Today we live in a digital world and it is the digital world that has been a revolutionary force over the last 10-20 years, a force that will change the way we will deliver education. Yes, we will still have to be able to read, write and add up – these are all very important skills, but another layer has been added to learning. At St Joseph’s RC High School we have made the decision to take digital technology head on and not ban it. We feel that we should put it in the hands of our students and work with them in a collaborative way so that the brave new technological world underpins learning rather disrupts it. In helping us to engage with this new technology and ensure that it’s all about the learning and not the technology, we have begun to pilot the use of digital devices in a number of classes across key stages. And although it is early days, we are really pleased with the way iPads are being used to Serving God Through enhance learning. We will keep you updated with how we are piloting the Learning Together use of iPads to enhance learning in future editions of Insight.

The world of sport is no different from the world of technology or commerce where the rate of change is increasing all the time. Governing bodies, social enterprises, charities must not only have the appetite for change but must also implement these changes and adaptations or they will struggle to exist. At the same time, there is an increasing focus on how sport and physical activity can help change people's lives and create sport for social good, which is probably all well and good, but While budgets are frequently threatened, these changes will probably also raise opportunities and challenges for providers when it comes to attracting funding. Opportunities in terms of the possibility of engaging with non-sport funders from health, justice/crime prevention, education and social inclusion. Challenges in terms of learning how to engage with partners and funders for whom sport is just a means to an end. We are also experiencing a number of innovative enterprises who have developed sustainable business models running mass-participation events, developing community gyms, helping communities to prosper through sport and are getting inactive people active, all delivered in financially sustainable ways But, it has to be said, that far too many providers and bodies within sport and physical activity do regard income and funding as an afterthought and therefore stagger from crisis to crisis when it comes to generating income to fund their good work.

A community which develops the skills of its learners and which values all of its members equally. 1 Dr Catrin Redknap, Chair of the Governing Body Dear Parent/Guardian I’m writing to you as Chair of Ysgol Plasmawr’s Governors, at the end of another successful year for the school. I’m pleased to report that the GCSE and A Level results for 2017 were among the best in Plasmawr’s history. The performance of the school’s A Level pupils was one of the best in Cardiff, and the achievements of Year 11 pupils compares favourably with the last two years. The rest of the report contains details of many successes and achievements which testify to the fact that there’s more to a successful school than academic performance alone. I would like to thank every member of the school staff for offering a wealth of extra-curricular activities and visits which enrich the pupils’ experiences, broaden their horizons, and develop further life-skills within a Welsh context. Leading a school at this time of accountability and financial cutbacks is quite a challenge, and the changes to the academic curriculum require strong and strategic leadership.     Welsh Assembly Government Iaith Pawb and Welsh Language Scheme Annual Report 2009-10 F1741011 © Crown Copyright July 2010 Foreword I am pleased to present the seventh Iaith Pawb and Welsh Language Scheme Annual Report highlighting the achievements by the Welsh Assembly Government and our partners during 2009/10 towards our goal of creating a truly bilingual Wales. As the numerous examples in this report demonstrate, the Welsh language is and will remain a core element of most if not all of our public facing services, strategies and policy development activities. The key achievements this year have been to meet our One Wales objective of a Legislative Competence Order for the Welsh Language, the introduction of the proposed Welsh Language Measure and the continued development of a new Welsh language strategy which will replace Iaith Pawb. We are now proceeding with our proposed Measure that will confirm the official status of the Welsh language; create linguistic rights in the provision of services and establish the post of Welsh Language Commissioner. Other key One Wales commitments have also been delivered, with correspondence to the European Commission in Welsh now being formally permitted for the first time. Education remains at the heart of our Welsh language policies and this Spring, we published our Welsh Medium Education Strategy. Golwg360; a daily Welsh Language web based news service was launched in May 2009 (http://www.golwg360.com), and its readership has grown steadily. Within the Welsh Assembly Government, work has taken place on a bilingual improvement action plan, along with preparatory work to review the Welsh Language Scheme.
