect our mask requirement in the start and finish line areas and remind you that no mask is required during the race itself. All of us at Atlanta Track Club wish you well on the remainder of your training and we look forward to seeing you at the event! Be safe, Rich Kenah Race Director 1 BEFORE THE EVENT MAILED NUMBERS No race numbers will be shipped in 2021. All numbers must be picked up at the Peachtree Road Race Health & Fitness Expo presented by Publix or on race day at race number pickup. (Must have been pre-purchased) ATHLETES WITH DISABILITIES In order to serve all our athletes, Atlanta Track Club offers opportunities for Athletes with Disabilities (AWD). If you are an AWD registered for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, please email [email protected] to discuss what reasonable accommodations can be made based on your specific needs. Atlanta Track Club officials will provide reasonable accommodation to Athletes with Disabilities on an individualized basis. RUNWAY TO THE WORLD CONTEST This year’s Delta Runway to the World Contest gave Atlanta Journal-Constitution participants and anyone who registered, or attempted to register, for the race by May 1, 2021 the opportunity for a grand adventure. This year, we are sending our winner on a trip to a place of their choosing anywhere in the U.S. - including Hawaii or Alaska! The winner and one guest will receive round-trip tickets on Delta Air Lines. The winner of the contest will be announced July 4 on 11 Alive’s broadcast and on Atlanta Track Club’s social media channels. DEFERRED ENTRIES (IN-PERSON ONLY) If you will not be participating in this year’s Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race but would like to take part next year, your entry may be deferred. While fees are not waived, a deferred entry does ensure you’ll have a spot in next year’s Peachtree if you follow the steps below. Before completing the deferral process, please note: The deadline to request a deferment is July 2, at 11:59 p.m. • As race fees are used for registration expenses, they are not refundable or transferable. You will need to pay fees when registering for the 2022 event. Look for an email containing the 2022 online registration link for deferred registration in mid-March • If your email address changes prior to next year’s registration, you must let us know your new address in order to receive the registration link. • As Atlanta Track Club members have guaranteed acceptance of registration provided they register during the specified member registration period, they do not need to request deferred entry. • Deferred entries are only valid for one year following your initial registration. Deferral step-by-step Instructions can be viewed here. 2 RACE NUMBERS TIMING Participants in the in-person 2021 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race will be timed using the ChronoTrack B-Tag timing system. The lightweight timing tags are attached to the back of your race number and should not be removed. Do not bend or fold your race number, as the timing device may become inactive. The B-tag records each participant’s time as they cross the start line, and their net finish time is calculated when the participant crosses the finish line. To be included in official results, you must cross over the start, 5K and finish line timing mats. Those who do not register all three of these times will be disqualified and excluded from official results. Do not wear layers, such as a fuel belt, over your bib and do not wear your bib on your back, as this can cause your timing tag to not be read. Wearing your bib improperly could result in improper scoring and possible disqualification.
