CR Exotic Honeymoon COSTA R ICA EXOTIC HONEYMOON 8 Days / 7 Nights In the most exotic locations in Costa Rica Introduction This Honeymoon Package has been designed for honeymooners that are looking forward to spend a great time in Costa Rica, love nature and the exotic places that Costa Rica offers to its visitors. A very exo- tic and unique honeymoon indeed. Day 1 On your arrival at Costa Rica, you will be picked up at Juan Santamaria Intl Airport on our priva- te shuttle to check you in at Hotel Grano de Oro, Private Shuttle located in San Jose, the capital city. Hotel Grano de Oro is a true oasis, a sanctuary in the heart of a bustling city. Converted from a Tropical Victorian mansion, the hotel maintains the warmth and comfort of a private home. The Hotel Grano de Oro hotel's charming atrium terrace and corridors have sparkling fountains and lush tropical plan- ting, and rooftop deck offers soothing Jacuzzis and a spot for secluded sunbathing. Here you will spend the night at your room furnished in Tropi- cal Victorian styles with wrought-iron beds and rich damask fabrics in three jeweled color sche- mes - navy, burgundy and forest-green. The art and furnishings are handcrafted by Costa Rican artists. Relax and enjoy yourselves on your first day in Costa Rica, awaiting the next day. Spa Terrace Day 2 and 3 On your second day in Costa Rica, we will take you to the Pacuare River. You will be picked up at the hotel early in the morning and be able to enjoy Rafting Pacuare River a delicious Costa Rican breakfast on your way to the rafting spot. You will arrive to the riverside where you will have time to change clothes and do any last min- ute need. Once ready you will be taken to our pri- vate putt-in, your friendly and professional guides will load your gear into dry bags, prepare the equipment and give you complete safety and pad- dle instruction. The first day's Class III rapids welcome you to the Pacuare gorge's charm as you raft deep in the heart of primary rainforest. While Rivers and Waterfalls your guides prepare you a hearty picnic lunch on the riverbank, you'll be led through the jungle to an enchanting waterfall. Before you know it, you'll arrive at the lodge in the middle of the rainforest where you can spend the afternoon relaxing, hiking or soaking in some waterfall or river. You will spend the evening at this magical lodge and enjoy of a delicious dinner. On your honeymoon, you will have time to go to your room and enjoy of a nature’s sounds and let romance embrace you in this exotic place. The next day, after a hearty breakfast and load- ing the rafts, you'll prepare to paddle down the Pacuare River Canyon Pacuare gorge past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids. A snack stop by the riverside lets you explore more waterfalls and natural waterslides. An adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montañas and many more, will have you cheering ecstatically. Hot lunch will be served at the Operations Center. Showers, changing rooms, cold and hot drinks and snacks are also available. After- Braulio Carrillo wards, you will be heading back to San Jose National Park and staying at Hotel Grano de Oro. This is a scenic drive and you will get the chance to see the Braulio Carrillo National Park, so remember to have your camera ready for some pic- tures along the way. Once at Hotel Grano de Oro, you will check in and spend the night at this great hotel. Day 4-7 On this day we will take you on a private Local Flight shuttle to the Tobias Bolanos Airport to check in for your flight to Tambor. After an hour flight, you will be landing at Tambor Airport in the Nicoya Peninsula on the North Pacific coastline. A shuttle will be waiting for you to take you to the Hotel Tango Mar. Hotel Tango Mar No honeymoon is complete until you stay at the beach and spend romantic nights at this magnifi- cent location. People come to this place seeking nature in abundance, a Garden of Eden, secluded beaches, beautiful, even spectacular surroundings, an oasis of comfort, active pursuits, or just lazing around with no crowds, no hustle, no bustle. On arrival, a welcome cocktail is going to be served before taking you to your Tropical Suite. These unique and charming rooms are surrounded by Tropical Suite exuberant tropical gardens and are just 90 steps from the beach on a bluff overlooking the Pacific. Elegantly appointed, each suite is graced with hand carved four post canopy king size bed. All rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans, private bath with jaccuzi, hair dryer, mini bar, coffee Canopy Adventure maker, safe deposit box, telephone and sat- ellite TV. All suites are contained within an elliptical, shell shaped cluster and share a sun deck. The next days you will also enjoy of two great activities. After having breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked up at the hotel to take you to the Montezuma Canopy Ad- venture. At 8:45am you will get to Monte- zuma Village, then our driver will lead you to the first of 11 platforms, nine cables, for you to experience a unforgettable adven- ture, take a look at the unique wildlife & birds up in the trees. There is so much nature to see and enjoy, and a great adventure, also! The next day you will also enjoy of a delicious breakfast and later we will take you to the Tor- tuga Island Snorkeling Adventure. At approxi- mately 7:30 a.m. we will board our boat in Ba- hia Ballena. You will enjoy a relaxing cruise and watch the sea birds and jumping fish while we cruise out of the Bay on our way to Tortuga Is- Bahia Ballena land. You may see dolphins, whales and sea tur- tles along the way. We will pass a shipwreck and a magnificent rock archway carved by na- ture. Dolphins at the bay Once you get to the island, you can snorkel and see lots of coral, a large variety of tropical fish, oysters and octopus. The flora and fauna is stun- ning and is nature at its best ! You can enjoy a stroll along the gorgeous white sand beaches and be able to rent kayaks and other water sport equipment. Refreshments and snacks will be pro- vided during this tour. This tour is also available in the afternoon if you prefer to wake up late and head for the tour later in the day. An Exotic Honeymoon Indeed! Day 7 and 8 On your seventh day, you will head back to San Jose. You will enjoy of a delicious breakfast at the hotel to later pick you up and transfer you to Tambor Airport. Your Hotel Grano de Oro flight will be of no more than an hour and a private shuttle will be waiting for you in San Jose to take you to Hotel Grano de Oro. You will have the rest of the day to enjoy yourselves and relax on your last day in Cos- ta Rica. Additional material besides that avail- able to Nelson indicates that as these two forms have dis- tinct geographic ranges they are geographical races rather than color phases. The blackish-backed race, Sciurzcs a. dor- salis (Gray), occurs in the Pacific lowlands and is represented by specimens from Liberia, LaCruz, El Pelon, and Miravalles. The type locality of this form has been fixed by Nelson as Liberia, Costa Rica. Durham Center for Responsible Travel A Nonprofit Research Organization Stanford University and Washington, DC www.responsibletravel.org April 2010 1 Foreword The following Summary Report, based on two years of research and some two dozen individual studies by a team of Costa Rican and U.S. experts, offers the first multidimensional analysis of the phenomena that Costa Ricans have dubbed “residential tourism.” While this term has become popular, most Costa Ricans have had little understanding of its dimensions and implications for the country, the country’s Pacific coast, or Costa Rica’s tourism industry. The study traces the origins of this coastal transformation from the 1970s to the present, with particular focus on the real estate and construction boom and bust (caused by the global economic crisis) from 2002 through 2009. As members of the Advisory Committee that has assisted the research team, we believe that the study’s findings and recommendations can play a constructive role in helping to foment public discussion, civic engagement, and policy reforms to ensure a sustainable economy in coastal and marine tourism. Over the last decade, Costa Rica’s Pacific coast has become one of the epicenters in the Americas for rapid beach resort and vacation home development closely tied to the U.S. market.     Project Document Republic of Costa Rica United Nations Development Programme Global Environment Facility Overcoming Barriers to Sustainability of Costa Rica’s Protected Areas System PIMS 3423 Atlas project ID 00056040 Brief description: Despite accounting for a mere 0.03% of the world’s total terrestrial surface, Costa Rica harbours the equivalent to 4.4% of all globally known biodiversity. Worldwide, Costa Rica ranks among the 20 most biologically diverse countries in terms of total number of species, while it is among the top countries globally in regard to density (no. of species/area). The country also has the largest diversity of known plant and vertebrate species within the Central American region. Still, Costa Rica faces an apparent paradox. On the one hand, it has an extraordinary endowment in biodiversity, and has spared no effort to promote itself as a country which effectively protects a quarter of its territory and as one of the world’s foremost eco-tourism destination. On the other hand, the Costa Rica state struggles with the pangs of growth of a national Protected Areas System, which has expanded over the past decades with subsequent requirements in human and financial resources. Moreover, increasingly, the ecological viability of the existing network of public protected areas and private reserves hinges on biophysical processes that go beyond the boundaries of protected areas. Hence, the long-term ecological viability of Costa Rica’s Protected Areas System will to a large degree depend on its capacity to improve its current design and geographical configuration. The proposed project will support Costa Rica in overcoming the barriers to consolidating and strengthening its Protected Areas System administered by the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC).
