It can be argued that Doctor Octopus is the quintessential Spider-man villain and this tale helps propel that argument as Doc Ock pushes Spidey to his absolute limits. That night, Arachne gives him a costume, red to symbolize every innocent whose blood is shed and blue to symbolize sorrow. Peter crawls up Gwen's building at night and finds her room outside the scaffolding. Shortly after the rat is injected with the serum, the rat regrows another limb, completing its leg set. Under the care of Ben and May, and without a word from both of his parents, Peter grew into a teenager, enrolled in Midtown Science High School. Now, Takuya must continue the fight against the villain. Logo Concept by: Illumination Ink All names, trademarks and images are copyright their respective owners. The damsel in distress plot had been used throughout comic book history, but the hero always arrived just in the nick of time… but not this time, and nobody saw it coming. How does a teenager deal with that? Stacy wants to remove the mask to find out who the "hero" is before he puts him behind bars. Takuya gains spider-powers and a psychic sense keyed to warn him about the actions of his enemies, but unfortunately is now also sensitive to cold temperatures just as some spiders are. Nicolas Ayala is a screenwriter, photographer, and model with a passion for blockbusters and big-screen adaptations. Connors, now as what people referred to as the "Lizard", tries to intercept Ratha at the Brooklyn bridge, tossing car by car over the bridge and eventually causing a huge fire. Shortly after the rat is injected with the serum, the rat regrows another limb, completing its leg set. Is it any good? Jonah Jameson begins a smear campaign. However I went with Karma's story since it was very unique and also a book that probably not a lot of people knew about, thus giving it an edge up on the other honorable mentions. • Captain America
The Star-spangled Avenger Adapted from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Captain America first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 (Cover dated March 1941), from Marvel Comics' 1940s predecessor, Timely Comics, and was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. For nearly all of the character's publication history, Captain America was the alter ego of Steve Rogers , a frail young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States war effort. Captain America wears a costume that bears an American flag motif, and is armed with an indestructible shield that can be thrown as a weapon. An intentionally patriotic creation who was often depicted fighting the Axis powers. Captain America was Timely Comics' most popular character during the wartime period. After the war ended, the character's popularity waned and he disappeared by the 1950s aside from an ill-fated revival in 1953. Captain America was reintroduced during the Silver Age of comics when he was revived from suspended animation by the superhero team the Avengers in The Avengers #4 (March 1964). Since then, Captain America has often led the team, as well as starring in his own series. Captain America was the first Marvel Comics character adapted into another medium with the release of the 1944 movie serial Captain America . Since then, the character has been featured in several other films and television series, including Chris Evans in 2011’s Captain America and The Avengers in 2012. The creation of Captain America In 1940, writer Joe Simon conceived the idea for Captain America and made a sketch of the character in costume.

The Amazing Spider-Man #31 (Marvel, 1965) First appearances of three well-known supporting characters in the Spider-Man saga, namely Gwen Stacy, Professor Warren, and also Harry Osborn. Steve Ditko cover art. There is a CGC 9.6 Twin Cities pedigree copy. #10 most valuable 1 st appearance 1965 silver age Marvel comic. Print run estimate: 320,000 copies. Gwendolyn Maxine "Gwen" Stacy is a fictional character who appears in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, usually as a supporting character in those featuring Spider-Man. A college student, Gwen was originally the first true love of Peter Parker before she was murdered by his nemesis Norman Osborn. Spider-Man writers and fans alike often debate whether Peter's "one true love" is Gwen Stacy, or his subsequent love interest, Mary Jane Watson, though stories written long after her death indicate that Gwen still holds a special place in his heart. The character has been portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard in the 2007 film Spider-Man 3 and by Emma Stone as Peter Parker's friend and love interest in the 2012 reboot film The Amazing Spider-Man and the sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, she first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #31 (December 1965). The Green Goblin kidnapped and threw Gwen Stacy off the George Washington Bridge in The Amazing Spider-Man#121 (June 1973) after his Goblin persona returned as a result of stress in his life. Both the decision to kill Gwen and the method in which Marvel implemented it remain controversial among fans because some believe that Peter himself was the one that caused her death.

Calvin Thomas ABSTRACT The Batman media franchise (comics, movies, novels, television, and cartoons) is unique because no other form of written or visual texts has as many artists, audiences, and forms of expression. Understanding the various artists and audiences and what Batman means to them is to understand changing trends and thinking in American culture. The character of Batman has developed into a symbol with relevant characteristics that develop and evolve with each new story and new author. The Batman canon has become so large and contains so many different audiences that it has become a franchise that can morph to fit any group of viewers/readers. Our understanding of Batman and the many readings of him gives us insight into ourselves as a culture in our particular place in history.

While it is obvious. that these comic books can be used in the classroom as a source of reading material, it is tot so obvious that these comic books, with great economy, simplicity, and narrative density, can be used to further introduce novice readers to the techniques found in narrative and to the terms employed in the study and discussion of a narrative. The output of the Marvel Conics Group in particular is literate, is both narratively and pbSlosophically sophisticated, and is ethically and morally responsible.
