Superintendent Robert Dooley, in a prelude to discussion on person- nel items, noted in his board report that staffing presents a perennial problem this time of year. He said he may ask for a special board meet- ing on hiring. Dooley singled out staff members Patti Spencer, Claudian Carpenter, and Angelina Valenzuela with praise for additional work they have put into the business office this summer. The School Improvement Grant (SIG) staff will return from summer break on July 29, he said, and teachers will be coming back to campus August 5 and 6. Dooley also noted that Jumpstart and STEM classes had started the week before, with 40 students in the former, and 12 in STEM. In personnel actions, the board voted to accept one certified and three classified resignations. Velma Taboada, hired at last month’s board meeting, decided to withdraw from employment with the district, cit- ing family reasons. The three classified resignations accepted were Joni Jaramillo, in payroll and accounts payable; Shawna Rupple, school sec- retary; and Dahlia Perez, custodian. The board okayed Charmaine Beharie for an extra-pay position as coordinator of the gifted program, and approved the hiring of Venus Celaya in accounting and accounts payable, and Nathan Garcia as a Jacob Lewis pushed off at the start of the boys’ 13-14 50-yard backstroke. -
Tilton on the Hill Settlement Profile Introduction
Tilton on the Hill Settlement Profile Introduction General Location: Tilton on the Hill (hereby referred to as Tilton), lies on the B6047 that connects Market Harborough (14 miles away) to Melton Mowbray (11 miles away). The village is in the north-east of Harborough District, sitting only 2 miles north of the A47. Tilton parish is one of the largest in the District and embraces numerous past and current settlements such as Halstead, Whatborough and Marefield. The settlement neighbours Skeffington to the south, Billesdon, Cold Newton and Lowesby to the west, Marefield and Owsten and Newbold to the north, with Loddington, Launde and Withcote lying to the east. Beyond its Harborough District neighbours, the parish is in close proximity to Melton Borough and Rutland County. The village centre is a conservation area (with the church, pub and Main Street constituting its centre) and the parish contains 5 scheduled ancient monuments. Such a rich history can be explained by Tilton’s location, at the crossroads of two ancient, pre-Roman pathways that date back to the Bronze Age. Furthermore, the village was recognised not only as ‘The Best Village in Leicestershire’ in the Calor Village of the Year Awards 2009, but also as the ‘Sustainability Village of the Year’ for the Midlands in the same year. An achievement that can be considered the fruits of ‘Tilton Green’s’ labour – a community centred on improving Tilton’s environmental record (discussed in Tilton Parish Council section). Lastly, Tilton is among one of the highest places in east Leicestershire, standing at 219 metres above sea level near the peak of the High Leicestershire area. -

Robert Thorpe (Class of 1988), Oakwood, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Keith Morris (Class of 1974), Gainesville, was elected Chairman of the Foundation. Thorpe received his A.S. degree from GC, and will complete his B.S. degree from Piedmont College this spring. He is a para-professional at the Gainesville-Hall County Alternative School. He is a former GC Foundation Trustee. Morris, as Fund Drive Chairman in 1994, led the Foundation in surpassing its record-high goal of $415 ,000. He is the Executive Director for the Georgia Mountains Regional Development Corporation. Lee Chapman (Class of 1984), Gainesville, was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Foundation. A for mer president of the Alumni Association, he is a mar keting representative with Jackson EMC. Others honored at the meeting included Elton Robert Thorpe (left) accepts the Distinguished Alumnus Collins, Commerce, who was named Honorary Life Award from Debby Lane and Wes Winkler. Trustee, and Frank Turk, Oakwood, who received the Distinguished Service Award. Collins served on the Board of Trustees for three years, in 1987-89, and has been a loyal supporter of the College and the Foundation throughout the years. He has been President of Community Bank & Trust in Commerce for 12 years. -

Rutland County Council Local Plan 2016 – 2036 Land west of Uppingham Road – Policies H1.2 / Statement of Common Ground between: Rutland County Council (RCC) and Pegasus Planning on behalf of Davidsons Developments Limited November 2020 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This ‘Statement of Common Ground’ (SoCG) has been prepared jointly by Rutland County Council (RCC) and Pegasus Planning on behalf of Davidsons Developments Limited in respect of the proposed residential allocation at Land west of Uppingham Road, Oakham (Policy H1.2 of the emerging Rutland Local Plan). Policy H1.2 and the associated allocation and propose an indicative capacity of 73 homes, 21 of which are proposed to be affordable. This capacity is based on the Rutland County Council’s formula applied to sites in Oakham and may be subject to change following site assessments and development of detailed design taking into account the site’s context and securing a high quality urban design solution. Pegasus Planning on behalf of Davidsons Developments Limited consider that Policy H1.2 should be amended to refer to an indicative capacity of 90 dwellings as master planning work demonstrates that the site is capable of accommodating a higher number of dwellings whilst delivering a high quality solution. The policy and allocation have been informed by evidence that has been collected to date, which considers the implications of growth and whether the development and supporting infrastructure is deliverable. The purpose of the Statement of Common Ground is to inform the Inspector of the Rutland Local Plan and other interested parties about the areas of agreement between Rutland County Council and the site promoter (Pegasus Planning on behalf of Davidsons Developments Limited) contained in policy H1.2 of the Rutland Local Plan (2016-2036). -
