KIM WILDE - Here Come the Aliens KIM WILDE - Here Come The Aliens Kim Wilde eroberte 1981 mit dem weltweiten Hit "Kids In America" die Musikszene. Dies führte zu einer umwerfenden Karriere mit über 30 Millionen verkauften Platten, verteilt auf 12 Alben und einigen der denkwürdigsten Hits der 80er Jahre, darunter "Chequered Love", "Cambodia" und "You Keep Me Hangin On" (Platz #1 in den USA), „You Came“, „Never Trust A Stranger“ und „Four Letter Word“. Bei den BPI Awards 1983 (Vorläufer der Brit Awards) wurde Kim Wilde zur Besten Britischen Sängerin gewählt. Außerdem war sie als Support-Act auf Michael Jacksons "Bad" -Tour in Europa dabei und spielte so vor über 2 Millionen Menschen innerhalb von 5 Monaten. Darüber hinaus begleitete Kim Wilde David Bowie auf seiner legendären europäischen Greatest Hits-Tour 1990 als Support. In den 90ern war Kim weiterhin im Rampenlicht mit den Alben "Love Moves" und "Love Is" mit Singles wie "Love Is Holy" und dem Bee Gees Klassiker "If I Can Not Have You" aus "The Singles Collection 1981" -1993 '. Kim Wilde legte eine Pause von der Musik ein um zu heiraten, Kinder zu bekommen und ihre Liebe zur Gartenarbeit wieder zu entdecken, bevor sie 2001 zu verschiedenen Festivals und Tourneen zurück auf die große Bühne kehrte. Diese Auftritte schlossen erstmals im Jahr 2003 Australien ein. 2006 wechselte die Sängerin zum Plattenlabel EMI nach Deutschland und veröffentlichte das "Never Say" – Album. Nach mehreren Chart- Erfolgen mit den Singles des Albums waren Kim und ihre Band erneut on the road und spielten im Jahr 2007 über 50 Shows, darunter zwei Tourneen und verschiedene Festivals im Jahr 2008. 2009 folgte eine weitere Europa-Tournee, gefolgt von dem "Come Out And Play" -Album im Jahr 2010, das in Deutschland und der Schweiz in die Top 10 stieg, gefolgt von einer ausverkauften Europatournee 2011. 2011 erschien auch "Snapshots", Kims Album mit ihren Lieblings-Cover-Versionen. Es folgte eine Tournee in 2012 auf der sie auch ihre größten Hits spielte. 2013 veröffentlichte Kim das wunderschöne und von der Kritik gefeierte "Wilde Winter Songbook"- Album, das ihre liebsten Weihnachts- und Winter-inspirierten Songs enthielt, sowohl Coverversionen als auch Originalmaterial. Während der BBC Sender Radio Two an Weihnachten 'Hey Mister Snowman' spielte, spielte Kim einige ausgewählte Weihnachtsshows in Großbritannien und den Niederlanden, die sie im darauf folgenden Jahr mit der Veröffentlichung einer Special Edition des Albums wiederholte. 2015 und 2016 setzte Kim Wilde ihre populäre UK-Radioshow auf Magic FM fort und spielte einige fantastische Auftritte auf Festivals in ganz Europa. Sie tourte zweimal durch Holland und im November 2016 folgte erneut eine Tournee durch Australien – zusammen mit Howard Jones. 2017 startete Kim mit einer Reihe von äußerst erfolgreichen Festival-Shows im Sommer, gefolgt von einer ausverkauften Tour durch Holland im Herbst. Im Dezember spielte sie ihre "Wilde Wild Xmas Show" in Manchester und präsentierte alle ihre Hits sowie die Xmas Single "F U Kristmas!", die Kim zusammen mit „Lawnmower Deth“ aufgenommen hat. Am 16.03.2018 erscheint das neue Album „Here Come The Aliens“ – Kim’s 14. Studioalbum. Mit den brandneuen Songs und ihren Hits geht Kim Wilde bereits ab März 2018 auf Europa-Tournee und erstmals seit 30 Jahren tourt sie in UK. Hinzu kommen viele Sommer - Festivals bis Kim Wilde dann im Oktober 2018 auch endlich wieder live in Deutschland zu sehen sein wird. .

Mancuso © 2018 Steven Robert Bellavia All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Andrew Schocket, Advisor This dissertation examines the experiences of the final Cold War generation. I define this cohort as a subset of Generation X born between 1965 and 1971. The primary focus of this dissertation is to study the ways this cohort interacted with the three messages found embedded within the Cold War us vs. them binary. These messages included an emphasis on American exceptionalism, a manufactured and heightened fear of World War III, as well as the othering of the Soviet Union and its people. I begin the dissertation in the 1970s, - during the period of détente- where I examine the cohort’s experiences in elementary school. There they learned who was important within the American mythos and the rituals associated with being an American. This is followed by an examination of 1976’s bicentennial celebration, which focuses on not only the planning for the celebration but also specific events designed to fulfill the two prime directives of the celebration. As the 1980s came around not only did the Cold War change but also the cohort entered high school. Within this stage of this cohorts education, where I focus on the textbooks used by the cohort and the ways these textbooks reinforced notions of patriotism and being an American citizen.

This jazz dialect was developed in the decade following the Nazi occupation of Norway, when Norwegians utilized jazz as a subtle tool of resistance to Nazi cultural policies. This dialect was further enriched through the Scandinavian residencies of African American free jazz pioneers Don Cherry, Ornette Coleman, and George Russell, who tutored Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek. Garbarek is credited with codifying the “Nordic sound” in the 1960s and ‘70s through his improvisations on numerous albums released on the ECM label. Throughout this document I will define, describe, and contextualize this sound concept. Today, the Nordic sound is embraced by Norwegian musicians and cultural institutions alike, and has come to form a significant component of modern Norwegian artistic identity. This document explores these dynamics and how they all contribute to a Norwegian jazz scene that continues to grow and flourish, expressing this jazz identity in a world marked by increasing globalization.
