THE BOOK OF ISAIAH THE GOD OF OUR SALVATION ISAIAH CHAPTER 15:1-9, 16:1-14 MEDIA REFERENCE NUMBER WN-653 DECEMBER 16, 2015 THE TITLE OF THE MESSAGE: “Why God Must Judge The Nations” Discovering the Salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ Through The Grace of God Part 2 SUBJECT TOPICALLY REFERENCED UNDER: Jordan, Israel, Judgment, Introduction to the Text; Isaiah 15:1-9, 16:1-14 Every nation has its history. Every nation has its origins. God has established nations and according to the Bible He has predetermined their rise and fall, purposes – even their borders. But when we speak about the origin of nations we are actually talking about their cultural DNA and their form of rule, Government if you will. As an example: The Origin of the British Empire The Peak of The British Empire http://bbsimg.ngfiles.com/1/22415000/ngbbs4d4bd6a0b26e1.jpg “People adopt their god(s) and the worshippers become like the worshipped - We choose our deities, And history shows that People establish nations and that nation, in turn, Becomes like the god(s) it Worships.” Joshua 24:14-15 “Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” 1 The judgment of the nation Moab Isaiah 15:1-9 The burden (judgment) against Moab (Jordan). Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste And destroyed, Because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste And destroyed, 2 He has gone up to the temple and Dibon, To the high places to weep. Moab will wail over Nebo and over Medeba; On all their heads will be baldness, And every beard cut off. 3 In their streets they will clothe themselves with sackcloth; On the tops of their houses And in their streets Everyone will wail, weeping bitterly. 4 Heshbon and El’ealeh will cry out, Their voice shall be heard as far as Jahaz; Therefore the armed soldiers of Moab will cry out; His life will be burdensome to him. 5 “My heart will cry out for Moab; (descendant of Lot) His fugitives shall flee to Zoar, Like a three-year-old heifer. For by the Ascent of Luhith They will go up with weeping; For in the way of Horona’im They will raise up a cry of destruction, 6 For the waters of Nim’rim will be desolate, For the green grass has withered away; The grass fails, there is nothing green. 7Therefore the abundance they have gained, And what they have laid up, They will carry away to the Brook of the Willows. 8 For the cry has gone all around the borders of Moab, Its wailing to Eg’laim And its wailing to Beer El’im. 9 For the waters of Dimon will be full of blood; Because I will bring more upon Dimon, Lions upon him who escapes from Moab, And on the remnant of the land.” These are Real, Factual, Historical and Geographical Locations that Once Existed. Isaiah 15:1-9 The burden (judgment) against Moab (Jordan). This History of Moab (Moabites) = exception, Naomi A descendant of one of Lot’s sons and it is not a good start. From back in Genesis 19 from Lots daughters and their carnal act with their father. (Jeremiah 48 speaks of this judgment as well) :2 He (Moab) has gone up to the temple and Dibon, To the high places to weep. Moab will wail over Nebo and over Medeba Sensual, Pagan, Adulterous (false) Worship. National Judgment(s) will be upon all nations Revelation 19:11-15 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. What is “National Judgment?” Can a Nation Escape It’s Judgment? How Does National Judgment Affect God’s People? What’s in Store for America? 2 Isaiah 16:1-14 Send the lamb (tribute or taxes) to the ruler of the land, From Sela (petra, bozrah) to the wilderness, To the mount of the daughter of Zion. 2 For it shall be as a wandering bird thrown out of the nest; So shall be the daughters of Moab at the fords of the Arnon. 3 “Take counsel, execute judgment; Make your shadow like the night in the middle of the day; Hide the outcasts, Do not betray him who escapes. :4 Let My outcasts dwell with you, O Moab; Be a shelter to them from the face of the spoiler. (Jordan will be a place of sheltering place for Israel) For the extortioner is at an end, Devastation ceases, The oppressors are consumed out of the land. 5 In mercy the throne will be established; And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.” 6 We have heard of the pride of Moab— He is very proud— Of his haughtiness and his pride and his wrath; But his lies shall not be so. 7 Therefore Moab shall wail for Moab; Everyone shall wail. For the foundations of Kir Hareseth you shall mourn; Surely they are stricken. 8 For the fields of Heshbon languish, And the vine of Sibmah; The lords of the nations have broken down its choice plants, Which have reached to Jazer And wandered through the wilderness. Her branches are stretched out, They are gone over the sea. 9 Therefore I will bewail the vine of Sibmah, With the weeping of Jazer; I will drench you with my tears, O Heshbon and Elealeh; For battle cries have fallen Over your summer fruits and your harvest. 10 Gladness is taken away, And joy from the plentiful field; In the vineyards there will be no singing, Nor will there be shouting; No treaders will tread out wine in the presses; I have made their shouting cease. 11 Therefore my heart shall resound like a harp for Moab, And my inner being for Kir Heres. 12 And it shall come to pass, When it is seen that Moab is weary on the high place, That he will come to his sanctuary to pray; But he will not prevail. :13 This is the word which the LORD has spoken concerning Moab since that time. 14 But now the LORD has spoken, saying, “Within three years, as the years of a hired man, the glory of Moab will be despised with all that great multitude, and the remnant will be very small and feeble.” Isaiah 16:1 Send the lamb (tribute or taxes) to the ruler of the land, From Sela (petra, bozrah) to the wilderness, To the mount of the daughter of Zion :3 Hide the outcasts, Do not betray him who escapes. :4 Let My outcasts dwell with you, O Moab; Be a shelter to them from the face of the spoiler. (during the Tribulation period, Jordan will be a place of sheltering place for Israel) During The Tribulation Period to Come, The AC - Matthew 24:14-22 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. :15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. Israel’s Calling Upon The LORD Hosea 5:15, 6:1-3 I will return again to My place Till they (the Jews) acknowledge their offense (singular) . Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.” 6:1 Come, and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.
