    DAN BALAN Dan Balan wurde in Chişinău, in Moldawien, geboren und ist ein rumänisch-moldawischer Sänger, Songwriter und Produzent mit Wohnsitz in New York. Vor seinem Erfolg trat er mit Rock, Pop und Gothic/Doom Metal auf. Balan spielte eine zentrale Rolle im Eurodance Musiktrio O-Zone. Er gründete die Popband 1999 und führte sie als Frontmann, der alle Kompositionen schrieb und produzierte, mit der Hitsingle Dragostea din Tei (auch bekannt als „Numa Numa Song“) in ganz Europa zum Erfolg. Mit 12 Millionen weltweit verkauften Kopien schnellte der Song auf Platz 1 in 32 Ländern und auf Platz 3 in Großbritannien, womit er in Europa und Japan zur meistverkauften Single der Jahre 2004 und 2005 wurde. Dieser Hit wurde von über 200 Künstlern weltweit in 14 verschiedenen Sprachen gecovert. Die meistverkaufte LP von O-Zone war „DiscOzone“, die in sechs Ländern auf Platz 1 kletterte und weltweit über 3,5 Millionen Exemplare verkaufte (davon eine Million allein in Japan). Dragostea din Tei wurde 2008 ebenso von T.I. und Rihanna für „Live Your Life“ gecovert und wurde ein Riesenerfolg in den USA, wo es sechs Wochen lang auf Platz 1 in den Billboard Hot 100 stand. 2004 beschloss Balan, sich wieder mehr an seine Rockwurzeln heranzuwagen. Er wählte die besten Musiker seiner Region aus und zog mit ihnen im Jahre 2005 nach Los Angeles. Obwohl Balan für seinen eigenen Kompositionsstil bekannt ist, nahm er sich zwei Jahre Zeit um seinen eigenen Sound als Solokünstler zu finden. Für die Produktion der Platte erhielt er die Unterstützung von Jack Joseph Puig, der bereits mit John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, No Doubt, den Rolling Stones und vielen anderen zusammengearbeitet hat.
