CALL TO ORDER AND WARDEN’S REMARKS Council met with all members present except Councillor Mayhew electronically. Warden Burghardt-Jesson presided. Warden Burghardt-Jesson addressed Council as follows: “Welcome September! As we close down our summer activities and gear up for the routine of fall, we cannot help but ask ourselves—What will the fall routine look like? I think we are all very much in a “wait and see” mode as wait for the full return to school as well as waiting for college and university communities to start to engage. As we know, we have missed many of the traditional events that we look forward to participating in. This coming Sunday the VON will be holding their annual Great Community Run, Walk & Roll. Traditionally VON representatives make a presentation to Council reporting on activities and requesting support for the walk. There are many different ways to support the walk this year. One of them is in fact in person. I will be participating on Sunday. If you would like to join me, please let me know. The VON has a significant presence in our communities, please consider support this great cause. September also marks Suicide Prevention month with Thursday being World Suicide Prevention Day. There is a virtual event being hosted by the London Middlesex Suicide Prevention Council Thursday evening. I have submitted greetings and personal reflections that will be shared during the event. If you want more information on that, please let me know. I’m happy to share. As always, please remember: Stay physically distanced; Wash your hands; Stay home if you don’t feel well & MASK UP—preferably wearing your Middlesex Strong Mask! See Cara for details.” Councillor Vanderheyden noted the passing of Dick Mywening, Mayor of Strathroy from 1989 to 1997. Council held a moment of silence. 2.
