Roman Simovic violin Roman Simovic's brilliant virtuosity and seemingly-inborn musicality, fueled by a limitless imagination, has taken him throughout all continents performing on many of world's leading stages including the Carnegie Hall, Bolshoi Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Mariinsky Hall in St. Petersburg, Grand Opera House in Tel-Aviv, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Rudolfinum Hall in Prague, Barbican Hall in London, Art Centre in Seoul, Grieg Hall in Bergen, Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow, to name a few. As soloist, Roman has appeared with the world leading orchestras: London Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Teatro Regio Torino, Symphony Nova Scotia (Canada), Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra (Hungary), Camerata Bern (Switzerland), Camerata Salzburg (Austria), CRR Chamber Orchestra (Turkey), Poznan Philharmonia, Prague Philharmonia, North Brabant (Holland)...with conductors like: Valery Gergiev, Antonio Pappano, Daniel Harding, Gianandrea Noseda, Kristian Jarvi, Jiri Belohlavek, Pablo Heras Casado, Nikolai Znaider. Yaron Gottfried - Biography
Yaron Gottfried - Biography - Conductor, composer and pianist Yaron Gottfried is one of the most prominent musicians of his generation in Israel, a multidisciplinary musician, who bridges classical, contemporary and jazz music. Gottfried held the position of music director and principal conductor of the Netanya-Kib- butz Orchestra between 2002 and 2013. Under his creative artistic leadership, the orchestra has become one of Israel‘s leading professional orchestras, presenting fresh revolutionary programs, packed halls, rave reviews and over 120 concerts in a season. Gottfried studied composition with Noam Sheriff and graduated from the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem under Maestro Mendi Rodan. In July 2013 he was appointed head of the new composition and conducting department at Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. Gottfried is regularly invited to conduct and perform his works with major orchestras including Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, Haifa Symphony, Jeru- salem Symphony, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva, China Philharmonic Orchestra, Beijing Symphony, Neues Kammerorchester Potsdam, Portland Chamber Orchestra, Thüringer Symphoniker, Budapest Concert Orchestra, Duna Symphony, Kodaly Philharmonic and Vancouver Symphony among many others. Since September 2013 he has been music director of two new contemporary concert series at Tel Aviv Museum of Art and Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. Gottfried’s unique approach to rhythm and sound is deeply reflected in his compositions, which bring together a fusion between genres and styles. Among his works are concertos, orchestral works, vocal works and orchestral arrangements. His jazz arrangements of works by Warlock, Bach and Mozart written for jazz trio and orchestra have been performed over 50 times receiving ex- cellent reviews all over the world with many orchestras. -

2019 LAUENEN CHAMBER CONCERTS Saturday March 2nd, 2019 6.15 pm Dear Friends Welcome to the 17th edition of the Lauenen concerts ! It is a great joy to welcome so many of you. We have decided a couple of years ago to orient this concert and party decidedly towards our next generation, and we love the buzz they bring with them ! We are so grateful to our dear friend Joji (who has become a proud father of a son, Leonard Makoto) for the beautiful chamber music band lyrical programme he has concocted: we have the privilege to hear Olga Peretyatko, one of today’s very best soprano voices and we are absolutely delighted to have her sing for us. Joji has assembled a group of wonderful friends that have major international careers and we’re happy to welcome again Alexej Stadler whom you have heard the past 2 years in Lauenen as well as « first time Lauener» Sarah McElravy, Josef Spacek & Itamar Golan. I should add that 3 of them have been in the past jury members of the Menuhin Competition, the world’s Olympic Games for the world’s best young violinists with whom we are associated. I’d like to thank from the bottom of my heart my family, and my darling wife Andrienne in particular with Leopold and Isabel, for the enthusiasm, love and friendship in managing this project so consistently in the past 16 years. The sheer size of it requires of course generosity beyond compare (and a particular thank you to Henri and Daïné) but also a good dose of humour and more than a pinch of energy. -

Acclaimed Israeli-American Pianist Daniel Gortler in Recital at the Jewish Museum May 24 Theme and Variations Features Works by Corigliano, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, and Schumann New York, NY, April 23, 2018 – The Jewish Museum will present Israeli-American pianist Daniel Gortler performing Theme and Variations, a concert honoring American composer John Corigliano’s 80th birthday, on Thursday, May 24 at 7:30pm. This is Mr. Gortler’s fourth recital at the Jewish Museum. The concert program, which explores the idea of “variations on a theme,” features Corigliano’s Fantasia on an Ostinato together with Mendelssohn’s Variations sérieuses, Op. 54, Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 30 in E major, Op. 109, and Schumann’s epic Symphonic Etudes, Op.13 along with the five posthumous variations. Piano Lab Lecture Series "Our Brain as Pianist": How our knowledge of the human brain can affect our approach to piano playing and pedagogy. Eitan Globerson Professional pianist and conductor; PhD in neurosciences Visiting professor at the Schulich School of Music, McGill University Piano playing is considered one of the most complex actions accomplished by the human brain. The pianist employs simultaneously hundreds of muscles working together to achieve an optimal musical goal. Piano performance demands a profound musical knowledge, excellent motor skills, and complex emotional insights. The lecture will present a novel approach, demonstrating how the knowledge we possess about the human brain can promote our approach to music performance, as well as other highly complex human activities. The cognitive and motor processes involved in piano playing will be discussed in detail, incorporating live musical examples. The topics covered in the presentation will include: Time scales in brain activity and piano playing. Motor skill learning in piano playing- how can we make it more efficient? Bimanual coordination- brain correlates and practical insights. Attention and eye movement in piano playing. Brain hierarchies in piano playing (or: what should we think about while playing?
