He thanked the veterans for their ser- vice, commitment, and fortitude. “We all know and are grateful of the contribution they made to improve the lives of others,” said Sharon McKeown, vice-president of the Legion’s provincial command. Other speakers also conveyed their message of thanks, including Tamin Sadiquin, founding member and past president of the Canadian Afghan Coun- cil. “Afghan people were deprived from their basic rights: go to school, listen to music, or even go on the Internet,” Mr. Sadiquin said.
