Batute, 6 - 8 March 2020, 7:30 p.m. Program/ Repertoire: forum, readathon, performance Description:A three-day festival that puts the spotlight on stories about women by women through staged readings and featured performances of women’s plays, and a forum. With the theme “Empowerment, Diversity and Equality,” the festival also have workshops, a creators’ market, and interviews with renowned playwrights. The project also seeks to inspire women to write, visualize their own stories and energize them to believe in their own talent in writing, producing and acting. This event is the flagship project of the CCP’s Gender and Development (GAD) Committee for 2020. VIRGIN LABFEST 2020: KAPIT (Preparation Phase) THE Virgin Labfest braves a new front and adjusts to new realities as the playwrights, directors and actors take a further leap of faith to bring the annual festival of untried, untested and unstaged works on a virtual stage. In response to the COVID 19 crisis, the theater festival will have its lockdown edition, slated on June 10 to 28, 2020. Dubbed “VLF 2020 KAPIT: Lab in the Time of Covid (A Virtual Labfest Lockdown Edition),” the 16th edition will feature nine new works, three revisited works, and six staged readings.The nine main performances are: “Doggy” by Dustin Celestino, directed by Roobak Valle; “Pilot Episode” by Floyd Scott Tiogangco, directed by Giancarlo Abrahan; “Dapithapon” by Jay Crisostomo IV, directed by Sigmund Roy Pecho; “Papaano Turuan ang Babae Humawak ng Baril” by DarylPasion, directed by Erika Estacio; “BlackPink” by Tyron Casumpang, directed by Jethro Tenorio; “Multiverse” by Juliene Mendoza, directed by Fitz Edward Bitana; “Titser Kit” by Jobert Grey Landeza, directed by Adrienne Vergara; “Mayang Bubot sa Tag-araw” by Mark Norma Boquiren, directed by Mark Mirando; and, “Gin Bilog” by Luisito Nario, directed by James Harvey Estrada. Ongoing preparations, meetings and consultation are being conducted on various aspects of the production and other components of the festivals which includes: Virgin Labfest Playwrights’ Fair – playwrights share, read their works, give talks/panel discussions online. Virgin Labfest Fellowship Program CINEMALAYA FESTIVAL (Deliberation Phase) 2020 Short Films and 2021 Full-Length Films Since the start of the lockdown, the Film, Broadcast and New Media Arts Division is working on ways to gradually migrate their programs to online platforms. Actual implementation is set in August. Lucia Di Lammermoor follows the tragedy of Scottish maiden Lucia Ashton who falls in love with her family’s archenemy Edgardo and is forced by her brother Enrico to marry a nobleman named Arturo. Abelardo; 14 Febuary 2020, 8:00 p.m. Program/ Repertoire: classical Description:The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra performed under the baton of guest conductor Gerard Salonga in the PPO’s 6th season concert with soprano Andion Fernandez- Ching as the guest soloist. The program included Lucio San Pedro’s Ang Buwan sa Kabundukan,Franz Schubert’s Erlkőnig, Manuel De Falla‘s Siete Canciones Populares Españolas, Pyotr IlyichTchaikovsky’s Tatiana’s Letter Scene (Eugene Onegin), Jeffrey Ching’s, My Heart Stayed Numb (The True Story of King Kong) and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no.6, op. 74, B minor “Pathetique”. Gerard Salonga is currently the music director of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra in Manila, and is in his second season as assistant conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He has guest-conducted the HK Philharmonic, Philippine Philharmonic, Shanghai Opera House Orchestra and Chorus, Evergreen Symphony, Bangkok Symphony, Malaysian Philharmonic, Orchestra Victoria in Melbourne, and early this year made his debut with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. In December of 2016 Gerard orchestrated the Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra by National Artist Col. Antonino
