Adhika Masa Nimitta SRI PURUSHOTTAMA SAMARADHANA || Shreesha: Sharanam || Hari Sarvottama: Vayu Jeevottama: Adhika Masa Nimitta SRI PURUSHOTTAMA SAMARADHANA Date: 7th , 8 th & 9 th September 2012 (Fri, Sat & Sunday), Time: 7.30 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. Venue: Dharmaprakash , No.10, Raja Annamalai Road, Purasawalkam, Chennai -84 Sri Purushottama Seva Samiti, Address:- Gopalacharya Vidyapeetha, No.30/15, Raja Hanumanta Street, Triplicane, Chennai - 600005. || Shreesha: Sharanam || Adhika Masa Nimitta SRI PURUSHOTTAMA SAMARADHANA Inauguration at 8 a.m. on 7th Sep’ 2012 by SHRI 1008 SHRI VISHVESHA TIRTHA SWAMIJI, Senior Pontiff of Sri Pejavara Matha, Udupi By the benign grace of Lord Sri Hari, Sri Vayudeva and all Devatas & with the divine blessings of the great Swamijis - Sri Jaya Tirtha, Sri Sripadaraja, Sri Vyasaraja, Sri Vadiraja, Sri Raghuttama, Sri Raghavendra, Sri Satya Gnana, Sri Satyadhyana, Sri Satyapramoda and the present pontiff of Sri Uttaradi Math Sri Satyatma Tirtha Swamiji , and our Vidya guru Sri Mahuli Gopalacharya - the founder of Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha, Mumbai-, we endeavour to carry out several satkarmas (noble deeds) on account of the holy Adhika Masa. These Karyakramas are being held under the gracious presidentship of Pujya Sri Pt. Vidyasimhacharya Mahuli , the present Kulapati of Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha, Mumbai. He provides free food, lodging to over 200 students and teaches them everyday. He has shaped the personality and character of hundreds of Pundits. He has been the Preraka behind every good deed, the source of knowledge and inspiration of all religious acts. He graces the ocassion with his special discourse. Satkarmas performed in Adhika Masa bring infinite punya, benefits and pleases Masa Niyamaka Lord Sri Purushottama immensely. Hence it has been proposed to perform Pravachana, Parayana, Homa, Laksha Deepotsava, Laksha Archana, Bhajana, Brahmana Pooja etc. for the welfare of one and all. Sampoorna 'Srimad Bhagavata' Pravachana: A Special Discourse is being organised for 3 Days in which several scholars cover entire 'Srimad Bhagavata'. Pravachanas on several 'Dasara Kritis', to highlight their meaning, are also being held. 33 'Bruhati Sahasra Homa's: The Bruhati Sahasra Mantras -the 1000 Mantras composed in 'Bruhati' Chandas ( a metre comprising 36 syllables)- are very dear to Lord Sri Hari. The 72,000 forms of the Lord extolled in these Mantras are also present in our body (36,000 masculine forms of the Lord in the right side 'Nadi's and 36,000 feminine forms of the Lord in the left side 'Nadi's) and they control the days and nights of our 100 years of living. Performing Homa by chanting these Bruhati Sahasra Mantras brings great punya. Thus in the Adhika Masa, 33 "Bruhati Sahasra Homas" are being performed. 33 'Pavamana Homa's: Lord Sri Hari and Sri Vayudeva are referred to as "Pavamana" - because they remove our sins, eliminate our worldly distresses, provide us punya as well as gnana, and take us to Moksha. Pavamana sukta itself is the Neerajana - the Mangala Aarathi to Lord Sri Hari. Performing Homa by chanting this Pavamana Sukta is even more beneficial: it removes all sins accumulated in one year and makes one to be born as a learned Brahmana for the next seven births. 33 Other Homas: Worship of Devatas is also essential. For every activity of our lives, our body, its organs and senses like eyes, ears, hands etc are very crucial. Devatas are the controllers for these senses and limbs as well as for the air, water, food grains, light etc. that are absolutely essential for our very existence. Thus one has to offer worship in many ways to the Devatas who extend their grace and assistance to us in so many different ways. Espescially during Adhika Masa Homa, Japa are to be performed to please these Devatas. Hence we are performing these Homas for Navagraha and other deities. 'Veda, Sarva Moola, Sudha' Parayana: The Apaurusheya (authorless) Vedas are Stotras of Lord Sri Hari. The Supreme qualities of the Lord are praised and proclaimed to us by the Vedas. It is to reveal the real meaning of these Vedas that Brahma Sutras, Mahabharata, Bhagavata etc. have been composed. To make us easily understand the meaning of these, Sriman Madhvacharya has composed the Sarva Moola Granthas. Sarva Moola Granthas give us the 'true knowledge about the Supreme Being' (i.e. Bhagavat Tattva Gnana), by narrating to us His great qualities. The inner meaning and grandeur of Sarva Moola Granthas are brilliantly illuminated by Sri Jayatirtha in his treatises. Sriman Nyayasudha is regarded as the greatest of his treatises. Thus, to extol Sri Hari and for gaining Tatva Gnana as well as all- round prosperity, the Parayana of Veda, Sarva Moola Grantha & Sriman Nyaya Sudha is being performed. Bhajana : 'Dasarapada's are Stotras composed by our great Sages and Sants in the Prakruta Bhasha (or regional language) - just like the Stotras in Sanskrit. Thus offering praise by reciting the words of the divine composers that reveal the glories of Sri Hari and Gurugalu, undoubtedly bestows great punya. Hence Bhajana by 33 Bhajana Mandalis. Brahmana Pooja: Lord Sri Hari is to be worshipped in various Adhistanas (abodes) like Saligrama, Agni, Surya, Water, idol etc. Worshipping Him in living beings is considered better. That too, worshipping Him in human beings, Brahmanas, Pandits are considered increasingly superior. Contemplating the the 72,000 forms of the Lord (which are present in a Brahmana and extolled in the Bruhati Sahasra Mantras) while performing Brahmana Pooja is considered very special and rewarding. Hence in Adhika Masa, Pooja to Lord Sri Hari in learned Brahmanas. Laksha Archana & Laksha Deepotsava : Performing Archana to Lord Sri Hari provides one with plenty of food and bestows honours as well. One who Lights a lamp in front of Lord surely begets Gnana, and good children. In this Adhika Masa, Laksha Pushpa Archana as well as Deepotsava by lighting one Lakh Deepas are being performed. DAILY PROGRAMME SCHEDULE: Homa Sankalpa 7.30 a.m. Laksha Archana 7.30 a.m. to 8.00 a.m. 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. & Pravachana 10.15 a.m. to 12 Noon Poornahuti & Teertha Prasada 12 Noon Bhajana 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pravachana - 4 p.m to 5 p.m. 'Dasara Kritigala Artha' Pravachana 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Deepotsava 7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bhojana 8.oo p.m. Adhika Masa Nimitta SRI PURUSHOTTAMA SAMARADHANA Adhyaksharu: “Sudha Visharadha, Shastra Ratnakara, Vidya Chakravarti,” “Vidyamanya Prashasti”, “Dhyana Pramoda Prashasti”, “Kalidasa Prashasti” Bhajana Present Kulapati of Satyadhyana Vidyapeetha, Mumbai Pt. • Is the Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya Connected to the Madhva Line?
Is the Gaudiya Vaishnava sampradaya connected to the Madhva line? Is the Gaudiya Vaishnava sampradaya connected to the Madhva line? – Jagadananda Das – The relationship of the Madhva-sampradaya to the Gaudiya Vaishnavas is one that has been sensitive for more than 200 years. Not only did it rear its head in the time of Baladeva Vidyabhushan, when the legitimacy of the Gaudiyas was challenged in Jaipur, but repeatedly since then. Bhaktivinoda Thakur wrote in his 1892 work Mahaprabhura siksha that those who reject this connection are “the greatest enemies of Sri Krishna Chaitanya’s family of followers.” In subsequent years, nearly every scholar of Bengal Vaishnavism has cast his doubts on this connection including S. K. De, Surendranath Dasgupta, Sundarananda Vidyavinoda, Friedhelm Hardy and others. The degree to which these various authors reject this connection is different. According to Gaudiya tradition, Madhavendra Puri appeared in the 14th century. He was a guru of the Brahma or Madhva-sampradaya, one of the four (Brahma, Sri, Rudra and Sanaka) legitimate Vaishnava lineages of the Kali Yuga. Madhavendra’s disciple Isvara Puri took Sri Krishna Chaitanya as his disciple. The followers of Sri Chaitanya are thus members of the Madhva line. The authoritative sources for this identification with the Madhva lineage are principally four: Kavi Karnapura’s Gaura-ganoddesa-dipika (1576), the writings of Gopala Guru Goswami from around the same time, Baladeva’s Prameya-ratnavali from the late 18th century, and anothe late 18th century work, Narahari’s

  • Presents Sri Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhouma Darshanam
WWW.GURURAGHAVENDRA.ORG Presents Sri Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhouma Darshanam By Balaji. Raghavendran ([email protected]) HARE SREENIVASA! HARI SARVOTHAMA!! VAYOO JEVOTHAMA!! Sri Sri Hayagreevaya Namaha !!! SRI MOOLA RAMO VIJAYATHE !!! Sri Hanuma Bheema Madhwa Sri Vadirajaaya Namaha !!! Sri Raghavendra Namaha !!! Sri Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhouma Darshanam I would like to present a brief biography of Sri Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhoma titled "Sri Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhouma Darshanam". Many great devotees have written / penned about Dwaita philosophy and Sri Sri Raghavendra Yathi Sarvabhouma. I thought of introducing Sri Sri Vadiraja through this website and hope and pray Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhouma would help me complete my mission. I readily accept that I am an unknown entity and my knowledge is limited and a student in the process of learning. If I knowingly or unknowingly make any mistake please forgive me and correct my mistakes... :Introduction: Sri Vadiraja Tirtha was a contemporary of Sri SriPadaraja thirtha and Sri Vyaasa Tirtha (Previous Incarnation of Sri Raghavendra Swamy) and also his disciple. He is considered to be one of the pillars of Dasa movement. He was a great leader and guiding spirit of both the Vyasakuta and Dasakuta. Sri SriPadaraja, Sri Vyaasaraja and Sri Vadiraja are together called as 'Yathi Trayaru', the three great saints in Dasa movement. a. Sri Padaraja is the beginner and considered the grandfather of Dasa's, b. Sri Vadiraja promoter of dasa sahitya. c. Sri Vyaasaraja has made dasa movement more popular by leading a set of esteemed disciples. A point worth noting here is that all these three stalwarts of Dwaitha Philosophy were staunch followers of Sri Madwacharya and believed that HIS philosophy and Hari Bhakti was not limited to only Brahmins but to the society as a whole.

  • Kakolu: a Place of Rustic Serenity
Kakolu: a place of rustic serenity The metropolitan city of Bangalore is not just a hub of IT and Business czars. Driving through the traffic lanes with irksome stales of traffic jams may not find a relief at the heart of the city. However, one is sure to find a sigh of relief at the outer regions of the famed city. Driving ahead in Bangalore north, one cannot afford to miss the rustic prospect of kakolu, a village near the proximity on the main road rather less known to the localities of the Bangalore city. Though bestowed with a gait of spirituality and scenic beauty, the place is not well off the major roadway. As we move ahead the Yelahanka-Doddaballapur Road across 35 KM, the main road is intercepted by the place of Rajankunte with a rustle of a market place on the main road. A very familiar deviation from here of about 5 kms across a fairly good road would take us to Kakolu village. The village abounds with a touch of antiquity together with a feel of calmness and spiritual touch for a must visit for those seeking a solace. The history of the place dates back to the times of the famed Vijayanagara Empire reminding us of unique idols and significant symbology of the Hindu pantheon of gods and goddesses. Regional legend of the Kakolu ascribes the place as being ruled by a subordinate ruler of the Vijayanagara Empire originally belonging to “Chelooru Chavadi” which is now submerged in the Hesaraghatta lake. There is an inscription on the walls of Sri Chandramouleshwara temple at Hesaragatta referring this.
