Mann Cup Statistics Western Lacrosse Association The Mann Cup Mann Cup Champions (1910 - 2012 ) Mann Cup Champions The Mann Cup, originally a challenge cup, was presented by the late Sir Donald Mann, Builder of the Canadian Northern Railway, for the Senior Amateur Lacrosse Championship of Canada. The Canadian Lacrosse Association was organized and uniform rules were adopted for all competing teams in September 1925. The Mann Cup was turned over to the New Westminster Club, which held the solid gold trophy at the time. The Mann Cup was then placed into an annual competition with the series alternating east and west. 1910 Young Torontos, Ont 1956 Nanaimo, BC 2002 Brampton, Ont 1911 VAC Vancouver, BC 1957 Victoria, BC 2003 Victoria, BC 1912 VAC Vancouver, BC 1958 New Westminster, BC 2004 Peterborough, Ont 1913 VAC Vancouver, BC 1959 New Westminster, BC 2005 Victoria, BC 1914 VAC Vancouver, BC 1960 Port Credit, Ont 2006 Peterborough, Ont 1915 New Westminster, BC 1961 Vancouver, BC 2007 Peterborough, Ont 1916 New Westminster, BC 1962 New Westminster, BC 2008 Brampton, Ont 1917 New Westminster, BC 1963 Vancouver, BC 2009 Brampton, Ont 1918 Vancouver Coughlans, BC 1964 Vancouver, BC 2010 Peterborough, Ont 1919 Victoria Foundations, BC 1965 New Westminster, BC 2011 Brampton, Ont 1920 New Westminster, BC 1966 Peterborough, Ont 2012 Peterborough, Ont 1921 New Westminster, BC 1967 Vancouver, BC 1922 New Westminster, BC 1968 Brooklin, Ont 1923 New Westminster, BC 1969 Brooklin, Ont 1924 New Westminster, BC 1970 New Westminster, BC 1925 New Westminster, BC 1971 Brantford, Ont 1926 Weston, Ont 1972 New Westminster, BC 1927 New Westminster, BC 1973 Peterborough, Ont 1928 Ottawa Emmets, Ont 1974 New Westminster, BC 1929 Oshawa, Ont 1975 Vancouver, BC 1930 Brampton, Ont 1976 New Westminster, BC 1931 Brampton, Ont 1977 Vancouver, BC 1932 Mimico, Ont 1978 Peterborough, Ont 1933 Hamilton, Ont 1979 Victoria, BC 1934 Orillia, Ont 1980 Brampton, Ont 1935 Orillia, Ont 1981 New Westminster, BC 1936 Orillia, Ont 1982 Peterborough, Ont 1937 New Westminster Salmonbellies 1983 Victoria, BC 1938 St. Catharines, Ont 1984 Peterborough, Ont 1939 New Westminster Adanacs 1985 Brooklin, Ont 1940 St. Catharines, Ont 1986 New Westminster, BC 1941 St. Catharines, Ont 1987 Brooklin, Ont 1942 Mimico-Brampton, Ont 1988 Brooklin, Ont 1943 New Westminster Salmonbellies 1989 New Westminster, BC 1944 St. Catharines, Ont 1990 Brooklin, Ont 1945 Vancouver Burrards, BC 1991 New Westminster, BC 1946 St. Catharines, Ont 1992 Brampton, Ont 1947 New Westminster Adanacs 1993 Brampton, Ont 1948 Hamilton Tigers, Ont 1994 Six Nations, Ont 1949 Vancouver Burrards, BC 1995 Six Nations, Ont 1950 Owen Sound, Ont 1996 Six Nations, Ont 1951 Peterborough, Ont 1997 Victoria, BC 1952 Peterborough, Ont 1998 Brampton, Ont 1953 Peterborough, Ont 1999 Victoria, BC 1954 Peterborough, Ont 2000 Brooklin, Ont. 1955 Victoria, BC 2001 Coquitlam, BC Mann Cup Series & Result Year Winner Loser Result 1932 MIMICO, ONT WINNIPEG, MAN 2-0 1933 HAMILTON, ONT N.W. HOMETOWN HEROES IN FRONT OF THEIR DEVOTED FANS, THE PETERBOROUGH LAKERS WON THE 2010 MANN CUP IN A HARD-FOUGHT BATTLE AGAINST THE NEW WESTMINSTER SALMONBELLIES // By Mike Davies | Photos: Tim Prothero - www.vintagelax.com he 2010 Mann Cup will live on in the T memory of lacrosse fans, particu- larly those in Peterborough, for several special reasons. After a two-year absence, the Peterborough Lakers reclaimed the Mann Cup, their 13th, with a hard-fought six-game victory over the only team in Canada with more championships the New Westminster Salmonbellies (24). On the floor, the Lakers assaulted the record books with Shawn Evans following up his Ontario Lacrosse Association Major Se- ries Lacrosse (MSL) scoring title with a tour- nament for the ages. Evans recorded 37 points in six games, tying the Mann Cup record for most points in a series set in 2002 in seven games by Brampton Excelsiors’ star Josh Sanderson. Evans also smashed Sanderson’s assist record for a series of 26, also set in 2002, with 32. “Words can’t express how I feel,” Evans said, following the victory. “To come in here and cel- ebrate with my teammates after a big war on the floor is a great accomplishment. To get an- other ring with these guys is awesome.” Not to be outdone by his little brother, Scott Evans returned from a three-game sus- pension to earn most valuable player of the game honours in both Games 5 and 6. In fact, he had six goals and two assists in the decid- ing game.

  • Jen Adams – Australian Lacrosse Champion
JEN ADAMS – AUSTRALIAN LACROSSE CHAMPION Jen Adams started playing lacrosse in 1988, as an 8 year old, after participating in a sof-crosse school competition at Dover Gardens Primary School in Adelaide conducted by the Brighton Lacrosse Club, which at that time did not have a girls’ junior side. So Jen and her sister Trish, and a bunch of friends, got together and Brighton entered a team the following year in Under 12’s. Jen started playing senior women’s lacrosse at Brighton in 1991 at age 11, represented S.A. in the U16 S.A. Associates team in 1991 and then South Australia U16 & U21 teams from 1993, and was selected in the South Australian senior team from 1996 – 1997. In the lead up to the 1995 U19 World Championships in Haverford, Pennsylvania the Australian team played a few scrimmages against club teams in Maryland, where Gary Gait and Cindy Timchal (Coaches at University of Maryland) (UMD) had the chance to see her play. Sarah Forbes and Sascha Newmarch were both playing for Maryland at the time so the coaches already had a good idea of who were the up and coming champions in Australian women’s lacrosse. After the World Championships Gary Gait reached out expressing an interest in Jen’s playing career and continued to follow her career. In 1997, Brett Cope took a Brighton Lacrosse Club women’s team to the USA for a series of matches and it was on this tour that Jen, then aged 17, was able to meet up again with Gary Gait and Cindy Timchal for an interview, from where she was recruited on a lacrosse scholarship to UMD.
