HORIZONS SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES Horizons holiday activities operate within CGS Care as optional extra giving opportunities in a range of learning areas, which enhance a students’ cultural, creative, physical or technological intelligence. Through their participation, students discover hidden talents and build skills for life. Children arriving before the start time of the activity need to be dropped off (7:30am – 9:00am) at the Year 2 classrooms (Southside building), and will then be accompanied by CGS Care educators to the area where the program will run. At the completion of each program the children will be accompanied to the main CGS Care space where they will remain until collected by a parent or guardian. Childcare benefit and rebate is claimable for all bookings of primary children.

Kids in the kitchen 16 & 17 April | Kindergarten – Year 6 Kids in the Kitchen offers a hand on cooking experience for children in Kindergarten to Year 6. Our young chefs will improve their skills in the kitchen while preparing their own meals in an encouraging and fun atmosphere. All children are welcome to enjoy their meals together with their peers or take it home later. The sessions will run from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Cost: $130 per day.

Chess 16 – 18 April | Kindergarten – Year 6 Professional Chess Lessons suitable for all chess abilities. Your child will participate in demonstration lessons and then use their knowledge in a variety of chess competitions and activities, all while interacting with other children. The lessons are presented by David Messina and chess mates, and are designed to give all children further chess strategies to use in friendly and competitive games. There are also sporting breaks in-between lessons and competitions that help to rejuvenate children. This program prides itself on exercising both the mind and body! Chess lessons will run from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Cost: $130 per day.

Capital Sports Camps 17 – 19 April | Year 2 – Year 7 | Three-day sport-specific camps – Rugby Union, , Soccer Capital Sports Camps complement the Australian PDHPE curriculum and provide a fun and appropriately competitive environment for children to develop skills in multisport and sport-specific programs. Join expert coaches for a mixture of skill acquisition, modified games and competition across a range of sporting options these holidays. With prizes awarded each day and fun activities planned, join us for some sporting fun. Get a jump on the opposition ahead of the winter season - refine your skills and improve your game sense at Capital Sports Camps. Capital Sports Camp will run from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Cost: $130 per day. Code Cadets 18 – 20 April | Kindergarten – Year 6 Code Cadets is a program for children with a passion towards technology who like to explore the fast-moving world of electronics while creating their own personal game, website or application. Children will also have the chance to use the program at home and keep working. The sessions will run from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Cost: $130 per day.

Biology (Science) 23 & 24 April | Kindergarten – Year 2 Biology gives children an opportunity to explore the world of living organism. On the first day we are going to travel back in time to the age of the dinosaurs and learn about fossilization and extinction. On the second day we will learn about modern animals, conservation and protection. We will talk about ways to protect species and find out how so many unique animals evolved. The sessions will run 9:00am – 3:00pm. Cost: $130 per day.

Science 23 & 24 April | Year 3 – Year 6 Science combines a variety of different experiments, fun and excitement. We aim to create a link between the science concept and our everyday life to develop an understanding of the why and how. The sessions will run 9:00am – 3:00pm. Cost: $130 per day.

Hip Hop 23 & 24 April | Kindergarten – Year 6 Dance provides a fantastic creative outlet for everyone, none more so then children. In a dance class your child will learn some core techniques and understanding of body awareness, musicality and memory, but most importantly FUN! There’s more to a dance class than jumping up and down to a beat. Dancers all around the world enjoy dance for the actual real life benefits receive out of the dance studio. Dance helps build confidence, rhythm and coordination, all to a fun song. Very similar to martial arts and other sports, dance helps nourish the ideas of team work, cooperation and perverseness when things can get a little stressful. Take a break this holiday, prepare for your own dance concert in the lounge and welcome home your new dance superstar! The sessions will run from 9:00am – 3:00pm. Cost: $130 per day.

Tennis 26 & 27 April | Kindergarten – Year 6 coaching improve your skills, have fun, meet new friends and learn a game you will keep for life. Delivered by fully qualified Tennis instructors and aimed at developing and improving fundamental tennis skills to take your game to the next level. Specialist coaching over 2 days with a variety of options, that accommodate age and skill level. The sessions will run 9:00am – 3:00pm. Cost: $130 per day.

Jewellery Making 26 & 27 April | Kindergarten – Year 6 Jewellery Making is your chance to design and create your very own pieces of Jewellery.
