The classical music industry may be changing, but dying it certainly is not. This can also be demonstrated by the wealth of recordings shortlisted for the Gramophone Awards this year. Many of you will now have seen the winners announced and special congratulations must go to the Pavel Haas Quartet - very deserved winners of the Disc of the Year with their recording of two quartets by Dvorak. A reminder of each category winner has been provided on page 10, with reduced prices available on all for a limited time.     MUSIKPRODUKTION Press Info: Wilhelm Furtwängler Berlin Philharmonic MASTERst RELEASE THE COMPLETE ORIGINAL TAPES RIAS RECORDINGS 1 Live in Berlin (1947 - 1954) 12 CD-Box + Bonus-CD The majority of the concerts given by Wilhelm Furtwängler and the Berlin Philharmonic between 1947 and 1954 were recorded by the RIAS Berlin; all of these recordings are documented in this boxed set. The original tapes from the RIAS archives have been made available for the first time for this edition so these CDs also offer unsurpassed technical quality. Furthermore, some of the recordings are presented for the very first time, such as the Fortner Violin Concerto with Gerhard Taschner. These RIAS recordings are documents of historical value: they contain a major part of Furtwängler’s late oeuvre as a conductor, which was characterised by a high level of focus in different respects. Focus on repertoire which has at its core the symphonic works of Beethoven, Brahms and Bruckner and is supplemented by works by Bach and Handel and also by topical composers of the time, including Hindemith, Blacher and Fortner: artists who were counted amongst the members of “moderate modernism” and who were not perceived to have been tainted by the cultural politics of the National Socialists. Focus was also a guiding principle in Furtwängler’s concert programmes which always feature a particular idea. His interpretations also demonstrate extremely high levels of focus: concentration and focus for him meant a contem- porary decoding, a re-creation, which would express the fundamental content of a work. A number of works – the Third, Fifth and Sixth Symphonies by Ludwig van Beethoven as well as Johannes Brahms’ Third Symphony – are included in two interpretations.

    Das Trio Eclettica, bestehend aus der Pianistin Giuseppina Coni, der Violinistin Giulia Cerra und der Cellistin Valeria Sirangelo, wurde 2012 in der Kammermusikklasse von Maestro Pierpaolo Maurizzi am Konservatorium A. Boito in Parma gegrùndet. Das Trio besuchte Meisterkurse bei Rainer Honeck (Konzertmeister der Wiener Philharmoniker), Yves Savary (Solocellist des Bayerischen Staatsorchesters) und Wolfgang Klos (Professor fùr Viola an der Universitàt fìir Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien), und wurde ausgewàhlt an der ECMA Session in Fiesole, unter der Leitung von Hatto Bayerle, Johannes Meissl, Susan Tomes und Enrico Bronzi teilzunehmen. Das Trio konzertierte u.a. im A u d i t o r i u m Principe Raimondo of D u i n o , dem Revoltella Museum von Triest, dem Auditorium del Carmine in Parma, beim ,,S. Giacomo Festival" und der «Fondazione Alma Mater" in Bologna. Im Màrz 2013 wurde dem Trio Eclettica das ,,Bruno Premuda Stipendium" zuerkannt (jury: R. Zanettovich, G. Vidusso und I. Rabaglia). 2013 hat das Trio den ersten Preis des XVI. Internationalen Wettbewerbes «Pietro Argento" und im Rahmen der ,,XIV International Chamber Music Competition" Trio di Trieste" den ,,Young Award" far junge vielversprechende Kùnstlerlnnen gewonnen. Dabei wurde das Ensemble von , der J u r y besonders far die beste Auffùhrung des Werkes ,,Rosa amara" v o n Rocco i de Già gewùrdigt. Derzeit arbeitet das Trio mit M° Renato Zanettovich und M° Pierpaolo Maurizzi am Konservatorium A. Boito in Parma und mit dem Trio Trio Eclettica di Parma im Rahmen der International Chamber Music A c a d e m y of Duino. With no published edition of Kaprálová’s String Quartet, currently available instrumental parts and recordings vary from the original autograph. This study focuses on historical and theoretical analysis of the work, editorial suggestions, and performance issues.
