The MSL Board of Governors voted to award the Cobourg Kodiaks two compensatory selections to be used following the completion of the first round in lieu of the absence of any local OLA Junior “A” affiliation, resulting in 32 overall selections instead of the established 30 selections. On behalf of the Major Series Lacrosse League and its Board of Governors, I wish a warm welcome to our 2018 MSL Entry Draft players. Major Series Lacrosse continues to be the most competitive box lacrosse league in the world, featuring many of the sport’s former, current and future top players. These 32 drafted players and 16 protected players will now have the opportunity to earn a spot in our league, and we wish them the best of luck. With the 2018 season just around the corner, we look forward to another competitive year." About Major Series Lacrosse: Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) is the Senior “A” box lacrosse league based in Ontario, Canada and sanctioned for competition by the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA). The league is comprised of six teams: Brampton, Brooklin, Cobourg, Oakville, Peterborough and Six Nations. Each year, the top four playoff teams compete for the right to face the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) champion for the Mann Cup Senior “A” Box Lacrosse Championship of Canada, which is hosted annually in alternating years between Ontario and British Columbia. In 2017, the Peterborough Lakers defeated the WLA’s New Westminster Salmonbellies in Game 6 of the Best of Seven series to capture their 17th franchise Mann Cup Championship title. .

Western Lacrosse Association The Mann Cup Mann Cup Champions (1910 - 2012 ) Mann Cup Champions The Mann Cup, originally a challenge cup, was presented by the late Sir Donald Mann, Builder of the Canadian Northern Railway, for the Senior Amateur Lacrosse Championship of Canada. The Canadian Lacrosse Association was organized and uniform rules were adopted for all competing teams in September 1925. The Mann Cup was turned over to the New Westminster Club, which held the solid gold trophy at the time. PEARSON AWARD RECIPIENT TORONTO, ON – Lacrosse Canada has announced that Dean McLeod will be presented with the 2021 Lester B. Pearson Award. The Pearson Award is presented annually to members of the Canadian lacrosse community in recognition of their unselfish dedication and outstanding contributions of sportsmanship and distinguished leadership to the game of lacrosse and to the physical and mental development of young Canadians. McLeod’s devotion, work ethic, focus and sustained commitment to the Ontario Junior “A” Lacrosse League, and to lacrosse in his hometown of Brampton, have been exemplary. Born in Brampton, Ontario in 1945, Dean has been involved in lacrosse at virtually every position possible. However, in 1982, he took on the role for which he is most commonly identified when he became Commissioner of the Ontario Lacrosse Association Junior “A” League; a position he held for over three and a half decades. At the end of the 2018 Ontario Lacrosse season, he officially announced his retirement as commissioner, ending a 37-year continuous years of service to the league. When asked for his initial response to hearing that he was named the Pearson Award recipient, Mr. McLeod stated, “When Terry Rowland (Lacrosse Canada Director of Marketing) telephoned me and told me I had been selected the 2021 recipient of the Lester B. Pearson Award, and along with it comes Life Membership through Lacrosse Canada, I was completely dumbfounded! What an unsuspected honour to have my name now sit alongside all of the great past winners of this award.
