Having moved with his family from a terraced house in north to a rambling grange in rural Herefordshire, their first 12 months were duly detailed in the wildly successful book Tales of the Country. Pentabus Theatre’s new show takes on the story of the Viner family bedding into their new life deep in the Herefordshire countryside. Full of hilarious incidents and wonderful characters, Tales of the Country is a beguiling chronicle of the pleasures and pitfalls that await a family from the city chasing a rural idyll. Sat 8 May 8pm £10/£8 students TRANSATLANTIC COLLECTION For one night only, Kentucky Fryd, The Roving Crows and Cowley Cowboys join forces to present a transatlantic musical extravaganza. Members from America, Ireland, France and the UK play original and traditional music blending Bluegrass, Folk, Country, Irish and Americana; featuring banjo, fiddle, guitars, banjolele, bass, drums, percussion, harmonica. Experience a musical and lyrical journey with fun and foot tapping guaranteed.

Sat 15 May 8pm £12 GORDON GILTRAP One of the most innovative acoustic guitarists in the UK today, Gordon Giltrap has developed his own unique style, much copied, but never bettered. It is impossible not to be awestruck as he coaxes incredible melodies from his instruments; you almost suspect a second pair of hands! With over 40 years in the business, Gordon will satisfy fans with his most well loved hits, as well as explaining the history of his many different guitars. Be prepared for beautiful compositions that cross all musical genres, wit, charm and unbelievable talent. “Gordon Giltrap is one of an elite few who truly have become legendary in their field in their own lifetime. Theatre Ticket Line: 01531 636147 Sat 29 May 8pm £10 Hijinx Theatre Company from South Wales INTO MY OWN by Glenis Evans Anne and Mum live together, and they look after each other. They are settled in their routines and comfortable with their lives. Anne dances while Mum keep her safe and makes toast, but Mum is getting older and less able to cope. When Mum is suddenly rushed into hospital, their cosy world is turned upside down and there is no plan for Anne's care. Her brother Ken lives miles away and has a family of his own, a demanding job and no space for Anne, but his friend Terry knows what to do. Terry is a social worker who introduces Anne to Dilys (Sara Pickard – Miss Brown to You) who is an inspiration ~ a free spirit who loves her independent life. Dilys is full of movement and colour. Can Dilys help Anne embrace a new and exciting life, doing things she would never have dreamed of before? Into My Own is a story for everyone, about families and friendships, stepping into the unknown but has particular relevance to people within the learning disabled community.

As Malmesbury Abbey prepares anxiously for a royal visit, Brother Eilmer keeps nipping up the bell-tower with a book about Daedalus and some food for the jackdaws. Meanwhile, bored with plundering the same old towns along the Bristol Channel, the Vikings have decided to take a trip further inland. As the villagers meet the pillagers, the followers of Odin find the church-bell appealing, and Ethelred tries not to swap his kingdom for a Norse. But where on earth is Eilmer? Their luck changes when Linda finds tickets to Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot in York. Out go the hairnets and overalls as the girls do themselves up and head for the races. As the day unfolds, the champagne flows, secrets spill out and their horses keep winning. By the last race, the girls are on course for a life-changing win.

Leading slamprearios Marcus Moore and Sarah Jane Arbury compère thee to a slammers’ way as random judges rate the quality of writing, the strength of performance and the warmth of the applaudience. Who will fly into the final or feel too poet-rified to continue? There are points at stake so make it a date and let the good rhymes roll!

Lewis' classic, set in the land of Narnia, faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia. The intense action features chases, duels and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and to end the reign of Aslan. ● JULIE AND JULIA - Wed 12 May: 10.30am (USA/2009/12A/123 min) A woman verging on thirty and frustrated in a temp secretary job takes on a yearlong culinary quest: to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." She chronicles her trials and tribulations in a blog that catches on with the food crowd. Amy Adams plays Julie, and Meryl Streep plays Julia Child. Nora Ephron directs from her screen adaptation of Julie Powell's book.

● SOMERS TOWN - Friday 14 May: 8pm (UK/2008/12A/71mins) Two teenagers, both newcomers to London, forge an unlikely friendship over the course of a hot summer. Tomo is a runaway from Nottingham; Marek lives in the district of Somers Town, between King's Cross and Euston stations, where his dad is working on a new rail link. The boys are both infatuated with the same girl, and pass their days bickering over which of them loves her the most. Finding himself homeless, Tomo surreptitiously moves into Marek's bedroom - but it's only a matter of time before Marek's dad discovers what's going on... Dir: Shane Meadows.

● THE TIME TRAVELLER’S WIFE - Fri 28 May: 8pm (USA/2009/12A/107mins) Starring Rachel McAdams, Eric Bana, and Arliss Howard. Clare has been in love with Henry her entire life, she believes they are destined to be together, even though she never knows when they will be separated: Henry is a time traveller, cursed with a rare genetic anomaly that causes him to live his life on a shifting timeline, skipping back and forth through his lifespan with no control. Henry's travels force them apart with no warning, but Clare desperately tries to build a life with her one true love. Based on the best-selling novel by Audrey Niffenegger.

● CREATION - Wed 9 June: 10.30am (UK/2009/PG/108 min) What happens when a world-renowned scientist, crushed by the loss of his eldest daughter, conceives a book which will prove the non-existence of God. This is the story of Charles Darwin and his master-work "The Origin of Species". It tells of a global revolution played out the confines of a small English village; a passionate marriage torn apart by the most dangerous idea in history; and a theory saved from extinction by the logic of a child. Directed by Jon Amiel and starring Paul Bettany, Jennifer Connelly, Jeremy Northam, Toby Jones, and Benedict Cumberbatch. ● KOLYA - Friday 11 June: 8pm (Czech/1996/12/105mins/Subtitles) Directed by Jan Sverak and set in Prague at the end of the Communist era, an impoverished musician and confirmed bachelor enters into a marriage of convenience only to be left in charge of a 5yr old boy. Joyous, funny and touching: it will make you weep. This is a genuine masterpiece full of emotions, and Sverak has a fingerspitzen-gefühl that makes him a master filmmaker.

● AN EDUCATION - Wed 30 June 8pm (UK/2009/12A/100min) Jenny is a bright young girl on the cusp of her 17th birthday who finds herself in a whirlwind romance with a much older David. Prior to meeting David, Jenny was trying to excel in her life by going to a prep school to get into Oxford. Once she sees the lifestyle David can provide, one she never imagined might so easily be hers, she is hooked and thoughts of Oxford go out the window. Then, when things are looking pretty good for Jenny with the dashing (yet a little too smooth) David, the truth hits her like a ton of bricks. Jenny goes from being a bright eyed school girl to a sophisticated young lady and then all the way back to questioning if she really knows who she is at all. An Education won the Audience Choice award and the Cinematography award at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Based on the memoir "An Education” written by Lynn Barber.

● COCO BEFORE CHANEL - Wed 14 July: 10.30am (France/2009/12/110min/Subtitles) Several years after leaving the orphanage to which her father never returned for her, Gabrielle Chanel finds herself working in a provincial bar. She's both a seamstress for the performers and a singer, earning the nickname Coco from the song she sings nightly with her sister. A liaison with Baron Balsan gives her an entrée into French society and a chance to develop her gift for designing increasingly popular hats. When she falls in love with English businessman Arthur Capel further opportunities open up, though life becomes ever more complicated.

● UP - Fri 30 July: 7pm (please note early start for family audience) (USA/2009/U/101mins) Carl Fredricksen spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest, but at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8- year old Wilderness Explorer named Russell) gives him a new lease on life. "UP" takes audiences on a thrilling journey where the unlikely pair encounter wild terrain, unexpected villains and jungle creatures. The film won 2 Oscars and 40 other awards, and was the first animated film to open the Cannes Film Festival.

● NANNY McPHEE AND THE BIG BANG – Wed 11 August: 10.30am (UK France USA/2010/U/109mins) Nanny McPhee arrives to help a harried young mother who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war, though she uses her magic to teach the woman's children and their two spoiled cousins five new lessons.

The building, which opened in January 2000, is an intimate space with modern purpose-built facilities; and provides a dedicated venue for amateur and professional performing arts. It has 128 seats, foyer, bar, wheelchair access, disabled toilet and a hearing loop. The Theatre or Foyer may be hired by phoning 01531 633760 . Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society LADS was founded in 1938 and has some 250 members and friends. They put on various productions throughout the year, including a pantomime. The Theatre is staffed entirely by LADS volunteers, who work front of house as well as behind the scenes.
