  • I Can't Generalize a Whole Lot About the Maxthon Cloud Browser, Which Got
I can’t generalize a whole lot about the Maxthon Cloud Browser, which got a major upgrade to Version 4.x in a December preview and was officially released on February 25. Maxthon Cloud Browser versions are available for Windows, OS X, iOS and Android, and it’s designed to provide users with a seamless and unified user experience across multiple devices and platforms. I can’t speak to the Windows and Android versions, but I’m unevenly impressed with the OS X and iOS variants. I found myself quickly becoming a fan of the OS X version; it’s a lot like Google’s Chrome browser—very fast and slick with super-smooth performance—but more so. It incorporates pretty much everything I like about Chrome, such as an automatic Google Translate machine translation option. The iOS version isn’t bad, just not nearly as outstanding as the OS X version. Interestingly, that would be my assessment of Google Chrome for iOS compared with Chrome for OS X, as well, and I think the reason in both instances is Apple’s imposition on its own WebKit technology on iOS browsers. Using Maxthon Cloud Browser for iOS is not terribly different from the standard iOS Safari experience in terms of speed, but the iOS version of Maxthon has an absolutely maddening bug that sporadically turns the screen brightness on my iPad 2 down to minimum, obliging a trip to the iOS Settings to restore it. I suspect that Maxthon for iOS’s Brightness Control feature that purportedly lets you adjust screen brightness from within the browser, and/or Night Mode that adjusts screen brightness in low light situations are responsible for this behavior.

Why Websites Can Change Without Warning WHY WOULD MY WEBSITE LOOK DIFFERENT WITHOUT NOTICE? HISTORY: Your website is a series of files & databases. Websites used to be “static” because there were only a few ways to view them. Now we have a complex system, and telling your webmaster what device, operating system and browser is crucial, here’s why: TERMINOLOGY: You have a desktop or mobile “device”. Desktop computers and mobile devices have “operating systems” which are software. To see your website, you’ll pull up a “browser” which is also software, to surf the Internet. Your website is a series of files that needs to be 100% compatible with all devices, operating systems and browsers. Your website is built on WordPress and gets a weekly check up (sometimes more often) to see if any changes have occured. Your site could also be attacked with bad files, links, spam, comments and other annoying internet pests! Or other components will suddenly need updating which is nothing out of the ordinary. WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE IF SOMETHING HAS CHANGED? Any update to the following can make your website look differently: There are 85 operating systems (OS) that can update (without warning). • Maxthon Browser 2.0 Reviewer’S Guide
Carpe Textus Don’t just surf the Web. Seize it! Maxthon Maxthon Browser 2.0 Reviewer’s Guide By Ron White, Maxthon Advocate Foreword I’ve reviewed software for more than 20 years, both as a freelance writer and as executive editor of PC Computing magazine. I’ve read a lot of reviewer’s guides and thrown a lot in the trash can. This is the first time I’ve written one. That’s because Maxthon is one of the few program’s I’ve seen in 20 years that gets so many things right, that anticipate the features I would like in a program, and has the versatility, performance, and smarts to grow into something more than a browser–in much the same way that Windows has become more than an operating system. The one thing it hasn’t had it the chutzpah to get out and let people know how sweet a browser Maxthon is. Sure, it’s got about 12 million users, but 10 million of those are in China, where it originated. (There’s an interesting story behind that I’ll tell you sometime.) So when a review I wrote of Maxthon led to some conversations with Maxthon’s owners, I decided this was a project I’d like to be a part of, and I came out of semi-retirement to give Maxthon some help explaining what’s different and wonderful about the browser to people outside China. (Full disclosure here: I’m being paid by Maxthon to write this guide, help them in other ways to market the browser in the United States–if market is the right term to apply to a product that its totally free and how makers have no plans to sell, ever.) That said and having, myself, read and tossed a quadzillion reviewers’ guides over the years, I have an idea of what you’d like to know.

UNIT – V NETWORKING GENERAL Society is shaped by sudden growth and development of the information technology (IT) resulting with its great dependency on the knowledge and competence of individuals from the IT area. Although this dependency is growing day by day, the human right to education and information is not extended to the IT area. Problems that are affecting society as a whole are emerging, creating gaps and distancing people from the main reason and motivation for advancement-opportunity. Being a computer illiterate person today means being a person who is unable to participate in modern society, and a person without opportunity; and despite the acknowledged necessity and benefits of inclusive computer literacy from institutions like the European Commission, UNESCO, OECD, there are still groups of people having difficulties accessing basic computer education viz. persons with disabilities, persons with learning difficulties, migrant workers, unemployed persons, persons that live in remote (rural) areas where IT education is not accessible. DEFINITIONS AND TERMS • Internet – set of millions of computers worldwide connected into a network with the purpose of exchanging data among users • WWW - World Wide Web – one of the services on the Internet which we use to browse web pages (set of HTML documents connected with hyperlinks) • HTTP – Hypertext Transfer Protocol – protocol (set of rules) that allows transmission of information published on the Web • URL – Uniform Resource Locator - Web address of a particular object (Web pages,

  • Maxthon Has Launched a New Version of Its Internet Browser for Mac
February 25, 2013 Maxthon has launched a new version of its Internet browser for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android devices today called Maxthon Cloud Browser, following a preview release last December. The revamped web browser has a number of new features to tempt users over from Chrome, Firefox and other popular alternatives, including cloud push – which allows anyone with a Maxthon Passport account to push web content to and from different devices. Maxthon’s updated browser also allows users to push all of their files, including text, images, videos, web links and maps, directly to another person’s device via email or a text message. The kicker is that the other person doesn’t need any version of the Maxthon Cloud Browser to view it; instead, it’s accessible straight from the outset. This new Cloud Sharing feature wasn’t available in the preview release last December, and should appeal to anyone who regularly collaborates with other people who are on the move. Maxthon has also opted to implement a cloud-based storage service similar to Dropbox or Google Drive. It’s a bit more specific though, giving users instant access to all of their web downloads – both online and locally – from any device with the Maxthon Cloud Browser installed. As with the preview release, it also uses Maxthon’s new cloud engine called C4, which the company describes as a “fast and powerful pushing, storage and syncing engine”. Combined with data encryption and a distributed architecture for storage, it should also mean that the browser is plenty capable of protecting and securing your data.

  • OSINT Handbook September 2020
OPEN SOURCE INTELLIGENCE TOOLS AND RESOURCES HANDBOOK 2020 OPEN SOURCE INTELLIGENCE TOOLS AND RESOURCES HANDBOOK 2020 Aleksandra Bielska Noa Rebecca Kurz, Yves Baumgartner, Vytenis Benetis 2 Foreword I am delighted to share with you the 2020 edition of the OSINT Tools and Resources Handbook. Once again, the Handbook has been revised and updated to reflect the evolution of this discipline, and the many strategic, operational and technical challenges OSINT practitioners have to grapple with. Given the speed of change on the web, some might question the wisdom of pulling together such a resource. What’s wrong with the Top 10 tools, or the Top 100? There are only so many resources one can bookmark after all. Such arguments are not without merit. My fear, however, is that they are also shortsighted. I offer four reasons why. To begin, a shortlist betrays the widening spectrum of OSINT practice. Whereas OSINT was once the preserve of analysts working in national security, it now embraces a growing class of professionals in fields as diverse as journalism, cybersecurity, investment research, crisis management and human rights. A limited toolkit can never satisfy all of these constituencies. Second, a good OSINT practitioner is someone who is comfortable working with different tools, sources and collection strategies. The temptation toward narrow specialisation in OSINT is one that has to be resisted. Why? Because no research task is ever as tidy as the customer’s requirements are likely to suggest. Third, is the inevitable realisation that good tool awareness is equivalent to good source awareness. Indeed, the right tool can determine whether you harvest the right information.
