PARKS AND RECREATION 2021 FALL QUARTER BROCHURE FALL QUARTER REGISTRATION BEGINS AUGUST 2 auburnalabama.org/parks GENERAL INFORMATION ABBREVIATION GUIDE REGISTRATION GUIDELINES Registration will be held weekdays from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Harris Center, starting August 2. Registration will be accepted in-person only. No phone FEE/PAYABLE registration. Registration will only be accepted from participants who live or work COA City of Auburn in the City of Auburn during the first two weeks of registration, August 2-18. Unless otherwise noted, Program fees are listed in bold immediately following registration will be taken Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Harris Center. Participants for classes paid to the INSTRUCTOR EO Every Other must be paid at the first class meeting. REFUNDS: Refunds will be given only when a participant cancels from an activity before FACILITIES/LOCATIONS the first class or tryout day. The Administrative Office must be notified in order to receive a refund. If registration does not secure the minimum number required for a class to be AA Auburn Arboretum held, the class will be canceled and a refund mailed. To purchase bronze markers or lots, AJHS Auburn Junior High School arrange for burial or for more information, please pick up the cemetery brochure or APL Auburn Public Library contact the Harris Center at (334) 501-2930. ASC Auburn Softball Complex PICNIC FACILITIES: Picnic facilities at Duck Samford, Kiesel, Town Creek, Bowden, ASF Auburn Soccer Fields - Shug Jordan Fields Sam Harris, Martin Luther King and Felton Little Parks are available for reservations. To ATPS Auburn Technology Park South - Lake reserve a park, contact the Harris Center at (334) 501-2930. BCC Boykin Community Center RENT-A-FACILITY: City of Auburn Parks and Recreation facilities and parks are BCG Boykin Community Gym available to the public for rental. Rental fees vary depending on the amount of space, CSP Chewacla State Park equipment, and type of facility needed. DSP Duck Samford Park NOTES: Participants in all Auburn Parks and Recreation programs must be toilet trained. DTWN Downtown Auburn If participants are not picked up on time from programs, a late fee will be assessed. FBRC Frank Brown Recreation Center SERVICE FEES: A $30 service fee will be charged on all checks returned by the bank. FLP Felton Little Park ACCOMMODATIONS: In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans HC Hubert & Grace Harris Senior Center with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”), the City of Auburn, Alabama does not discriminate IPT Indian Pines Tennis Courts on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities. THERAPEUTICS .......................22 FACILITY DIRECTORY ..............24 ITTY BITTY AUBURN SCAVENGER HUNT It’s time to break out the thinking caps and magnifying glasses for Itty Bitty Auburn in celebration of Alabama’s birthday! Beginning Monday, August 2nd, participants can pick up a worksheet for the scavenger hunt at any Parks and Recreation facility or find it on the City of Auburn website, printed in select newspapers and on Facebook. The worksheet features 25 itty-bitty sites in various Auburn locations, along with four (4) bonus sites. Participants will find these sites and write the location on the worksheet. Completed worksheets must be turned in to the Harris Center by Tuesday, August 31 at 5 p.m. To be eligible for prizes, the worksheet must have correct answers for ALL itty bitty sites. Those who complete all 25 sites correctly and answer the four bonus questions correctly on the worksheet will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing. Winners will be announced and contacted on Friday, September 3. To stay up-to-date on the Itty Bitty Auburn scavenger hunt, join the Facebook event group at facebook.com/CityofAuburnAL. Hints regarding each of the sites will be published to the City’s Facebook event group and on the City of Auburn’s Instagram page (@cityofauburnal). Bring your lawn chair, blanket, kick back and enjoy the music. A food vendor will be on site with great tasting items for you to purchase to help you enjoy a stress free, calm fall evening with great music. Pets (on leashes) are welcome, as well. Join Auburn Parks and Recreation for the best Halloween party in town on Friday, October 29th from 6 – 8 p.m. in downtown Auburn. This is a fantastic alternative to door- to-door trick-or-treating, with downtown merchants handing out candy and plenty of treats for everyone! There will be music, provided by our special spooky entertainment for the evening, and the annual Costume Contest. This event is FREE and open to the public. Don’t miss all the fun!
