If anyone finds anyone is indulging in CRIME or any POLICE OFFICIAL indulging in CORRUPTION; please inform the Chandigarh Police at Crime Stopper-WhatsApp Number 7087239010. The citizens are invited to share any Crime and Corruption related complaints/information and suggestions on the above WhatsApp number. They can send photos/videos of any illegal activities. The information provided will be kept secret. 10. 01.11.2015 Chandigarh Police organize inaugural Shaheed Sucha Singh Memorial Cricket Match (20-20 format) between Chandigarh Police XI and Chandigarh Press Club XI in memory of Shaheed Sucha Singh, Inspector (30-04-1976 to 08-06-2013) who sacrificed his life during duty on 08-06-2013. The match was played on the grounds of Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. Sh. R. P. Upadhyay, IPS, IGP, UT presented the memento to the family members of Shaheed Sucha Singh. Beside this, during the session Sh. A. S. Cheema, IPS, DIG/UT has also announced new amended standing order regarding recruitment of constable. 11. 01.12.2015 Promotion of 245 Constables of Chandigarh Police to the Rank of Head Constables. 12. 02.07.2016 Know Your Case scheme Know your case scheme was organized on 02.07.2016, all SHOs as well as, I/Os, and In- charge of other units i.e. CIA, Cyber Crime cell, CAW, Operation Cell staff and Traffic Inspectors were present in their respective police stations/units and Traffic Lines, Sector- 29, Chandigarh to attend the complainants. Total 103 persons visited the police stations and units to know the status of their cases and complaints. 13. 02.07.2016 Know Your Case scheme Know your case scheme was organized on 02.07.2016, all SHOs as well as, I/Os, and In- charge of other units i.e. CIA, Cyber Crime cell, CAW, Operation Cell staff and Traffic Inspectors were present in their respective police stations/units and Traffic Lines, Sector- 29, Chandigarh to attend the complainants. Total 103 persons visited the police stations and units to know the status of their cases and complaints. 14. 02.10.2015 The „Swachh Bharat Abhiyan‟ campaign was carried out in all Police Stations & Police Posts, Police Lines, Sector-26, PCR office and other units. All the units have started Swachh Abhiyan, today by cleaned up their offices, premises, parking area as well as surroundings. Lots of waste articles and other garbage were removed and old record was being weeded out. Economic Offence Wing has also joined Swachh Abhiyan and cleaned up their offices and record was arranged. All SHOs and I/c Police Posts and Incharge of other units with staff have participated in the campaign. The campaign was done under the supervision of concerned SDPO & DSP. The Abhiyan was also started in Reserve Battalion situated at Sarangpur, Chandigarh, in which police officials and other police staff participated in this campaign. 15. 02.11.2016 Flag off 119 Motor Cycles (95 Bajaj Pulsar Motor Cycles + 24 Bullet Motor Cycles) To strengthen and modernize of Chandigarh Police, 119 Motor Cycles (95 Bajaj Pulsar Motor Cycles + 24 Bullet Motor Cycles) are inducted in Chandigarh Police. Today, His Excellency Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh flagged-off 119 Motor Cycles from Punjab Raj Bhawan, Sector 6, Chandigarh, which are ready to be inducted in different units of Chandigarh Police. Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Advisor to Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Inspector General of Police, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. A.S. Cheema, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, UT, Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, UT, Sh. Eish Singhal, IPS, SP- Headquarters and Security & Traffic and other senior police officers were present on this occasion. These vehicles are equipped with all essential equipments and will improve the efficiency of Chandigarh Police. 16. 03.07.2017 A special drive against consuming liquor at public place was carried out at different parts of the city. Under this drive total 17 different cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act have been registered in different police stations of Chandigarh in which total 17 persons were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. All accused later on bailed out. The drive will be continuing in future. The detail of cases U/S 68-1-14 registered in different police Stations: - PS-Sarangpur= 1 case, PS/19=2 cases, PS/26=1 case, PS/Ind./Area=4 cases, PS/MM=2 cases, PS/Mauli Jagran=1 case, PS/IT Park=2 cases, PS/49=1 case, PS/39=2 case PS-Maloya= 1 cases. This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law. 17. 06.01.2015 Launch of Smart 24X7 App- An innovative technology based Smart 24X7 Mobile Safety App for Women & Senior Citizens inaugurated by Mrs. Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament, Chandigarh. 18. 06.02.2015 Launch of I CLICK- An innovative technology based public complaint filing system of Chandigarh police at Sector-22, Market, Chandigarh, which was inaugurated by Sh. Vijay Kumar Dev, IAS, Hon‟ble Advisor to the Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh. 19. 06.05.2016 Gold & Silver Medal by Equestrain team of Chandigarh Police

The equestrian team of Chandigarh Police has won one gold and three silver medals in Hax 3 event the Chandigarh Horse Show-2016 at 13th battalion, PAP, Chandigarh held from 29 April to 01 may-2016. Constable Raman won gold, C. Manish won two silvers and HGV Bhagwan won silver medal in different events. This Unique Scheme was launched by Chandigarh Police in 2013 under the title “Know your case” to bring greater transparency and accountability in police functioning. Under this scheme, citizen visits the concerned Police Stations/units and Traffic Lines Sector-29, Chandigarh to check the status of their cases and complaints. 21. 06.10.2015 A joint function by Senior Citizens & Chandigarh Police at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, Chandigarh was organized. 22. 06.10.2015 Chandigarh Police launched Mobile and Web based application “Lost Document/Article Reporting System” inaugurated by H.E. Governor Punjab and at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, Chandigarh. 23. 06.11.2015 Chandigarh Police and Senior Citizens Association collaboratively organized Cycle Rally on Environment Safety from near Karuna Sadan Sector 11, Chandigarh to Sukhna Lake. Senior Citzens, Police Officals & School Students participated in this 12 km cycle rally. 24. 08.11.2016 Flag off New 35 Maruti Suzuki ERTIGA Vehicles Today, Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh flagged-off 35 new vehicles (Maruti-Suzuki ERTIGA) ready to be inducted in Chandigarh Police working at Police Head Quarters, Sector 9, Chandigarh to strengthen and modernize of Chandigarh Police. Roshan Lal, SP/Communication/Law & order and other senior police officers were present on this occasion. Earlier, 30 Maruti-Suzuki ERTIGA Vehicles were inducted in PCR fleet. These vehicles are fitted with all essential equipments like wireless sets, first aid box etc and will improve efficiency of PCR unit in bringing down the response time for 100 number. 25. 09.05.2016 IGP rewarded Chandigarh Police Cricket Team

Chandigarh Police Cricket Team participated in CII Northern Region Regional Cricket Cup 2016. This prestigious Cricket Tournament was organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII Northern Region) in which total 24 corporate teams participated. Chandigarh Police Team emerged as winner of this cup under the captainship of DSP Rajeev Ambasta and beaten CII (organizer team) in the finals. The match was played day & night under flood lights at Cricket Stadium, Sector-16, Chandigarh. To encourage the members of Chandigarh Police, the team members were rewarded with commendation certificate of first class with a cash component to boost their morale by I.G.P Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS. Sh. A.S. Cheema, IPS, D.I.G., U.T., Chandigarh and Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, SSP, U.T., Chandigarh were also present on this occasion.

26. 09.07.2017 In continuation of special drive against consuming liquor at public place which is being carried out by Chandigarh Police regularly in different parts of the city, Yesterday, under this drive total 46 cases were registered in different police stations in the jurisdiction of Chandigarh under 68-1-14 Excise Act in which 46 persons were arrested for consuming liquor at public places. The details of cases U/S 68-1-14 registered under different police stations are :- PS-03=2 cases, PS- 11=8 cases, PS-17=3 cases, PS-Sarangpur= 3 cases, PS-19= 3 cases, PS-26= 4 cases, PS-IA= 7 cases, PS-MM= 4 cases, PS-IT Park= 5 cases, PS-Mauli Jagran= 5 cases, PS-31= 1 case, PS-36= 1 case. Besides this, two cases under 61-1-14 Excise Act have been registered in PS-39, Chandigarh in which two persons resident of Sector 38, Chandigarh were arrested. Total 48 bottles of country liquor were recovered from their possession. Chandigarh Police is strict against every person found breaking the provisions of this law and for abiding the provisions of this law. If any Hotels, Motels, Restaurants, Dhaba, eating points will be found serving eatables to the persons who are drinking at public then strict action will be taken against owner of these Hotels, Motels, Restaurants, Dhaba, eating points according to the law. This drive of Chandigarh Police restrains the drunken driving & road rage as well as petty crime in the city. Moreover it is also discouraging social crime such as hooliganism, brawl, spontaneous quarrel which sometimes leads to serious offences also.

27. 09.10.2015 Chandigarh Police promoted 595 constables to the rank of Senior Constables; three (3) constables of wireless unit have also been promoted to the rank of Head Constable. 28. 10.1.2016 Keeping in view the Terrorist attack incident occurred in and forthcoming Republic Day celebrations. Today, under the supervision of SDPOs Central, East & South, all SHO's conducted a special search and checking in their area, naka's were also laid to check the vehicles, foot/vehicle patrolling at all the vital installations, busy markets, public parking areas, Cinemas, Malls, Bus Stands etc., this drive was conducted by the chandigarh police from 5.00pm to 8.00pm from the anti terrorist /sabotage point of view with help of Police Stations staff alongwith IRB Jawans. Anti sabotage/explosive checking teams also provided to all SDPOs. During the special drive, total number of 1651 vehicles were thoroughly checked. Challans were issued to 48 vehicles. Other than this, 5 vehicles were impounded under the provision of Motor vehicle Act. Chandigarh Police in collaboration with SARA Group organized the 5th DGP Invitational Golf Tournament. Today, it was high and mighty’s golf day out at the Panchkula Golf Club, as the inaugural edition of the 5th DGP Invitational Golf Tournament got a rollicking start at Panchkula Golf Club, Sector 3, Panchkula, Haryana. Over 103 prominent officers/participants are participating in this competition. Chandigarh Police made all necessary arrangements for the guest players coming from other state for participation. The tournament was inaugurated in full enthusiasm. Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest at the inaugural time. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, DGP, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Alok Kumar, IPS, DIG/UT, Sh. Eish Singhal, IPS, SSP/UT, Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, presented a Momentum to the His Excellency, Professor Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor, Haryana. 32. 12.01.2016 Chandigarh Police launched a Special Anti Drug Awareness Campaign in various Schools of Chandigarh for the bright future of students. All the SHOs and Beat Staff today visited some of the Schools during the morning assembly. They sensitize and educate the students against the misuse of narcotic drugs and the effects of drugs in their life. They also advised the students to keep themselves away from drugs and also educate them about the harmful/bad effect of drugs on health of smoker as well as passive smoker. During this campaign, all have been briefed about the demerits of drug and also appealed them to come forward for providing the information of drug peddler or drug addict if came to their notice, so that legal action will be initiated against them to curb the menace. 33. 12.03.2017 5th DGP Invitational Golf Tournament-2017 Concluded at Chandigarh Golf Club

Today, 5th DGP Invitational Golf Tournament concluded at Chandigarh Golf Club, Sector 6, Chandigarh. His Excellency, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor Punajb cum Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, DGP, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Alok Kumar, IPS, DIG/UT, Sh. Eish Singhal, IPS, SSP/UT, Sh. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP/Operations, members of Chandigarh Golf Club and other distinguished guests were present on this occasion. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, DGP, UT, Chandigarh delivered the welcome speech. Sh. D.P. Singh, SAARA Group delivered the Thank You speech. The Chandigarh Golf Club played a perfect host with its glorious vistas and unique challenges, as the gunshot started today at 8 a.m. Second day of tournament saw participation of over 120 prominent golfers of the region. The tournament was being organized by Chandigarh Police in collaboration with SARA Group. Chandigarh Police made all necessary arrangements for the guest players who came to Chandigarh from other states for participation. The tournament was played in good sports spirit and in full enthusiasm. Through this tournament the Chandigarh Police ensured interaction and engagement with the top corporate, bureaucrats and entrepreneurs of the region. The tournament is a part of the constant endeavor of Chandigarh Police to reach to various sections of the society through various programmes and events. The event concluded with a grand prize presentation ceremony along with High Tea. His Excellency, Sh. V.P. The 5th DGP Invitational Golf Tournament was sponsored by Indian Oil, Unitech, Chandigarh Club, Mahohar Infrastructure, Paul Merchant, Deepak Builder, Rishi Shipping, Kohinoor Foods, Star Global and Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyatt, Union Bank, Home Land, & Reliance Jio. 34. 12.03.2017 Achievements in 17th All India Police Shooting Competition (AIPDM) at Guwahati, The Shooting team of Chandigarh Police put in another gem in the field of sports & games by winning two medals in 17th All India Police Shooting Competition (AIPDM) held at Kahilipara, Guwahati, Assam. The shooters namely HC Holinder Kumar 2899/CP won the Gold Medal in yards snap shooting event of CARBINE/STEN GUN by scoring 59 points out of 60. Constable Baljeet Singh 468/CP won Bronze medal in 50 yards snap shooting event of REVOLVER/PISTOL shooting by scoring 53 points out of 60. Chandigarh police shooting team is participating in this competition under the supervision of SI Parminder Singh and till now succeeded in winning two medals. The competition is still in progress. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh, congratulated them for their achievements. 35. 12.12.2015 Total 80 persons visited in all police stations and units to know the status of their cases/complaints and challans. 36. 12.12.2015 On 11.12.2015, a special drive was organized by Chandigarh Police by sealing the City with the deployment of 782 police personals. Total 38 outer and 68 inner nakas were deployed regarding this city seal drive. This drive was from 5 PM to 9 PM. Total number of 8320 vehicles which were thoroughly checked. Challans were issued to 301 vehicles other than this, 13 vehicles were impounded under the provision of Motor vehicle Act. Such drive will continue in future also. 37. 13.03.2017 Chandigarh Police checking campaign in view of Holi Festival-2017. Keeping in view of Holi festival celebrations, Chandigarh Police made special arrangements to avoid any untoward incidents and to maintain Law & Order in the city. About 1231 police personnel from police stations/units, IRB, Traffic & PCR were deployed for law & order duties including 6 DSPs and 24 Inspectors. Special Nakas were laid by all Police Stations and Police Posts in connection with Holi Festival. Total 5391 vehicles were checked in which 396 vehicles were issued challan and 85 vehicles were impounded. Besides above, 20 Special Anti Drunken Driving Nakas were placed at various locations in city by the traffic staff. Total 346 Challan were issued by traffic staff for various traffic violations including 256 miscellaneous challan and 113 vehicles were impounded. 90 motorists were prosecuted for drunken driving under these nakas. 38. 14.01.2016 Chandigarh Police for noble cause helped the doctors of PGI Hospital for transporting the donated organ (liver & heart) from PGI to Technicla Airport, Chandigarh within a short spam of 12 minutes. For this purpose a special effort was made under the supervision of Sh. Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, DSP/Traffic, under the able guidance of Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, with the co-ordination of the team of the doctors of PGI Hospital, Chandigarh donated organs have been transported from PGI Chandigarh to the Technical Airport Chandigarh within 12 minutes successfully. A route of green corridor was taken from PGI to PGI Chowk, Matka Chowk, AP Chowk, TPT Light Point, Tribune Chowk, Poultry Farm Chowk, Airport Light Point to Technical Airport, Chandigarh. Inspector Geeta Devi lead as pilot of ambulance carrying donated organs and traffic staffs already deployed in routine has been channelized for this noble cause 39. 14.02.2016 Chandigarh Police has rolled out the 2nd Edition of its Annual Review Book. This Annual Review Book offers a fair and transparent overview of the Chandigarh Police and its working during the year 2015. This book has been compiled in clear and visible terms with suitable graphs and pictures to make it more understandable for the general public. The Annual Review-2015 contains 206 pages which are divided into 22 sections and each section represents a Unit of the Chandigarh Police, which provides a glimpse of Chandigarh police organizational structure, Administration, Crime, Law & Order situation, Traffic Management, Training, Modernization, IRBn, Chandigarh Home Guards, Achievements, Welfare activities, Major projects and other Community Policing activities undertaken during the year 2015. This book has been prepared with a view to provide necessary information about the Chandigarh police and its working in the year 2015. Year 2015, was characterized by numerous noteworthy achievements and reforms carried out by the Chandigarh Police for promoting community policing. The Annual Review Book-2015 contains detail description of all such achievements and reform i.e. I- Clik, Online PCC, Mobile Safety App “Smart 24x7”, Crime Stopper WhatsApp Number, Online Lost Documents/Articles etc. and opening of 6 new Police Stations at Sarangpur, Maloya, Sector 49, Mauli Jagran, IT Park and one Women Police Station. This Book has also covered-up the various training courses and programmes conducted and attended by the Chandigarh Police officers/officials, including specialized training courses to counter Terrorist insurgency designs, training courses of IRBn personnel with the Army authorities, in which 377 IRBn Jawans including a batch of 88 Lady-Constables, completed the 4 months integrated training at STC BSF Hazaribagh. Apart from showcasing various community oriented policing activities carried out during the year 2015, this book also has a special mention about the various welfare schemes which were undertaken during the period under review, i.e. a Dry Canteen at the IRBn complex Sarangpur for police personnel, a renovated Recreation Room at the Police Lines, Scholarships for police wards for excellent academic performance and Vocational courses for police wards, an Annual Medical Check-up and intensive check-up for high risk patients, as well as Special Medical Camps organized from time to time, upgraded Yoga centre, renovated Multipurpose Hall with an AC system, two bridal rooms, all weather air conditioned Fitness Centre/gymnasium, Creche for the police wards etc. A special section has also been dedicated to the Roll of all the Inspector Generals of Police, Awardees of Chandigarh Police for the year 2015, activities and programmes organized during the celebration of Police Week-2015, and to those officers/officials of Chandigarh Police who brought laurels to this department by their brilliant performance in the field of sports. All The senior officers have contributed one chapter each in this Annual Review on the particular unit headed by them. With the publication of this Annual Review Book, Chandigarh Police has taken another step towards increasing the accountability of Police towards the public they serve. During the year-2015, the Chandigarh Police personnel have served the people with distinction and have displayed the capacity to shoulder the burden of maintaining law & order and peace in the city beautiful. 40. 15.01.2017 Know Your Case In continuation of Know Your Case Scheme of Chandigarh police, on 14.01.2017, all SHOs as well as, I/Os, and In-charge of other units i.e. CIA, Cyber Crime cell, CAW, Operation Cell staff and Traffic Inspectors were present in their respective police stations/units and Traffic Lines, Sector-29, Chandigarh to attend the complainants. Total 92 persons visited the police stations and units to know the status of their cases and complaints. This Unique Scheme was launched by Chandigarh Police in 2013 under the title “Know your case” to bring greater transparency and accountability in police functioning. Area was in the year 1995 and after the interlude of 20 years, getting five new police stations together for providing better services in UT, Chandigarh is a great achievement in itself. The establishment of new police stations was necessary as the density of population was increased since the last 20 years. 45. 17.01.2016 Keeping in view of recent terrorist attack and forthcoming Republic Day celebrations, a special search and checking was organised under the supervision of all SDPOs & SHO's in their respective areas. The naka's were also laid to check the vehicles and patrolling were carried out by foot/vehicles at all the vital installations, busy markets, public parking areas, Cinemas, Malls, Bus Stands, hotels & guest houses etc. This drive was conducted by the Chandigarh Police from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm from the anti terrorist/sabotage point of view with help of Police Stations staff along with IRB Jawans. Anti sabotage/ explosive checking teams also provided to all SDPOs. During the special drive, total numbers of 798 vehicles were thoroughly checked. Challans were issued to 21 vehicles and other than this 1 vehicle was impounded under the provision of Motor vehicle Act. 50. 19.05.2017 Today in the morning, Awareness and Demonstration of Fire Fighting Equipments carried out at IRB Complex, Sarangpur by the team of Fire Department, MC Chandigarh lead by Sub Fire Officer Mr. L.B. Gautam since there may be a possibility of fire in IRB Complex, which falls in the open jungle area. The demonstration in the presence of Commandant IRB Sh. Roshan Lal, attended by IRB DSP/Admin., DSP/Training, 4 Inspectors, 13 NGOs, 8 HCs and 458 Constables (including lady constables). During the demonstration, tips on practical training, knowledge, skill and confidence to use the fire safety equipments within their workplace during an emergency was provided. The use of portable fire extinguisher, a fire hose reel and a fire blanket demonstrated. In the evening session, the demonstration of fire equipments was carried out at Police HQrs Sector-9 in the presence of DIG Sh. Alok Kumar, IPS. During the demonstration, about 200 official which includes Officers and Police/Ministerial staff posted in PHQ was available and some of them practically used fire extinguisher. It was also demonstrated where to use Class-A (Powder), Class-B (Water CO-2) and Class-AB (CO-2) extinguisher specially during the initial stage of fire.

51. 19.12.2015 National Human Rights Commission and as per guidance of W/IGP, UT, Chandigarh and under the supervision of W/SSP, UT, Chandigarh, a Debate competition on the topic of “Is Capital punishment required in India” was organized by Chandigarh Police at Recruit Training Centre, Police Lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh. 27 Police personnel (Inspectors, SIs, ASIs, HCs & Constables) from various units of Chandigarh Police participated in this debate. 250 police personnel attended this function. 52. 20.04.2017 Special Drive against consuming liquor at public place was carried out at different parts of the city in which total 18 cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act got registered. 56. 21.10.2015 A Commemoration Parade was organized at the Ground of Police Station, Sector-17 Chandigarh in memory of the martyred companions. Sh. A.S. Cheema, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, UT, Chandigarh along with other police officers paid homage to their departed comrades at the Martyrs Memorial Site. A Community Policing Initiative “YUVASHAKTI” is a Skill Development training programme for the youth of colonies who imparted with skill oriented courses like plumbing, electrician and other skills. Initially 108 youths/children e trained over a period of 120 hrs free of cost.

76. 28.05.2016 Know Your Case Scheme held in all Police Stations /Units.

In connection with the said scheme, today i.e 28.05.2016, all SHOs as well as, I/Os, and In-charge of other units i.e. CIA, Cyber Crime cell, CAW, Operation Cell staff and Traffic Inspectors were present in their respective police stations/units and Traffic Lines, Sector- 29, Chandigarh to attend the complainants. Total 91 persons visited the police stations and units to know the status of their cases and complaints.

In this regard, on 29.7.2016, an Award ceremony was held in the Multi Purpose Hall of Police Lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh. During Felicitation Ceremony, 24 police officials from the rank of Constable to Inspector i.e. 1 Inspector, 4 Sis, 1 ASI, 8 HC, 1 Sr. Constable, 7 Constable, 1 Home guard and 1 Junior Assistant were awarded for demonstrating the highest level of professional, dedication and sincerity to the duty. This initiative will help to improve the work & efficiency of police officials and to boost up the morale/confidence of the officials. These awards will be given on regular basis categories, monthly, quarterly and six month. In his address, IGP/UT assured the police officers about the other initiatives taken by earlier IGPs regarding police welfare, community policing etc will continue in future, moreover new schemes will be launched for the welfare of police department in near future.

Now, IGP/UT started a new initiative for such students to keep them away from negative activities by providing them hospitality and hotel management training at RIG, Greator Noida. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra IPS, IGP/UT interacted with 19 students of depressed areas, who were imparted training of Hospitality and hotel management training at RIG, Greater Noida, U.P.. at Police Headquarters, Sector-9, Chandigarh. Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, SSP, UT, was also present at this pledge function. 88. 30.11.2015 Inauguration of Challaning Branch and ATM machine in Traffic Lines, Sector 29 89. 30.7.2016 To keep the city peaceful & safe, Chandigarh Traffic Police and PCR laid down joint nakas in different areas of city on 29.7.16 from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The Nakas were supervised by Sh. Rajeev Kumar Ambasta, DSP/Traffic (Admn., South, R&D and Road Safety). During these nakas, total 107 challans were issued in which 101 for drunken driving and 06 challans were for miscellaneous traffic violations. During the drive total 101 vehicles were also impounded. Area, Chandigarh by arresting the accused persons with sincere efforts and also recovered all stolen articles gold, silver & artificial jewelry worth Rs. 7-8 lacs and mobile phone and Xcent car from their possession. 91. 31.10.2015 Know Your Case Scheme was held on 31.10.2015, all SHOs as well as, I/Os, and In- charge of other units i.e. CIA, Cyber Crime cell, EOW, CAW, Operation Cell staff and Traffic Inspectors were present in their respective police stations/units and Traffic Lines, Sector-29, Chandigarh to attend the complainants. Total 53 persons visited in all police stations and units to know the status of their cases/complaints and challans. The office of the concerned DSP took the feedback of citizens regarding their visit. 92. 31.12.2016 182 Police officials promoted on the eve of New Year-2017 Inspector General of Police, UT, Chandigarh has approved the promotion of 182 Police officials on the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee of Chandigarh police which include 71 ASIs who have been promoted to the rank of Sub Inspector, 52 Head Constables to the rank of ASI and 59 Constables to the rank of Head Constables. This is a New Year gift to the promoted officials and their families, which will build up the morale and confidence of the promoted police personnel, who were awaiting their due promotions. 94. 07.09.2017 Public Property Defacement In continuation of special drive against pasting of promotion posters and any other advertisement posters at public places in the city. Yesterday (06.09.2017), the drive was conducted and total 25 different cases U/S 3(1) Delhi prevention of Defacement Act 2007, were got registered against the violators in respective Police Stations of Chandigarh (i.e. PS/Sarangpur=1 case, PS/26= 3 cases, PS/Ind. Area= 4 cases, PS/MM= 3 cases, PS/Mauli Jagran-4 cases, PS/IT Park = 2 cases, PS/31 = 3 cases, PS/34 = 1 case and PS/Maloya= 4 cases). Any person who will deface the public property by pasting any kind of advertisement/promotion posters will be prosecuted according to the law. The General public/students are requested for not pasting the advertisement/promotion posters at public places in City Beautiful. Such drive will continue in future. 95. 07.08.2017 Special drive against consuming liquor at public place was carried out at different parts of the city in which total 38 cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act got registered. This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law.

In continuation of a special drive against consuming liquor at public place, yesterday, the drive was carried out at different parts of the city. Under this drive total 38 different cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act have been registered in different police stations of Chandigarh in which total 38 persons were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. All accused later on bailed out. This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law. 96. 14.08.2017 To nab the miscreants & criminals in the city, a special night checking was carried out on the intervening night of 13/14.08.2017. Total 68 night domination Nakas were placed at various locations of the city from 10 PM to 2 AM on night intervening 13/14.08.2017 to avoid any untoward incidents and to maintain Law & Order in the city. Total 9754 vehicles were checked out of which 191 vehicles were issued challan and 28 vehicles were impounded. Total 560 police personnel including 6 GOs, 16 SHOs, 10 Inspectors, 12 PCR Vehicles, 10 Cheetah Motorcycles and 460 NGOs/Ors were deployed at these Nakas. Beside this, a special search has also been carried out from time to time at various places i.e. Vital Installation, ISBT, Sector-17 and 43, Railway Station, Airport, busy markets etc to avoid any untoward incident. Such types of exercise will be repeated in other parts of the City. 97. 06.09.2017 SPECIAL DRIVE UNDER DEFACEMENT OF PROPERTY ACT-2007

Yesterday (05.09.2017), total 39 different cases U/S 3(1) Delhi prevention of Defacement Act 2007, were got registered against the violators in respective Police Stations of Chandigarh. (i.e. PS/03=3 cases, PS/11=2 cases, PS/17=2 cases, PS/SarangPur=2 cases, PS/19=1 case, PS/26=4 cases, PS/Ind. Area=4 cases, PS/Mouli Jagran=1 case, PS/IT Park=1 case, PS/Mani Majra=4 cases, PS/34=7 cases, PS/49=1 case, PS/36=1 case, PS/39=6 cases. Any person who will deface the public property by pasting any kind of advertisement/promotion posters will be prosecuted according to the law. The General public/students are requested for not pasting the advertisement/promotion posters at public places in City Beautiful.

98. 10.09.2017 By paying the special attention to work out the kidnapping cases of children and for the security of the children and citizens in the city beautiful, a special drive was conducted under the monitoring of senior officers to trace out the missing/kidnapped children in the city. This special drive was conducted at Police Stations level. In this drive 8 juveniles were traced out in last seven days (i.e. 02.09.2017 till 09.09.2017). Officers at Police station level did tremendous job to trace out the children and further handing them over to their parents. In three different cases of PS-36, PS-Ind. Area and PS-31, Chandigarh, with the efforts of Chandigarh Police the missing/kidnapped children have been traced out within short span of time. At first instance one boy namely A‟ (changed name) age about 12 Years R/o Sector 52, Chandigarh was reported to be missing/kidnapped on 07.09.2017. A case FIR No. 314 dated 07.9.17 U/S 363 IPC was registered in PS-36, Chandigarh. The missing boy was traced on same day i.e. 07.09.2017 within 12 hours of time. At second instance two boys namely B‟ & C‟ (changed name) both age about 15/16 Years R/o Daria, Chandigarh were reported to be missing/kidnapped from Daria, Chandigarh. A case FIR No. 269 dated 09.09.17 U/S 363 IPC was registered in PS-Ind. Area, Chandigarh. The both missing boys have been traced out within 24 hours. At third instance two girls namely D‟ & E‟ (changed name) both age about 13 Years R/o Hallo Majra, Chandigarh were reported to be missing/kidnapped since 06.09.2017. A case FIR No. 279 dated 6.9.17 U/S 363 IPC was registered in PS-31, Chandigarh. Both the missing girls were traced from Hardoi (UP) on 09.09.2017. All above found/traced children were handed over to their parents. Besides this, Anti Human Trafficking Unit of Chandigarh Police launched Operation Muskan-III w.e.f from 1st July, 2017 to 31stJuly, 2017. Under this operation data of missing children was obtained from MOB and door to door survey was conducted. After door- to-door survey and visits, 48 children out of 115 were traced. In this regard, 21 teams were sent to different places that are - Kharar, , Kurali, Pkl, Ambala, Maharastra, Delhi, Gurgaon, Bombay, Kolkata, UP, , etc. This special attention drive will be continued on priority basis to trace out the other kidnapping cases especially of juveniles. 99. 13.09.2017 Special drive against consuming liquor at public place was carried out at different parts of the city in which total 28 cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act got registered. This drive will be continuing in future, the general public is requested for not breaking the law. In continuation of a special drive against consuming liquor at public place, yesterday, the drive was carried out at different parts of the city. Under this drive total 28 different cases U/S 68-1-14 Excise Act have been registered in different police stations of Chandigarh in which total 28 persons were arrested while consuming liquor at public place. At the first instance, the physical cleanliness of police establishments was ensured by the participation of employee/staff of Chandigarh Police. A lot of waste articles and other garbage were removed and old record is being weeded out. 102. 09.08.2017 Public Grievances Redressal Campaign To bring greater transparency and accountability in police functioning, Chandigarh Police is launching a scheme under title “Public Grievances Redressal Campaign” in all police stations of Chandigarh from August 2017 for the Redressal of public grievances/complaints. The main idea behind this scheme is to Redress/disposal of maximum complaints/grievances of general public more effectively and in short span of time. For this purpose, 2nd Saturday of every month has been fixed as the “Public Grievances Redressal Campaign”. On that day All SHOs along with E/Os will remain present in the police station from 10 AM to 2 PM. SDPOs of each sub-division will also personally review the process by spending adequate time in each police station of his sub-division on that day from 10 AM to 2 PM. He will also interact with the complainants and general public present there. General Public / complainant / petitioners are hereby invited/requested to visit their respective police on the given date (i.e. Every 2nd Saturday of every month) during 10 AM to 2 PM to redress their grievances. 104. 25.09.2017 Achievement in 27th All India GV Malvankar Shooting Championship by Home Guard Volunteer Gurinder Singh The Shooting team of Chandigarh Police and Home Guard put in another gem in the field of sports & games by winning a Gold Medal in 27th All India GV Malvankar Shooting Championship at Mumbai, from 14 September to 26 September-2017. The shooter namely Gurinder Singh, Platoon Commander won the Gold Medal in 50 meter small bore shooting event. Besides this, earlier he also participated in Chandigarh State Rifle Shooting Championship at Chandigarh and won two gold medals in 50 meter small bore shooting event. Sh. An award function was held at GO‟s Mess, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh to recognize the good work done by Civilians, police officials and Home Guards. On this occasion, police personnel who retired from police services after attaining the age of superannuation were also honored by Dr. O.P. Mishra, IPS, DIG/UT, Ms. Nilambari Vijay Jagadale, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP/Traffic, and Sh. Eish Singhal, IPS, SP/Head Quarters. Other Police Officers including DSPs and Inspectors were also present at the Function. The police officers and other officials who retired after attaining the age of superannuation are Insp. 106. 14.10.2017 Public Grievances Redressal Campaign

To bring greater transparency and accountability in police functioning, Chandigarh Police launched a scheme under title“Public Grievances Redressal Campaign” in all police stations of Chandigarh for the Redressal of public grievances/complaints. The main idea behind this scheme is to Redress/disposal of maximum complaints/grievances of general public more effectively and in short span of time. For this purpose, 2ndSaturday of every month has been fixed as the “Public Grievances Redressal Campaign”.

Today, 3rd Public Grievances Redressal Campaign was organized inwhich, all SHOs along with E/Os were present in the police station from 10 AM to 2 PM. SDPOs of each sub- division had also personally reviewed the process by spending adequate time at each police station of their sub-division. During this camp, total 234 complainants/petitioners visited the Police Stations to know the present status of their complaints. The facts of complaints were discussed with complainants. During the camp problems/issues were discussed and instructions/directions regarding these have been issued to concerned Police officials/Beat staff to comply with accordingly. During the meeting a healthy interaction has been made between police and public.

107. 19.10.2017 55 cases U/S 188 IPC were registered in which 38 persons were arrested who were violating orders of Hon‟ble High Court.

Keeping in view of the festive season, Chandigarh Police made adequate arrangements of law & order and also for the purpose of traffic regulation and traffic rules enforcement so that the citizen of Chandigarh can celebrate the DIWALI festival without any inconvenience.

Approximately 1500 police personnel from police stations/units, IRB, Operation Cell & PCR were deployed for law & order duties including 6 DSPs and 25 Inspectors on 17th October to 19th October. 830 police personnel from police stations/units, about 400 from Traffic Unit and 180 from PCR were deployed. Traffic Police was also present in the field and remained vigilant throughout the day to regulate the traffic smoothly. The duties of the staff were fixed on day night basis during this festive season.

To follow the directions of Hon‟ble High Court the sufficient force was deployed to maintain law and order in the city. The orders of Deputy Commissioner UT Chandigarh U/S 144 Cr.P.C. regarding bursting/selling/storage of fire crackers were followed and legal action under section 188 IPC & 9(B) Explosive Act was taken against the violators.

i. Total 55 cases were registered out of which 53 of U/S 188 IPC and 2 cases were of 188 IPC & 9(B) Explosive Act in which total 38 persons were arrested.

ii. In the last four days (i.e. 17, 18, 19, 20 October, 2017) total 55 cases U/S 188 IPC were registered against persons who were bursting/selling fire crackers and out of these 55 cases, about 18 cases were against the unknown persons who were bursting the crackers beyond permissible day & time limit (6:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Diwali day). Sincere efforts are being made to trace/identify these unknown violators. iii. Two cases U/S 188 IPC & 9(B) Explosive Act were registered in Police Station Sector 36 against the violators who were arrested while storing/selling fire crackers without any license/ permit. 66 Kg and 45 Kg of fire crackers were seized in above two cases. Total 13 persons were arrested after registration of cases against them of selling crackers without permission and license. iv. Besides above, 25 persons were arrested after registration of cases against them who were bursting fire crackers beyond permissible time limit.

No untoward incident was reported during this festival season and situation remained peaceful in the city. Worthy DGP, Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra appreciated the staff for doing their duties more vigilantly. The Unit In-charges and other senior officers also greeted their staff on the occasion of Diwali.

113. 31.12.2017 Chandigarh Police Arrangements Regarding New Year Eve 2017-2018

Keeping in view of the New Year Eve (Celebrations) of 2018, Chandigarh Police made large-scale arrangements of law & order and also for the purpose of traffic regulation. All Hotels, Clubs, Restaurants, Community Centers, Markets, prominent places were covered by deployment of maximum police force including lady police force. Special lady police squad and 9 PCR vehicles with lady police were deployed for this purpose.

About 1500 police personnel from police stations, different wings, IRB & PCR were deployed for law & order duties including 8 DSPs and 38 SHO/Inspectors, 164 NGOs/HCs, 835 constables, 111 lady ORs and 275 Home Guard Volunteers. Commando staff, cheetah staff, special trauma Van/PCR Ambulances were also deployed under preventive steps. Apart from above the Police personnel of Traffic wing were also deployed at drunken driving Nakas and for traffic regulation and traffic rules enforcement.

Chandigarh Police set 18 outer + 32 inner nakas at different points in the city. Total 73 vehicles were issued challan and 14 vehicles were impounded by staff of police stations. Four cases U/S 68(1)B PP Act 2017 and 510 IPC were registered against the persons who were found consuming liquor at public places. Under preventive action 107/151 CrPC was initiated against three persons by staff of PS-31 and PS-Maloya, Chandigarh. Apart from this, a case FIR No. 01 dated 01.01.2018 U/S 332, 353 IPC has been registered in PS-31, Chandigarh on the complaint of SI Ramesh Kumar, Traffic Wing against Gurdev Singh R/o H.No. 3054, Sector 21-D, Chandigarh who was found driving his vehicle under influence of alcohol at traffic naka. He misbehaved and manhandled with Traffic Marshal deputed at traffic naka and also obstructed duty of traffic staff. Accused has been arrested in this case.

Total 04 women called PCR to seek the police help for dropping them at their residence/destinations on night intervening of 31 Dec, 2017/01 January, 2018.

Apart from this, on night intervening 31st Dec 2017 & 1st Jan 2018, Total 286 events/spots were generated where PCR dispatched for police assistance as compared to 291 in last year-2017 (from 8 PM to 8AM). Majority of calls were of quarrel= 100, for Noise pollution= 39, Creating nuisance on public place= 37. Besides this, 36 calls were of accidents and remaining 66 calls of other miscellaneous events.

The city remain peaceful, no untoward incident was reported during this period.

115. 10.02.2018 A community policing initiative by Chandigarh Police for „Youth Skill Development‟ at Infosys

Today, a Training Session on skill development was organized for the children/students of slum areas/colonies in collaboration with Infosys at Infosys Building, IT Park, Chandigarh under the guidance of Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh inaugurated this Skill Development training session along with Ms. Nilambari Jagdale, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, UT, Chandigarh. The youth/children under age group from Class 10th to undergraduate were got involved from slum areas/colonies lying in jurisdictions of different police stations of Chandigarh. The pick & drop facility was also provided to the students by Chandigarh Police. Sh. Vikas Ahuja, Development Centre Head – Infosys Chandigarh explained various scenarios where the Information Technology can be beneficial for the youths. The objective of the session was to provide an opportunity where experts would explain the importance of Communication Skills and offer technical training sessions to youngsters. Total 90 students/children were imparted training on skill development i.e. communication skill, computer knowledge, computer typing, online transactions, online booking, online purchasing etc. DGP/UT in his speech said „these kinds of training will enable the youth to learn skilled courses and helpful for their better future. It will also give them better placements. This type of community policing initiative will be continuing in future and will also be planned to organize such skill development training at computer lab of RTC, Police Lines, Chandigarh for these students.

Chandigarh Police had done a commendable job by cracking a gang rape case FIR No. 411 dated 18.11.2017 U/S 376-D, 506 IPC, registered in Police Station Sector 36, Chandigarh by apprehending all accused in this case.

118. 10.02.2018 A community policing initiative by Chandigarh Police for „Youth Skill Development‟ at Infosys

Today, a Training Session on skill development was organized for the children/students of slum areas/colonies in collaboration with Infosys at Infosys Building, IT Park, Chandigarh under the guidance of Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh inaugurated this Skill Development training session along with Ms. Nilambari Jagdale, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, UT, Chandigarh. The youth/children under age group from Class 10th to undergraduate were got involved from slum areas/colonies lying in jurisdictions of different police stations of Chandigarh. The pick & drop facility was also provided to the students by Chandigarh Police. Sh. Vikas Ahuja, Development Centre Head – Infosys Chandigarh explained various scenarios where the Information Technology can be beneficial for the youths. The objective of the session was to provide an opportunity where experts would explain the importance of Communication Skills and offer technical training sessions to youngsters. Total 90 students/children were imparted training on skill development i.e. communication skill, computer knowledge, computer typing, online transactions, online booking, online purchasing etc. DGP/UT in his speech said „these kinds of training will enable the youth to learn skilled courses and helpful for their better future. It will also give them better placements. This type of community policing initiative will be continuing in future and will also be planned to organize such skill development training at computer lab of RTC, Police Lines, Chandigarh for these students.

119. 25.03.2018 DGP Invitational Golf Tournament-2018

Chandigarh Police in collaboration with SARA Group organized the DGP Invitational Golf Tournament on 24th & 25th March 2018. The inaugural edition of the 5th DGP Invitational Golf Tournament was held at Panchkula Golf Club, Sector 3, Panchkula, Haryana on 24.03.2018. Over 100 prominent officers/participants had participated in this competition on 24th March. The tournament was being organized by Chandigarh Police in collaboration with SARA Group. Chandigarh Police made all necessary arrangements for the guest players who came to Chandigarh from other states for participation. The tournament was played in good sports spirit and in full enthusiasm. Through this tournament the Chandigarh Police ensured interaction and engagement with the top corporate, bureaucrats and entrepreneurs of the region. The tournament is a part of the constant endeavor of Chandigarh Police to reach to various sections of the society through various programme and events. The Tournament was concluded at Chandigarh Golf Club, Sector 6, Chandigarh on 25th March, 2018. His Excellency, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor Punjab cum Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, DGP, UT, Chandigarh along with other senior officers of Chandigarh Police, members of Chandigarh Golf Club and other distinguished guests were present on this occasion. The Chandigarh Golf Club played a perfect host with its glorious vistas and unique challenges, as the second day of tournament saw participation of over 118 prominent golfers of the region. The event concluded with a grand prize presentation ceremony along with High Tea. His Excellency, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor Punjab cum Administrator, UT, Chandigarh distributed the prizes among the winners. DGP/Chandigarh, Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, presented a Momentum to the His Excellency.

120. 20.05.2018 DGP/UT rewarded CTU driver & Conductor for showing exemplary courage and saving girl. Today, Sh. Tajender Singh Luthra, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh along with Ms. Nilambari Jagdale, IPS, SSP/UT, Chandigarh, DSP Sh. Yashpal Vinayak and Insp Ranjodh Singh, SHO/PS-36, rewarded driver Mohit Thakur No. DD-236 of CTU Depot No. 2. Mr. Mohit Thakur along with CTU Conductor Ravinder Singh rescued a girl from the clutches of accused auto driver who tried to rape the victim on 20.05.2018 at about 3.00 AM. The cash reward of Rs. 5,000/- with momento has been given for showing exemplary courage, saving victim girl and apprehending accused on the spot. On night intervening 19/20.05.2018, Victim was going on foot from Sector 35, while she reached near South End Hotel, Chandigarh, an auto stopped and approached her. The driver of auto asked her to drop her at destination. On this, girl hired the auto. The driver drove his Auto towards slip road near Attawa Chowk and suddenly stopped the Auto in dark. Auto driver tried to rape the girl. The girl protested and started shouting loudly to save herself. Meanwhile, listening to the shouting of girl, CTU bus driver and conductor stopped there and rescued the girl and nabbed auto driver on the spot. They informed the police. In this regard, a Case FIR No, 190 dated 20/5/18 U/S 354,376,511 IPC has been registered in PS-36, Chandigarh. The accused has been arrested and involved auto has also been taken into police possession. Investigation of case is in progress.

Driver Mohit Thakur and Conductor Ravinder Singh have shown exemplary courage, bravery, contributed while apprehending such dangerous criminal in the society. Chandigarh Police recognizes their efforts and as a token of appreciation, cash reward and momento was given to Mr. Mohit Thakur for his future encouragement. 121. 15.08.2018 PRESIDENT‟S POLICE MEDAL FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICES (PPM) TO DR. O.P. MISHRA, DIG/UT, CHANDIGARH ON INDEPENDENCE DAY 2018 Dr. O.P. Mishra is a Serving IPS Officer 0f 2002 Batch AGMUT Cadre. He is presently posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police, UT Chandigarh. He has exhibited outstanding qualities of a police officer in various assignments and earned himself the respect of members of the public and appreciation of his seniors. As ACP (Greater Kailash), on 6th April 1992, the officer carried out an encounter of a dreaded terrorist in Kailash Colony market in which two terrorists were killed and two terrorists were apprehended with one assault rifle and 150 live rounds and a cyanide capsule. His investigating skill as Sub-Divisional Police Officers has been instrumental in solving several high profile cases highlighted by print and electronic media. The officer remained on deputation in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo from Dec. 2000 to March 2002. As Addl. Deputy Commissioner of Police, P.M. Security, he supervised several security arrangements of Prime Minister of India including high profile visits of Foreign Head of States and Head of Govts. His edited book on Basic Principles of VIP Security in English and Hindi was recommended as a resource book for various training institutes by Bureau of Police Research and Development. As DCP Airport he successfully supervised the law and order and security arrangement of Common Wealth Games 2010. As Deputy Commissioner of Police East Distt, he introduced Integrated Motorcycle patrol scheme which effectively controlled the street crime and increased the visibility of police. For his outstanding contribution to the force and his proactive and efficient professional ethics, Dr. Mishra was awarded President‟s Police Medal for Meritorious Services on the Occasion of Independence Day Parade, 2012. As Superintendent of Police the officer was handpicked to lead Crime Branch and Anti Narcotics Cell of Police in 2012. His proactive policing and crackdown reduced the menace of drug activities in the Coastal State. He also played an instrumental role in exposing the activities of flesh trade and human trafficking under the garb of massage parlour in the state. Later, as Deputy Inspector of Police Goa he supervised the security and law & order arrangement of Lusofonia Games in 2013. He returned to in November, 2014. As DCP, Operations and Communications, Dr. Mishra was instrumental in bringing about various systemic and procedural changes in the overall functioning of Communication unit and Central Police Control Room. He played a very important role in introduction of “Himmat Plus” mobile women safety App by Delhi Police and Parakram Commando in PCR Unit. Since July 2017, the officer has been posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Chandigarh with additional charge of Inspector General/Prisons, Chandigarh. The Officer demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities in handling of law and order arrangements and ensuring peace in the UT during Ram Rahim agitation in the year 2017. Apart from handling investigation of sensitive cases and law and order duties, Dr. O.P. Mishra has also contributed in the field of Police Academics. His book Policing Delhi: Urbanization, Crime and law enforcement published by Oxford University Press (2011) is a reference book for DANIPS & IPS probationers in Police Training College, Delhi. His second book Watch Out: A handbook for safe living published in the year 2013 is a citizen friendly book where safety tips have been shared for prevention of Crime. The book has been translated in Konkani and Hindi languages also. The book has recently been translated and published in by Sahitaya Academy Chandigarh. He has also written several articles in Indian Police Journal and contributed chapters in various edited books. His outstanding contribution in last 30 years in the maintenance of law and order, investigation, introduction of Community Policing, solving a large number of sensational cases, successful encounter of a dreaded terrorist and academic contributions including publication of Books has been appreciated by his seniors and peer. Dr. Mishra through his contribution has redefined the definition of an IPS officer by expanding its contours to the field of academics and reoriented policing by making it citizen friendly and a people‟s Police.

125. 05.09.2018 DGP/UT awarded investigation officers for doing commendable job in investigation of gang rape case

Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh awarded commendation certificate of first class along with cash components to the police officials of PCR wing Constable Suresh No. 5245/CP and Constable Sombir No. 4996/CP who showed their promptness and professional skill in apprehending one robber who along with his accomplices committed robbery from two persons on Bullet Motor Cycle on night intervening 04/05.09.2018. Brief fact of case:- On 04-09.2018, Chandigarh Police Control Room flashed message regarding three persons on Bullet Motor Cycle snatched Rs. 1000 from a person near Sector 49/50 Light Point and flashed another message after sometime regarding snatching of Rs 2500/- from a person on Gun point near Centra Mall, Ph-1, Chandigarh. Upon receipt of these messages PCR Vehicle Echo-34 of Police Station Ind. Area started patrolling in the area and found Bullet M/Cycle parked near tea stall, Railway Station. Constable Suresh No. 5245/CP and Constable Sombir No. 4996/CP deputed at PCR Vehicle Echo 34 of Police Station-Ind. Area nabbed one of the accused Balkesh R/o Village Tejpur, Distt Unnao, UP and recovered bag and pistol from him. In this regard, a case FIR No 266, dated 05.09.2018 U/S- 341,392,34 IPC & 25/54/59 Arms Act registered in PS- Ind. Area, Chandigarh and a case FIR No. 175, date 05-09-18, U/S 341,392, 34 IPC & 25/54/59 Arms Act registered in PS-49, Chandigarh. Sh. 126. 05.09.2018 DGP/UT awarded investigation officers for doing commendable job in investigation of gang rape case

Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh awarded commendation certificate of first class along with cash components to the investigation officers for doing commendable job in investigation of gang rape case i.e. FIR No. 411 dated 18.11.2017 U/S 376D, 376 (2)(G) & 506 IPC, PS-36, Chandigarh. A gruesome incident of gang rape was reported on 17.11.2017 at Sector 53, Chandigarh committed by occupants of Auto. During course of investigation, one accused Irfan R/o Distt. Ambedkar Nagar (UP) was arrested on 24.11.2017 and another two accused Kismet Ali R/o Amethi UP & Mohammad Garib R/o Distt. Faizabad (UP) were arrested on 25.11.2017 by Chandigarh Police. Due to the investigation conducted by Late SI Jang Bahadur and L/SI Mini Bhardwaj accused have been convicted for life imprisonment by the Hon‟ble Court on 31.08.2018. Late SI Jang Bahadur and SI Mini Bhardwaj did commendable job in the investigation of this case. To mark and encourage the professional acumen of police official, Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, DGP/UT appreciated and awarded commendation certificate of first class along with cash reward to them. 127. 19.09.2018 W/DGP Awarded police officials for nabbing robbers Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh awarded commendation certificate of first class along with cash components to the police officers of Chandigarh police for their remarkable performance in nabbing the robbers by giving them commendation certificates along with cash reward of Rs 5000/- each. On the night intervening 17/18.9.18 at about 12.01 AM a call was received in Police Control Room regarding the robbery and stabbing incident on the dividing road sec-7/8 near sector-7 Petrol Pump Chandigarh. After few minutes at about 12.20 AM they again attacked a cyclist and in the same manner. They robbed a person namely Shekhar. As the motorcycle fell down they could not able to start the same. One of the accused ran upstairs towards Lake and the other culprit went to the Jungle back side Golf Club Chandigarh. Both the calls were received by the duty officer control room Chandigarh,

ASI Satparkash who was posted as Duty officer in police control room after getting the information from the general public over phone regarding robber and stabbing incidents at Sec-7 & Sector-26 back side Lake communicated in such a way that information was circulated to all the concerned officers. With this action the PCR vehicles, Cheetha vehicles, Police station-26 staff and Night checking officers immediately reached the place of incident and cordoned the area. One of the accused Karan who went up-stairs towards the Lake was nabbed by Const Balwinder No. 3954/CP and handed over to Local police station staff. The other accused namely Sourav after committing the crime went inside the jungle back side Golf club by leaving the motorcycle at the spot. He was nabbed by Insp Narinder Patial Night Checking officer with his acute intelligence. With the joint prompt action/efforts done by Night checking officer, Duty officer police control room PHQ Sec-9, Chd and Night Patrolling police officials, both accused were nabbed and recovered robbed property from their possession. Parimal Rai, IAS, Sh. Sanjay Baniwal DGP/UT and other Senior Officers of the Police and administration. About 2500 number of police official up to the rank of SI have been transferred who have complete 2 years tenure in respective units and Police Stations through Automatic Placement Software. The computer generated postings will ensure proper rotation of police officers and men and empower them with skills at various levels in the long run. 130. 27.09.2018 Crime Branch Officals awarded by DGP, UT for remarkable performance Today, Sh. Ravinder Sarin R/o # 2338, Sec.44C, Chandigarh in which it was reported that someone has stolen his Fortuner No. CH01AN-9595 from Sec.49, Chandigarh. During the investigation accused Milan Sharma S/o Sh. Ravi Dutt Sharma R/o, Sec.49, Chandigarh was arrested and stolen vehicle has been recovered. He further disclosed that he found the keys of vehicle, then he has stolen the fortuner and further parked it in free parking area Sec.16, Panchkula and try to sell it off, but he could not manage to get any customer. Sanjeet, 4083/CP 131. 21.10.2018 Chandigarh Police paid tribute to the Martyrs of Chandigarh Police Today morning, a Commemoration Parade was organized at the Ground of Police Station, Sector-17 Chandigarh in the memory of the martyred companions. Every year, 21st October is the day of remembrance of the martyred companions who laid down their lives during obligation of their duties. On this occasion, two-minute silence was held to salute the memory of Police Martyrs who sacrificed their lives. Central Police Organizations and State Police celebrate this day in the form of Martyrdom Day. Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh along with other police officers paid homage to their departed colleagues at the Martyrs Memorial Site. Last year from 1st September 2017 to August 2018 total 414 Police Officers and Police Personnel from paramilitary police forces and police organizations have set exemplary example before their colleagues by sacrificing their lives during duty. The history of commemoration day traces back to October 21, 1959, when a police party of the Indian police force was deployed to defend national frontiers in the region. The same was attacked by Chinese troops hidden by forming ambush in hills and 10 CRPF jawans were killed. Since then, this day is celebrated as Martyrdom Day at Central Police Organizations and Police Forces in remembrance of countless sacrifice of martyr companions. Tribute to 6 Martyrs of Chandigarh Police Chandigarh Police since its inception in the year 1966, is being striving very hard to provide an efficient, law abiding and responsive law enforcement machinery. In this attempt our 06 fellow policemen Insp. Jagjit Singh, Insp. Sucha Singh, SI Amarjit Singh, ASI Amarjit Singh, ASI Lalu Ram and ASI Amin Chand have laid down their lives while discharging their duties. Last year Chandigarh Police had pioneered the initiative by showcasing the supreme sacrifice and priceless contribution of Martyrs by organizing ceremonies at native villages of 6 martyrs of Chandigarh Police. This year also Chandigarh Police organized ceremonies at 5 districts of Punjab & 01 of to commemorate the supreme sacrifice made by Martyrs of Chandigarh Police. The functions were held at the schools/colleges in the native home towns of martyrs in which these valiant men studied. DSP‟s of UT, Chandigarh, paid humble tribute to the six martyrs in the presence of family members of the martyrs, staff and students of the respective schools/colleges and other prominent personalities. DSP‟s also addressed the gathering at these functions. Remembering the brave souls on the occasion Chandigarh Police highlighted the sacrifice made by the slain martyrs in the line of duty: Late Sh. Jagjit Singh, Inspector joined Chandigarh Police as ASI on May 6, 1972. While posted as SHO/PS-39, on 17 July, 1988, he led a raid at a residence in sector-45, where some terrorists, armed with sophisticated weapons, were taking shelter. Exhibiting exemplary courage and leadership, he broke open the door and rushed inside the house. In this encounter three terrorists were killed. Insp. Jagjit Singh also received fatal bullet injuries and was martyred on the spot. Late Sh. Sucha Singh, Inspector joined Chandigarh Police as Constable on April 30, 1976. While posted in the traffic wing of the Chandigarh Police, he was on the night checking duty in the area of sub-division central on the night intervening of June 8/9, 2013. During checking he questioned one suspicious couple sitting near the district court, sector-17, Chandigarh. During the process, the accused stabbed him multiple times due to which he was martyred. Inspector Sucha Singh sacrificed his life valiantly so that others could live safely. Sh. Amarjit Singh, SI joined Punjab Police as Constable on 25.05.1973 and joined Chandigarh Police on deputation. On February 25, 1992, SI Amarjit Singh along with other police officials was escorting under trial terrorists to PGI, Chandigarh for their treatment, some unidentified attacked the police party. Late SI Amarjit Singh bravely fought the terrorist till he martyr. Late Sh. Amarjit Singh, ASI joined Chandigarh Police on July 26, 1976. On December 8, 1989, while he was posted in the Police Post-36, he was ambushed and martyred on the patrolling duty near village Kajheri by two terrorists riding a motorcycle. Late Sh. Lalu Ram, ASI joined as a constable in Punjab Police on 29 June, 1976 and joined Chandigarh Police on deputation on 30 May, 1978. On August 29, 1991, while he was posted as PSO to SSP/Chandigarh, some terrorists laid an explosive trap which blasted the SSP‟s car. ASI Lalu Ram was martyred on the spot. Late Sh. Amin Chand, ASI joined the Chandigarh Police as constable on June 4th, 1981. He was martyred on August 29, 1991 in a bomb blast by some terrorists, while he was posted as driver with then SSP, Sh. SS Saini. Chandigarh Police announced annual scholarship in the name of slain martyrs amounting Rs.11,000/- for the Matric Class toppers of these schools/college. The cheques of Rs. 11,000/- were presented to all the respective toppers in their schools by the DSP‟s of Chandigarh Police. The family members of the slain martyrs were present on this occasion. This annual scholarship Scheme of Chandigarh Police will be in continuation and given on annual basis in the name of each martyr for the Matric class topper at their respective native schools. At the end a two minute silence prayer was held in the ceremonies of martyrs of Chandigarh police.

132. 30.11.2018 A welfare function was organized at GO‟s Mess, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh to honour the police personnel who were retired from police services after attaining the age of superannuation. Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT Chandigarh accompanied by Dr. O.P. Mishra, IPS, DIG/UT, Sh. Milind Mahadeo Dumbere, IPS, SSP/HQRS, Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP/Traffic & Security and Ms. Nilambari Jagdale, IPS, SSP/UT, was present along with other Police Officers at the Function. The police officers and other officials who retired after attaining the age of superannuation was Sh. Arun Kumar (Insp. ORP), Sh. Yadvinder Singh (Insp. ORP), Sh. Randhir Singh (Insp. ORP), Sh. Nirmal Singh (Insp. ORP), Sh. Charanjit Singh (Insp. ORP), Sh. Bihari Lal (SI), Sh. Gurdeep Singh (SI ORP), Sh. Sukhdev Singh (ASI), Sh. Pritam Singh (ASI ORP), Sh. Raj Kumar (ASI ORP), Sh. Baljit Singh (ASI ORP). The families of retired police officers were also invited on this occasion as a Guest of Honor. All the retirees were honoured by DGP/UT with momentums and certificates.

133. 03.12.2018 DGP appreciated Lady Constable for sports achievements Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh appreciated the achievement of L/C Sushma No. 4214/CP who brought laurels to the Chandigarh Police and City Beautiful by winning silver medal in 43rd National Yoga Sports Championship 2018 held at , Punjab between 18th to 20th November 2018. This is not the first time that she represented Chandigarh Police in Yoga event, but she had also won Gold medal in All India Police Yoga Championship 2017-2018 and also won Bronze medal in Asian Yoga Championship held at Malaysia 2013 earlier.

1st Vishal Sharma Memorial Cricket Championship -2018 was organized by Chandigarh Police at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Chandigarh. Dr. O.P. Mishra IPS, DIG/UT inaugurated the opening ceremony at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Chandigarh. This Cricket Tournament is being organized in the memory of Late SI Vishal Sharma of Chandigarh Police who was the captain of Chandigarh Police Cricket Team. Under his captainship Chandigarh Police has won many tournaments & trophies. He served in various important posts like I/C PP Lake, I/C PP Dhanas, & LO traffic etc. He was judged all round best probationer in the year 1996. Dr. O.P. Mishra IPS, DIG UT paid tribute to Late SI Vishal Sharma by offering flowers. During this occasion family of Late SI Vishal Sharma was also present. In this championship total 8 teams are participating – CRPF, CBI, IB, Media, HDFC, UT Employees, High Court and Chandigarh Police. Match Summaries Today on 21.12.2018, three opening matches of this Cricket Tournament were played at the grounds of Cricket Stadium Sector 16, Chandigarh, DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh and Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. 1st Match was played between Chandigarh Police and Chandigarh Press Club at Cricket Stadium Sector 16, Chandigarh. Chandigarh Press Club won the toss & elected to bat first against Chandigarh Police. Chandigarh Press Club scored 79 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs match. Naveen Tyagi added 39 runs (4 Fours) in 42 balls. For the Bowling side of Chandigarh Police, Kapil Punia, Ramandeep & Balwinder Senior grabbed 2 wickets each. Chandigarh Police achieved the target in 12.4 over‟s, and scored 81 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. 135. 28.12.2018 Mega Counseling Session of skill development programme Today, Mega Counseling Session of skill development programme under “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna” by Chandigarh Police was completed at Multi-Purpose Hall, Police Lines, Sec-26, Chandigarh in which about 600 male/female participated. Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT along with other Senior Officers was present at this function. A welcome address was given by Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT and all participants were made familiar/conversant with skill programme of Govt i.e “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna”. Sh. Jayanta Dass, Primero Skills founder gave lecture on youth development. DGP/UT in official address said “This skill development training programme will be benefiting School dropout‟s students as well as to Juvenile offenders and Poor youth. Chandigarh Police will stand beside them to get a place in better society and live life peacefully. He requested parents of youths to ensure that they should attend this skill development programme regularly. The youth will also be aware about traffic rules and bad affects of drugs in their lives under this programme.” DGP UT also interacted with the students and gave his guidance to students on this programme. Thereafter, counseling and interview session of the participants/candidates held accordingly, to choose their course according to their interest and caliber. This programme is for youths who are unemployed and may land in wrong company & crime. This skill development programme of Chandigarh Police for youths has also been approved by skill ministry. Govt. is also providing mudra loan under “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna”. Chandigarh Police is giving this training free of cost and will also help them to get better placement. Inauguration of this Skill Development Programme will be held soon. Under this skill development program 480 students will be trained under vocational courses in (1) Beauty and wellness (2) General Duty Hospital Assistant (3) Retail Store Assistant (4) Food & Beverage assistance. The classes for this training will be held in Police Station – 34, 26 and Police Post 24. This Skill Development Programme will help to reduce unemployment which is being faced by the youths in the modern era. Such type of courses will motivate these unemployed youths to live their life peacefully and will help in creating a better society; it is a community policing initiative to bridge the gap between police and public.

136. 25.01.2019 Release of Security Handbooks by Hon‟ble Chief Justice of High Court of Punjab & Haryana, Chandigarh at High Court Complex 25.01.2019 Hon‟ble Mr. Justice Krishna Murari, Chief Justice of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana formally released two Handbooks on guidelines for protected persons and their personal security staff prepared by Chandigarh Police in a function held in High Court Complex today. On this occasion, members of the Security Committee of the High Court namely, Hon‟ble Mr. Justice Mahesh Grover, Hon‟ble Mr. Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain, Hon‟ble Ms. Justice Nirmaljit Kaur, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T Chandigarh Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, Principle Secretary, Home, U.T Chandigarh Sh. , Director General of Police, U.T Chandigarh Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, DIG, U.T Chandigarh Dr. O. P. Mishra and SSP/Security and Traffic, U.T Chandigarh Sh. Shashank Anand were also present. In order to professionally fine tune and orient the various security components detailed with the protected persons, Chandigarh Police has initiated several measures. Apart from organizing refresher courses, special meditation camps and nature walks were organized for security personnel to de-stress themselves from the challenging duties of a Security Officers. To empower them, mentally and physically regarding charter of duties to be performed by personal security officer and other components, critical responsibilities were identified. All these instructions and directions in the form of do‟s/don‟ts have been formally compiled in the form of a handbook which was released today by the Hon‟ble Chief Justice. The Handbooks contain important guidelines/instructions regarding VIP security as laid down by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India from time to time. They have been composed in English, Hindi and Punjabi languages for the benefit of both protected persons and their personal security personnel. The aim of the Handbooks is to strengthen the security of protected persons by sensitising both the protected persons and their personal security staff about the nature of professional relation between the two in order to achieve synergy. This initiative by Chandigarh police is first of its kind in the country. These Handbooks have been prepared by Security Unit of Chandigarh Police under the guidance of DGP/U.T Chandigarh and DIG/U.T Chandigarh. 139. 18.02.2019 Meeting with a delegation of persons of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) about their safety and security in the city Today, Senior Officers of Chandigarh Police led by DGP, Chandigarh Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, DIG Dr. O.P. Mishra and SSP/Security Sh. Shashank Anand held a meeting with a delegation of persons belonging to the state of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) who are residing in Chandigarh to reassure them about their safety and security in the city. The persons who attended the meeting appreciated the sensitive and caring nature of the residents of Chandigarh towards them. A minute of silence as a mark of homage and respect to the martyrs of the recent Pulwama terror attack was also observed by all present in the meeting. The SDPOs and SHOs have also been directed to hold similar confidence building meetings in their area. Chandigarh Police appeals to all to maintain peace and harmony. Under no circumstances shall anyone be allowed to disturb public order and peace. Chandigarh Police is committed to ensuring the security & safety of all citizens of the country residing in or moving through the City Beautiful Chandigarh. 140. 01.03.2019 Chandigarh Police arranged meeting of children with Celebrity Salman Khan Chandigarh Police is working with children who are vulnerable to substance abuse. Many new initiatives have been launched by Chandigarh Police to create awareness among children about health & hygiene with particular focus on prevention of substance abuse. Chandigarh Police in partnership with SPYM has also initiated “Child Friendly & Drug free Community” for Children Vulnerable to drug abuse. Chandigarh Police is also providing free training of vocational courses to victims of crime, students from poor family, youth vulnerable to drugs addiction etc, so that they can be integrated into mainstream society. In order to promote this positive and healthy lifestyle, Chandigarh Police arranged an interaction session of these Children with celebrities participating in celebrity cricket Match. Bollywood Celebrity Mr. Salman Khan interacted with the Children at Cricket Stadium, Sector-16, Chandigarh.

141. 14.03.2019 DGP rewarded Police Personnels for solving murder case In view of latest security scenario, W/DGP/UT has recently issued special directions to the police officers posted in South Division to make extra efforts to work out unsolved heinous cases and to curb crimes like murders, dacoities, robberies, burglaries, vehicle thefts etc. In this context, the police officers Insp. Rajdeep Singh, SI Neeraj Kumar, ASI Parminder Singh, Const. Ashok Kumar have shown their best and made extra efforts to solve unsolved heinous crimes. They provided much needed back end support and coordination in multiple states with district police and crime branch to solve the heinous murder of Vishal Chillar. Hence, W/DGP has personally awarded these police officers with Commendation Certificate.

142. 16.03.2019 A “Walk for Fun” was organized jointly by Chandigarh Senior Citizens‟ Association (CSCA) and Chandigarh Police at 6.30am at Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh. Shri Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh flagged off the walk at 7 AM. Senior Citizens and Officers of Police Department Sh. O.P. Mishra, DIG/UT, Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP/Traffic & Sec., Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT, along with other senior officers of police department were present at the event. Shri I.P. Puri, President of the Association briefed the participants about the rules, distance to be covered and the various facilities provided by the police department. The registration process was held between 6:00 AM to 6:40 AM. The distance of the walk was 1.5 Km for age group between 60 to 70 years and 1 KM for age group of 70 years & above. The walkers were separated on the basis of age of the members with Red and Green stickers. Chandigarh Police had provided ambulance facility for emergency purposes, drinking water, tea and refreshment. The Walk was followed by Interaction with DGP UT Chandigarh. Members of Senior Citizen‟s Association spoke in glowing terms about the friendly attitude of Chandigarh Police and the many innovations it had brought in to protect the Senior Citizens. The members also raised many points about traffic lights, ruthless driving by younger generation, conditions of roads, parking facilities and many more. The DGP gave the suitable replies and also assured that he would issue the necessary directions for these issues to concerned unit. Shri I.P. Puri thanked the Police Department for facilitating the whole programme.

143. 20.03.2019 Holi Milan functions for children vulnerable to substance abuse Children who are vulnerable to substance abuse and are being imparted life skills training under “URJA” program of Chandigarh Police celebrated Holi with Shri Sanjay Baniwal, Director General of Police, Chandigarh. Events were organized in three pockets of Chandigarh i.e. Dhanas, Bapudham and Ramdarbar by Chandigarh Police in partnership with SPYM to celebrate the occasion with underprivileged children. On this occasion, Ms. NilambariJagdale, SSP Chandigarh and other officials of Chandigarh Police were also present.

Children shared their experience being part of the initiative of Chandigarh Police and how it has helped them change their behavior. Mr. Manish Kumar, SPYM briefed the DGP about the initiative and progress made in the direction of making the community drug free. DGP in his address to the children talked about the importance of education in making meaningful contribution to the family and society. He urged children to make healthy choices in life to help the family & society grow with positive energy. In Bapudham, SSP interacted with the children as part of the event and asked them to lead a healthy & meaningful life. She asked children to stay away from substance abuse and also help family members stay away from the same. Children enjoyed spending time with police officials and thanked Chandigarh Police for this initiative and showed their willingness to be part of the program in time to come.

144. 05.04.2019 Chandigarh Police organized Tricity Premier Cricket League T20 Tournament -2019 in association with HDFC Bank Chandigarh Police organized Tricity Premier Cricket League T20 Tournament-2019 in association with HDFC Bank at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Chandigarh. Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh inaugurated the opening ceremony at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Chandigarh. Dr. O.P. Mishra IPS, DIG/UT, was the guest of honour and Sh. Vineet Kumar, IPS, SP/HQRs along with other officers was also present at the function. Sh. Dinesh Mongia, former player of Indian Cricket Team, players of Indian Para Cricket Team and Sh. Bipul Sharma, Ranji Player also graced the occasion with their presence. The Children from De-addiction Centre (SPYM) were also brought to Cricket Stadium for motivating towards sports. This Cricket Tournament is being organized with theme “Say no to Drugs, Value Your Life”. Chandigarh Police is also working with children who are vulnerable to substance abuse. In order to promote this positive and healthy lifestyle, today, DGP/UT interacted with these Children from De-addiction Centre (SPYM) and distributed indoor/outdoor sports kits to them at Cricket Stadium, Sector-16, Chandigarh. 145. 30.04.2019 Inter-State Coordination Meetings for General Elections 2019 Chandigarh Police is geared up for General Elections 2019. In a series of inter-state coordination meetings held at various levels of officers, nitty gritties of holding a free, fair and peaceful election was worked out. A meeting was held on 30th April in Police Lines, Chandigarh chaired by DGP Chandigarh Shri Sanjay Baniwal. The meeting was attended by IGP Ropar Ms. V. Neerja, DCP Panchkula Shrimp Kamaldeep Goyal, SP City Mohali Shri Harvinder Singh Virk, DSPs Ambala and Baddi. From Chandigarh Police the meeting was attended by DIG Shri OP Mishra, SSP Traffic & Security Shri Shashank Anand, SSP UT Ms. Nilambari Jagdale, SP Traffic Shri Vineet Kumar, SP City Ms. Niharika Bhatt, ASP South Ms.Neha Yadav and SDPO East Shri Amrao Singh. DSP and SHO coordination meeting was held with the two neighbouring states. On 27th April, meeting was held between DSPs and SHOs of Mohali and Chandigarh. And on 29th April, DSPs and SHOs of Panchkula and Chandigarh met for coordination meeting. The various points discussed in the meetings were as following:-

- increased checking for illicit liquor and drugs before elections. - manpower management and joint checking at permanent makes - setting up of temporary naka points 72 hours before Haryana elections as well as before Punjab-Chandigarh elections. - controlling inter-state movement of bad characters. - planning of joint combing and search operations in border areas - sharing of actionable intelligence on criminal elements. - forming of WhatsApp groups to stay connected and work in tandem with each other to ensure smooth elections. -All the officers pledged to stay connected to ensure that a proper channel of communication is maintained during elections. Joint operations will be conducted at various levels in cooperation with each other and CAPF forces coming to Chandigarh for elections.

146. 01.05.2019 Chandigarh Police Tricity Premier Cricket League T20 Tournament -2019 concluded at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Chandigarh

A closing ceremony of Tricity Premier Cricket League T20 Tournament-2019 was held at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Chandigarh which was organized by Chandigarh Police in association with HDFC Bank from 05.04.2019 to 01.05.2019. Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest at the occasion. Mrs. Lippi Parida also graced the occasion by her presence as Guest of Honour. Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh, Dr. O.P. Mishra IPS, DIG/UT, Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP Sec & Traffic, along with other senior police officers were present at closing ceremony. An oath was administered by Mrs. Lippi Parida to all present there with theme „Say no to Drugs‟. Chandigarh Police is working with children and to create awareness among children about health & hygiene with particular focus on prevention of substance abuse, Chandigarh Police motivated the Children from De-addiction Centre (SPYM) towards sports and bring them as an audience at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Chandigarh. Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Advisor along with Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, DGP/UT, Dr. O.P. Mishra IPS, DIG/UT, distributed hand books among children at present there. This Cricket Tournament was organized with theme “Say no to Drugs, Value Your Life”. In this championship total 24 teams had participated i.e.– CRPF, CBI, IB, Media, HDFC XI, UT Employees, High Court XI, Irrigation Department, UT XI PKL, MC Chandigarh, Infosys, IDS Argus Mohali, Mohali Employee, Intelligaia, PMK info. Tech PKL, Mohali Communication XI, District Court XI, CLSA, TCC, GLEN Mark, Canara Bank, AU Bank, PNB and Chandigarh Police. The final match was played between teams of Chandigarh Police and Infosys. Chandigarh Police win over Infosys by eight wickets and grabbed the trophy. Kapil Punia from Chandigarh Police was declared man of the match and man of the series too.

147. 03.05.2019 16 buses consisting 16 patrolling parties flagged of in view of General Elections In view of forthcoming General Elections-2019, 16 patrolling parties have been formed and provided to the police stations for the purpose of patrolling in their respective areas to conduct smooth and peaceful election. Today, Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT flagged off 16 buses consisting 16 patrolling parties which further departed to their respective police stations areas. The staffs of these patrolling parties were also briefed up by SSP/UT along with Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, SP/City at Multipurpose Hall, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh. All SDPO‟s, DSP‟s, SHO‟s & I/C PP‟s were also present at the time of briefing. During the briefing session following instructions and necessary directions were given by the senior officers: -  Day & night Patrolling will be carried out for 16 days.  16 Buses have been provided to 16 patrolling parties.  All patrolling parties will work full time independently for election purpose.  To remain extra alert while patrolling and also keep watch on illegal activities, suspected movements, criminal movements, and anti-national movements.  Visit slum areas to check weaker section if they are not pressurized, threatened and influenced for political gains by any political party.  Follow all guidelines issued by Election Commission of India.  Keep check on mal-practices related to elections as per guidelines of Election Commission of India.  Police may not be influenced by any political party and should only follow the mandates of Election Commission of India for free and fair election.  During patrolling always talk in polite language and do not behave rudely and arrogantly.  Do not consume alcoholic substance while on duties.  Keep watch on activities like smuggling of liquor and drug pedaling.

Everyone should have telephone number of Police Control Room, SHO‟s and MHC of Police stations. 148. 02.06.20190 Kadeen‟ your friend…your companion a Photo Exhibition by Chandigarh Police concluded successfully The two days photo exhibition „Kadeen‟ your friend…your companion of Chandigarh Police concluded with many events & programme. Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon‟ble Member of Parliament was the Chief Guest at function organized at Elante Mall, Chandigarh. Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, DGP/Chandigarh, Sh. Shashak Anand, IPS, SSP/Sec & Traffic, and other senior officers of Police department were present on this occasion. This two days photo exhibition „Kadeen‟ your friend…your companion was organized at three venues i.e. Sukhna Lake, Plaza Sector 17 & Elante Mall, Chandigarh which exhibited successfully the human side of Chandigarh Police as well as build up a platform for police officials to showcase their skill and ability. Cultural programme like skit by children from „URJA‟, play by theatre artists and demonstration by team of „Swayam‟ Self defense training of Chandigarh Police were also presented before the audience at all three venues. The event was another in the series of the Chandigarh Police initiative to bring Children from De- addiction Centre (SPYM) towards a platform full of skill and art with particular focus on prevention of substance abuse among them. The Children from De-addiction Centre (SPYM) were also sent to all venues in different groups to create motivation and awareness among them. Mrs. Arpana Baniwal w/o Sh. 149. 09.06.2019 Inauguration of „Kadeen‟ your friend…your companion a photo exhibition by Chandigarh Police Chandigarh Police organized two days photo exhibition „Kadeen‟ which has been inaugurated today by Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon‟ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh in the presence of Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Home Secretary, Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, DGP/Chandigarh, Sh. Shashak Anand, IPS, SSP/Sec & Traffic, Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT and other senior officers of Chandigarh Administration and Police department. Sh. Jasbir Jassi Punjabi pop singer also graced the occasion by his presence as Guest of Honour. The two days photo exhibition „Kadeen‟ your friend…your companion is organized at three venues i.e. Sukhna Lake, Plaza Sector 17 & Elante Mall, Chandigarh which will give a platform to police officials of Chandigarh Police with an aim to provide direct interface with the public to showcase their ability/skills. 150. 20.06.2019 Mega Job Fair „Sahyog‟ initiated by Chandigarh Police Chandigarh Police initiated program namely „Sahyog‟ under the flagship scheme of central govt. namely “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana” to engage youths by imparting and upgrading their skills as per their natural caliber under the guidance of Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, DGP/Chandigarh. This program equipped them with high quality training to help them access the opportunities. Under this skill development program 480 students were trained under vocational courses in (1) Beauty and wellness (2) General Duty Hospital Assistant (3) Retail Store Assistant (4) Food & Beverage assistance. Mrs. Nilambri Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT/Chandigarh was appointed as Nodal Officer for the effective implementation of this scheme. Earlier a counseling session was also organized at Police Lines Sector 26 under the chairmanship of Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, DGP/Chandigarh wherein around 600 people had participated to get training. Counseling session of identified candidates was conducted by Mrs. Nilambri Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT/Chandigarh and SDPO‟s. Under this programme, a survey was conducted and targeted beneficiaries were identified amongst School Dropouts, Victims of Crime, Juvenile delinquents, Families in dire need, Drug Addicts or youth in high risk category of becoming drug addicts. Under this project a „Mega Job Fair‟ was organized on 20.06.2019 at Multipurpose Hall, Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh to give placement to youths who were trained by Chandigarh Police free of cost under skill training development programme in various vocational courses. Several reputed companies i.e. PUMA, EUREKA FORBES, Burger King, Burger Singh, Domino‟s Pizza, MC Donald‟s, KFC, Taj, Lemon Tree, SAROVAR, Pizza Hut, SODEXO, PORTEA, VLCC, OLA, Max Life Insurance, HDFC Bank, etc. will offer placement to these trained youths. Sh. Manish Kumar, CEO of NSDC was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, IPS, DGP/UT Chandigarh while welcoming the chief guest addressed all the participants of Mega Job Fair and also apprised about the scheme. He also congratulated the candidates for getting offer letters with their hard work they have done during these courses. He also appreciated and thanked to both the training partners and placement partners. A short video regarding project SAHYOG was played. In which, one of the candidate (victim of domestic violence) shared her journey to become self dependent and she took care of her children and herself when abandoned by husband and In-laws. Training partners Mr. Jayanta Dass and Mr. Rajiv also addressed the gathering and also congratulated Chandigarh Police for successfully organizing this Mega Job Fair. Mr. Jayanta Dass also shared that father of one of the candidates meet him and disclosed that he is working as Auto Driver and used to drop passengers in big hotels, now his son hired by Taj Group of Hotel. He is very thankful to Chandigarh Police for this initiative „SAHYOG‟ which gives opportunity to his son to touch the sky. Chief Guest Mr. Manish Kumar given letters of appreciation to Sh. Aakarshan Chauhan, Sh. Nidhi Batra, Sh. Jayanta Dass, Sh. Rajiv (Training Partner), Insp. Poonam Dilawari SHO/PS-26, Insp. Rajiv Kumar SHO/PS-11, Insp. Neeraj Sarna SHO/PS-3, Insp. 151. 31.07.2 019 Mega Demonstration on 'Yoga Protocol' Today, Chandigarh Police organized a mega demonstration on 'Yoga Protocol' in Convocation Hall at Punjab University, Chandigarh. Honorable Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore was the Chief Guest at the function. World renowned yoga expert Padamshree Dr. H.R. Nagendra (Chancellor of SVYASA University, Bangalore) was the keynote speaker on Science of Yoga in Stress Management. This programme was also attended by Director of PGI Prof. Jagat Ram, Vice Chancellor of Panjab University Dr. Raj Kumar, Director of Research and Development at SVYASA, Dr. NK Manjunath and Sh. Prem Bhandari. The program was organized under the guidance of Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh who contributed at the function with his presence as well as other senior officers Sh. Omvir Singh Bishnoi, IPS, DIG/UT/Chandigarh, Sh. Shashank Anand, IPS, SSP Sec & Traffic & Smt. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP/UT, Chandigarh along with other officers of Police Department. About 1200 persons including policemen, new recruits, students of "URJA" initiative (drug free mohalla program) of Chandigarh also witnessed the programme.

Introduction The programme was organized for introduction to the joint research on Yoga and common yoga protocol for de-addiction. The scientific benefits of Yoga were enlightened at the function and a live demonstration of Yoga protocol by two qualified trainers was given by showing some important steps of Yoga protocol for de-addiction. An inspiring speech was given by none other than Padamshree Dr. H.R. Nagendra, founder of SVYASA world‟s largest Yoga University and an architect of Yoga program in the Country. He is advising Govt. of India on various innovative and transformational evidence based Yoga programs (like Niyantriti Madhumeh Bharat) ranging from UN‟s International Day of Yoga Adoption and accreditation to its incorporation in Schools, Colleges, academic Institutes. SVYASA is the recognized centre for Inter University Yoga Research with NAC A++ certification.

Today, Memorandum of Undertaking was signed between Chandigarh Police & Panjab University for the advancement of Yoga protocol and better Yoga research and a letter of intent between Chandigarh Police and SVYASA (University of Bangalore).

MOU between Chandigarh Police and Panjab University This MOU will enable exchange of knowledge, expertise in areas of cyber security, forensics and psychology application in order to configure new recruitment procedures as per fast changing requirements. It will also open new avenues for police personnel to undertake short courses or enrol into degree programs of Panjab University besides sharing resorces of two organizations.

During the speech, DGP/Chandigarh emphasized that “Today‟s program not only provides an opportunity to understand the science behind Yoga but to also witness a Yoga protocol of de-addiction. We also plan to examine the effect of common Yoga protocol, plasticized on International Day of Yoga, each year on various biomarkers of personality development of our recruits before they are ready for their duties in Chandigarh Police. I hope the joint research provides the necessary substrate for more projects to follow beneficial for Chandigarh as well as for training regime of new recruit in advancing as culture of collaboration between academic institutes and Police Organizations.

153. 04.09.2019 Special Checking and law & order arrangements for Student‟s Council Election and various Students‟ Bodies

In connection with forthcoming Panjab University Campus Student‟s Council Election and various Students‟ Bodies in the affiliated 11 Colleges at Chandigarh on 06-09-2019 at 9:00am and at Arts Block I & II for evening studies at 5:00pm an elaborate law & order arrangements have been made. There are 62 departments and around 16138 votes will be polled at 167 polling booths (28 buildings) at Panjab University, whereas for evening studies there are 1500 votes. Similarly there are different 08 departments at South Campus UIET, Sec.25, Chandigarh. As per report, alliance of 18 different parties contesting Panjab University elections. Keeping in view the sensitivity of elections search operations was conducted at Panjab University Hostels to avoid any untoward incident and to restrain the unauthorised entry of outsiders at Panjab University. Further, special teams of intelligence and operations cell was deployed to keep an eye on any unsocial activities at Panjab University 24 X7, so that preventive measures could be initiated in advance. In addition to above intelligence wings of Haryana, Punjab and Himachal states was requested to share important inputs / information regarding gangster unlawful activities in the election of Panjab University Student‟s if came to notice. Thus; to ensure peaceful and fair manner elections Chandigarh Police was made adequate law and order, security and traffic arrangements at Panjab University and other 11 Colleges by deploying GOs-08, SHOs-08, Inspectors-18 and NGOs/ORs- 974 (Total-1008) in addition to all logistics. Further adequate arrangements for security of election material was deployed. Lady GO and Lady Inspectors were specially deployed at girls‟ colleges. Six Executive Magistrates was nominated with GOs. Panjab University -2019 Elections were held in fair and peaceful manner.

154. 20.09.2019 गहृ मंत्री भारत सरकार 饍वारा देश मᴂ ऩहऱी एकीकृ त ERSS, E-Beatbook व E-Saathi App का उदघाटन चण्डीगढ भᴂ आऩातकार भᴂ आभ नागरयक को सहामता के लरए अरग अरग न륍फय माद यखने की- आवश्मकता नह ॊ होगी। इसके लरए नमी सेवाEmergency Response Support System Dial 112 ऩय सबी तयह की सहामता आभ जनता के लरए उऩर녍ध कयवाई जाएगी जजसका उ饍घाटन बायत के , भाननीम गहृ भॊत्री श्री अलभत बाई शाह ने होटरHayat Residency ,Ph-I, Industrial Area चण्डीगढ भᴂ अऩने कयकभरⴂ 饍वाया ककमा है। इसके अततरयक्त चण्डीगढ ऩुलरस के “अ配याधुननक E-Beat Book System” की बी शु셁आत की गई है। इसके तहत चण्डीगढ भे कु र “अटऱ सहभागगता केन्द्र 54” फनाए गमे हℂ । आज से सैक्टय 9 जथथत चण्डीगढ ऩुलरस भुख्मारम भᴂ 112Common Control Room से ऩहरे से चालरत( 0.100डामर ऩ ,ऩुलरस( 101 ,)दभकर( 108 व )थवाथथम सेवाओॊ )को जोड ददमा गमा हℂ। जजसके लरए ऩुलरस Control Room भᴂ इन सबी HELP LINE के कभमचारयमⴂ का अरग अरग-Desk फनामा गमा है , dispatcher मह ॊ फैठकय अऩने -अऩने ववबाग के call dispatchers के जरयए तनकटतभ उऩर녍ध PCR/Ambulance/Fire Tender को सूचचत कयᴂगᴂ । इस Control Room भᴂ call divert कयने की सुववधा बी होगी। जफ तक आभ जनता इस आऩातकार न सेवा डायऱ 112 के फाये भे ऩूय तयह से जाग셁क नह हो जाती तफ तक ऩुयाने आऩातकार न सेवा 100, 101, 108 बी चारू यखे जाएगᴂ। बववष्म भᴂ अन्म सबी आऩातकार न सेवाओॊ जैसे कक मातामत (1073) भदहरा है쥍ऩ राईन फार )181 ,1091( है쥍ऩ राईन (1098), व आऩदा प्रफन्धन सदहत अन्म सेवाऔॊ को बी इस आऩातकार न सेवा डायऱ 112 से जोड ददमा जाएगा। आज तक आऩातकार सहामता के लरए से अचधक आऩात 20 न륍फय जनता की सुववधा के लरए चर यहे थे जजसकीवजह से कई फाय एसी जथथतत ऩैदा हो जाती थी कक मह ध्मान भᴂ ह नह यहता था कक कौन सा आऩात न륍फय जाय ककमा गमा- सी सेवा के लरए कौन- है। कई फाय न륍फय व्मथत यहने के कायण लभर नह ॊ ऩाता था। रेककन अफ मह सेवा शु셁 होने से इन फ- सबी ददक्कतⴂ का साभना नह ॊ कयना ऩडेगा। ईीीट फुक लसथटभ के तहत हय “ईबीट बुक-” के ईन्चाजम को Android Phone ददमे गमे हℂ ईन्चाज म के ऩास ऩूय - जजसके अन्दय फीट , ऩुलरलसगॊ का रयकाड म होगा एवभ ् इस पोन ऩय एक जक्रक कयत े ह ऩूये शहय से जुडी हय जानकाय जैसे आबूषण ववक्रे ता ,कक फाजाय, शयाफ के ठेके वरयष्ठ न ,ीागरयकⴂ की सूची ऩीजी ,house detailऺेत्र , के अ楍छे फुये नागरयको के फाये भᴂ फीट ईन्चाज म को लभर जाएगी। इस ऩय अऩयाचधमⴂ के फाये भे ऩूया रयकाड म दज म होगा जफकक आज से ऩहरे मह जानकाय ऩुलरस कभचम ारयमⴂ को अऩने आऩ ववलबन्न ऩुलरस यजजथटयⴂ से जुटानी ऩडती थी। आभ नागरयक Google Play Store मा ,Apple Store से अऩने भोफाईर ऩय E-Saathi App Download कय सकता है जजससे कक कोई बी नागरयक ककसी बी प्रकाय की , सट्टे फाजी आदद की जानकाय ऩुलरस को आसानी से दे सके गा।-जुआ ,बफक्री-नशा ,आऩयाचधक गततववचध इसके साथ ह ऺेत्र के वरयष्ठ नागयजीक बी इस एऩ के भाध्मभ से ऩुलरस के स륍ऩकम भᴂ यहᴂगे। E-Beat भᴂ interactive feature बी होगा जजससे कक स륍फजन्धत ऺेत्र के तनवासी Beat In-charge से सीधा स륍ऩकम कयके अऩने सुझाव औय लशकामत दे ऩाएगᴂ। इसके अततरयक्त “ईसाथी एऩ-” से आभ जनता को अऩने थाने भे ना जाकय “आऩकी ऩुलऱस आऩके 饍वार” मोजना के तहत ् अऩने ऺेत्र के थाना अध्मऺ को- सूचना देनी होगी कक भुझेPCC,ऩासऩोटम सत्माऩन , ककयामेदाय सत्माऩन चरयत्र सत्माऩन ,नौकय सत्माऩन , आदद सेवाओॊ की ज셁यत है औय उनके एक फटन दफात े ह स륍फजन्धत थानाध्मऺ उनके ददए हुए सभम ऩय फीट लसऩाह बेजकय वाॉतछत सेवा प्रदान कयेगा। इसके लरए नागरयकⴂ को एक फटन दफाकय स륍फजन्धत एजलरके शन डाउनरोड कयना होगा। इस प्रो饍मोचगक तकनीकी कु शरता से एक ओय जहाॊ फीट लसऩाह सशक्त औय सऺभ होगा वह ॊ मे CCTNS औय ERSS से ऩूणतम : सभामोजजत व अनुकू र होगा। इससे दो तयपा सूचना का सॊचाय सयर हो सके गा। 54 अटर सहबाचगता केन्र शहय की सबीDivisions भᴂ फनाए गमे हℂ औय प्रत्मेक दो फीट ऩय एक फीट अचधकाय तनमुक्त ककमा गमा है। जनता अऩने थाने के अततरयक्त- अटऱ सहभागगता केन्द्र भᴂ जाकय सुववधानुसाय ऩुलरस को लशकामत व सुझाव दे सकती है। अफ चण्डीगढ भᴂ फीट थटाप की कोई बी Law and order duty नह रगाई जाएगी वो केवर अऩने ऺेत्र भᴂ यहकय ऩुलरलसगॊ व घदटत अऩयाधⴂ की ह जाॊच कयᴂगᴂ। इस क्राजन्तकाय तकनीकी 셁ऩ से सु饃ढ मोजना के 饍वाया आऩातकार न प्रततकक्रमा सभम भᴂ कभी आएगी। आऩातकार न सेवाओॊ भᴂ सभम अत्मचधक भहत्वऩूण म है क्मⴂकक कु छ ऺण ह ककसी का जीवन फचा सकत े है। 155. 30.09.2019 Sports Acheivement 53rd Asian Body Building & Physique Sports Championship is being held from 27th September 2019 to 3rd October 2019 at Battam, Indonesia. Inspector Baldev Kumar, of Chandigarh Police Presently Posted as SHO Police Station 34 Chandigarh has won Silver Medal in the event in 80 to 90 KG weight Category. The championship is being organised by Indian Body Building Federation 156. 28.03.2020 In wake of outbreak of COVID-19 throughout the world and to counter any emergency situation in the City, the Chandigarh Police is fully committed to extend full cooperation and to remain on toe 24 X 7. On 28.03.2020, SHO‟s along with their staff of Chandigarh Police distributed cooked food to the needy and poor citizens and laborers residing in various colonies under their Police Stations jurisdiction. Chandigarh police distributed total 3500 packets of cooked food among the peoples of various colonies in the city. Chandigarh police is committed to provide all sort of assistance to the citizen. 157. 19.05.2020 In continuous efforts to help the needy people, Chandigarh Police is fully committed to extend full cooperation and remain on toe 24X7 to counter any emergency situation in the City. Chandigarh Police is sensitive towards hardships being faced by stranded people / migrants, especially ladies and children and handling all the situations in a very humane manner with lot of patience. Today, Ms. Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, SSP, UT, Chandigarh visited different places of the city to help the poor and needy people. SSP, Chandigarh visited ISBT Sector 43, Chandigarh through where large numbers of stranded people / migrants returning to their home towns. About 600 items like masks, sanitizers and pairs of slippers were distributed among the needy people. 20 boxes (about 250 pcs) of juice were also distributed among health workers, sweepers, other MC officials & police officials. Thereafter, SSP, Chandigarh visited Shri Sidh Baba Beri Wala Mandir, Sector 35, Chandigarh to boost up the morale of people / volunteers who are managing Langar Sewa since 57 days. SSP, Chandigarh appreciated their efforts of helping others. Sanitary napkins and packs of juice were also distributed among the ladies. SSP, Chandigarh also visited Hallomajra, Chandigarh where Masks & ration packets were distributed among the Safai Karamchari‟s and workers of water supply. Sanitary napkins & Masks were also distributed among ladies. SSP, Chandigarh encouraged the health workers, sweepers & workers of water supply by showering flower petals on them who are performing their duties with full devotion as courageous corona warriors in their respective field. Many social organizations are also coming forward to make their presence by donating the items like masks, sanitizers etc for this noble cause. Chandigarh Police appeals to the general public to follow the directions issued by Chandigarh Administration in order to fight COVID-19.

158. 22.05.2020 In order to professional competence, the Chandigarh police are committed to its motto “We Care For You”. Today in a rare example of brotherhood among the different communities Sh Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, DGP Chandigarh Police alongwith Sh. Omvir Bisnoai, IPS, DIG, Sh Ram Gopal DSP CID and Sh Dilsher Singh, SDPO/East and other Police officers reached out to religious and other representatives of Muslim Community namely Molana Ajmal Khan of Jama Masjid Sector-20, Kari Shamsher of Masjid Sector-45 and Imam Mohd. Imran of Masjid Manimajra, UT Chandigarh, Hazi Khurshid, Municipal Councillor, Azmat Chaudhary, Anwar-Ul-Haq, Basir Khan President Jammu Kashmir Labour, Ram Darbar, Mohd. Sadiq, Ali Ahmed, Hazi Zahir, Wasim, Imran and Noor Mohd at Zama Maszid Sector-20, Chandigarh and given 7-quintal „Seviyan‟ as a gesture of humanity for further distribution by them in Muslim community and Maszids of Chandigarh as well as tri-city on the occasion of last Friday in this Ramjan Month to celebrate up-coming EID to be held on 25.05.2020. This unique move will definitely cement the brotherhood relationships and communal harmony among the communities, especially in Muslims, not only in Chandigarh but in the whole country. The religious leaders of Muslim Community also pay their respect to the move of the Chandigarh Police and presented a Bouquet to the Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, DGP Chandigarh, Sh. Om Vir Singh, IPS, DIG Chandigarh and Sh. Ram Gopal DSP/CID on the occasion as a token of affection. The Muslim religious leaders have decided that no one will come to the Masjid for offering Namaj on EID i.e on 25.05.2020 rather they have to offer their Namaj at their homes only, which is a welcome step in fight together against the pandemic COVID-19. Kari Shamsher also said that it is the first time after the Independence that the Muslim Community is not coming in Masjids to offer Namaj on the eve of EID, which is an example in the interest of our Country and humanity because pandemic worldwide Corona virus does not recognised any religion, caste, colour, race. Therefore, we are all together in fight against dreaded COVID-19 and not to visit Masjid on the eve of EID. In order to ensure it Molanas of the Masjids will also give a message during Ajaan to all the members of Muslim community to offer Namaj at their Homes only and not to visit Masjids on the eve of EID.

159. 19.06.2020 Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT, Chandigarh has approved the promotions of total 928 Police officials who have been granted personal ranks, including ASI (390), Head Constables (66) & Senior Constables (472) as a welfare measures in Chandigarh Police department. Last year also, the DGP/UT had approved promotions of total 467 Police Personnel‟s who were promoted to their personnel ranks including 416 (ASI) & 51 (Head Constables) on the occasion of 15th August 2019. Besides this, total 307 police personnel‟s have also been promoted to their regular due promotions for ranks of Inspector, Sub Inspector and ASI betwen August 2019 to till date, including 68 personnel promoted today. The Personal Rank promotions and the regular promotions are an important step in keeping up the organisational efficiency. This will not only build up the morale of police personnel but give confidence to those who were awaiting their due promotions. The department will also be sending large batches for promotional training so that pipeline of eligible personnel is created and future promotions can be done without any delay. 160. 11.10.2020 Organized painting competition on the occasion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Chandigarh Police organized a program on the occasion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. Around 46 school children participated in the painting competition. Program was organized under Prime Minister's Skill Development Scheme. The event was organized at Government Model High School RC1 at Dhanas Chandigarh. On this occasion, Sh.Kuldeep Singh Chahal, SSP, Chandigarh presided over the program as the chief guest. On this occasion, SSP/UT said that " it is a very beautiful effort that the program was organized by Chandigarh Police and Congratulations to the team that organized the work." SSP/UT selected the art work of children and distributed prizes to the winners & appreciated all students for their efforts in the competition. This program was organized in collaboration with SPYM under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. On this occasion, Sh. Surendra Kumar, Principal, Government Model High School, SP W&CSU, Ms. Neha Yadav, DSP Central Sh. Krishna Kumar, Sh. Charanjit Singh Virk DSP PRO and Women Child Sports Unit, Police Station Incharge Inspector Jasvir Singh, Inspector Parvesh Sharma, Inspector Asha Sharma and school staff were present. The Social Distancing and guidelines of Covid-19 were followed on this occasion. 161. 6.12.2020 Public Meeting For better coordination between the police and the public, a meeting with more than 50 members of FOSWAC / RWAs was presided over by Sh. K. B. Singh, IPS, IGP (Retd) Single Member Police Reforms Commission at Neighbourhood Park Sector 21-C Chandigarh today.

Addressing the first ever public meeting of the newly formed Police Reforms Commission, Sh. K.B. Singh said that the focus of the Police will be to ensure cordial and cooperative environment in its day to day functioning. He said that the mechanism to deal public grievances in respect of Police Department will also be streamlined. Keeping pace with the latest technological advancements, the Police Telecommunication Network will also be upgraded, he added.

During the meeting Chairman & Members of FOSWAC gave various suggestions on police reforms which have been noted down and incorporated in the report of this Commission.

The meeting was also attended by the DSP/CID Ram Gopal, SHO/Police Station Sector 19, Inspector Shri Parkash, Police Reforms Commission and area beat staff.

Shri K.B. Singh, IPS,IGP(Retd) has been appointed as Single Member, Police Reforms Commission U.T. Chadigarh who is required to submit a comprehensive report. This Commission is required to interact with various Govt. Departments, NGOs, RWAs, Market Associations to seek their suggestions on police reforms in U.T. Chandigarh.
