With a bit of preparation, you can gain a lot more by having informative conversations with representatives and perhaps making your mark with some of them… Have a few questions prepared in advance to help introduce yourself to employers (and smile!) Read this Fair Guide and be well informed about what employers have to offer, in terms of graduate opportunities and work experience, before you approach them. Research the employers through the careers pages of their web sites. Ask specific questions which indicate that you have done some background research. You may have limited time to make an impact so make sure you’re prepared. Give the impression of being reasonably well focused on the sort of work you want, why you would like it and why you would be good at it. Don’t restrict yourself to talking to just a few employers. A Fair is an ideal time to talk to companies you haven’t heard of before. Employers will not usually be collecting CV’s on the day, as you will be encouraged to apply through their normal channels. However, a well-prepared CV might be useful when introducing yourself. Before leaving an employer, you may find it helpful to make a note of the name of the person you spoke to. It may be useful if you wish to contact the employer at a later date. Formal dress is not required, but aim for a generally smart appearance. Aim to arrive early and give yourself plenty of time to look around and ask questions. Please visit the Careers Service Student Helpdesk if you require this publication in an alternative format. Careers Network will also be operating a CV checking service at the fair – please see a member of careers staff at the reception upon entering the Great Hall for further details Exhibitor List Allen & Overy LLP Freeths LLP Osborne Clarke Anthony Collins Solicitors Freshfields Pinsent Masons LLP Ashurst LLP Gateley LLP PwC Baker & McKenzie Government Legal Service RPC Berwin Leighton Paisner Herbert Smith Freehills Shoosmiths Bevan Brittan LLP Higgs & Sons Simmons & Simmons BLM LLP Hogan Lovells Slaughter and May BPE LLP Irwin Mitchell Squire Patton Boggs Bond Dickinson LLP K&L Gates LLP Taylor Wessing Browne Jacobson LLP King & Wood Mallesons Thomas Eggar LLP Burges Salmon LLP Latham & Watkins TLT LLP Charles Russell Speechlys Linklaters Travers Smith LLP Clifford Chance Macfarlanes Trowers & Hamlins LLP Clyde & Co LLP Michelmores LLP Watson Farley & Williams Cooley (UK) LLP Mills & Reeve White & Case LLP Dentons Morrison & Foerster LLP The Wilkes Partnership DLA Piper Norton Rose Fulbright Wragge, Lawrence DWF LLP Graham & Co Olswang LLP Eversheds LLP Employers offering opportunities for International Students: (some visa restrictions may apply, please check with the employer direct) Anthony Collins Solicitors Irwin Mitchell Ashurst K&L Gates LLP Baker & McKenzie LLP King & Wood Mallesons Berwin Leighton Paisner Latham & Watkins Bevan Brittan LLP Linklaters LLP BLM LLP Macfarlanes Bond Dickinson Michelmores LLP BPE Morrison & Foerster (UK) LLP Browne Jacobson LLP Norton Rose Fulbright LLP Burgess Salmon Olswang LLP Charles Russell Speechlys LLP Osborne Clarke Clifford Chance Pinsent Masons Clyde & Co PwC Cooley (UK) LLP Shoosmiths Dentons Simmons & Simmons DLA Piper Slaughter & May DWF LLP Squire Patton Boggs Eversheds LLP Taylor Wessing Freeths LLP Travers Smith LLP Freshfields Trowers & Hamlins Herbert Smith Freehills Watson Farley & Williams Higgs & Sons White & Case LLP Hogan Lovells Employers offering opportunities for Post Graduate students (please check with the employer) Anthony Collins Solicitors Linklaters LLP Ashurst Macfarlanes Berwin Leighton Paisner Michelmores LLP Bevan Brittan LLP Mills & Reeve BLM LLP Morrison & Foerster (UK) LLP Bond Dickinson Norton Rose Fulbright LLP BPE Olswang LLP Browne Jacobson LLP Osborne Clarke Burgess Salmon Pinsent Masons Charles Russell Speechlys LLP PwC Clifford Chance RPC Clyde & Co Shoosmiths Cooley (UK) LLP Simmons & Simmons Dentons Slaughter & May DLA Piper Squire Patton Boggs DWF LLP Taylor Wessing Eversheds LLP The Wilkes Partnership Freeths LLP TLT LLP Freshfields Trowers & Hamlins Herbert Smith Freehills Watson Farley & Williams Higgs & Sons White & Case LLP Hogal Lovells Irwin Mitchell K&L Gates LLP King & Wood Mallesons Latham & Watkins Employers offering internship opportunities: (please check with the employer) Ashurst RPC Berwin Leighton Paisner Shoosmiths Bevan Brittan LLP Simmons & Simmons BLM LLP Taylor Wessing Browne Jacobson LLP Trowers & Hamlins Burgess Salmon White & Case LLP Baker & McKenzie Charles Russell Speechlys LLP Clifford Chance Cooley (UK) LLP DLA Piper DWF LLP Eversheds LLP Freshfields Herbert Smith Freehills Hogan Lovells Irwin Mitchell K&L Gates LLP King & Wood Mallesons Macfarlanes Michelmores LLP Morrison & Foerster (UK) LLP Norton Rose Fulbright LLP Olswang LLP Osborne Clarke Pinsent Masons PwC Allen & Overy LLP Anthony Collins Solicitors Allen & Overy is a pioneering legal practice operating ACS is unlike most other law firms, and our staff are that around the world at the frontline of developing business. MUNICIPAL YEAR 201512016 REPORT NO. ACTION TO BE TAKEN UNDER Agenda Part: I KD Num: KD 4201 DELEGATED AUTHORITY - Subject OPERATIONAL DECISION OF: Novation of Contract for Legal Support Director - Regeneration Services for Lee Valley Heat Network and Environment Wards: All Contact officer and telephone number: Clare Paine, 0208 379 6467 E mail: [email protected] 1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.1 Following a tender process carried out in accordance with the Publíc Contracts Regulations 2006, the London Borough of Enfield ('the Authority') entered into a contract for the provision of legal support services for the Lee Valley Heat Network with Temple Bright LLP on 1Oth December 2014 ('the Contract'). The decision for the award of the contract was taken by the Director of Regeneration & Environment on 7 November 2014 (KD 3992). 1.2 Due to their experience and skills, the Contract identified certain key personnel (the 'Key Personnel') as crucial for the delivery of the services. However, the Key Personnel have now left Temple Bright on amicable terms to establish their own law fírm, Lux Nova Partners LLP ('Lux Nova'). 2. RECOMMENDATIONS It is recommended that the Authority approves the novation of the Contract from Temple Bright LLP to Lux Nova to ensure the continued engagement of the Key Personnel. 1 RE 15/53 - Part 1 3. BACKGROUND 3.1 The Authority entered into the Contract with Temple Bright LLP following a 'Part B' procurement carried out in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2006. The Authority did not need to publish an OJEU Call for Competition Notice for Expressions of lnterest, and simply placed an advertisement on the London Tenders Portal seeking expressions of interest from legal firms.

TRANSNATIONAL LAW PRACTICE Richard L. Abelt T RANSNATIONAL law practice has grown dramatically in recent years, but scholarship has not kept pace. This Article fills the void in three different, yet related, ways. The first section seeks to explain the patterns of transnational law practice that have emerged in recent decades. The second describes the constraints on transnational practice, especially those imposed by national and supranational regulation. I conclude with proposals about how lawyers, professional organizations, and governments should regulate transnational law practice. Since there is no comprehensive account of the growth of transnational law practice, I have appended one, drawn from a wide variety of sources, including Martindale-Hubbell, the International Financial Law Review, and Business Lawyer,' as well as a dozen interviews with lawyers in t Professor, U.C.L.A.
