Symptoms: *Her acquaintance lives in . She met with this person on March 21, 22, 28, and 29. This person was diagnosed as COVID-19 on April 10.

Close contacts Two cooks at the nursery school and four relatives, all of whom live outside of the city have been identified and samples were taken for testing. As for preschoolers, nursery school staff have checked their health. Health monitoring will continue and PCR test will be conducted on any child who shows symptoms.

COVID-19 Case (Gunma’s fourth confirmed case)

1. Brief Summary On Saturday, March 14, a patient suspected of the new coronavirus infection underwent a PCR and was tested positive. This patient is the close contact of the third confirmed case patient. There is an ongoing epidemiological study, including identifying the people with whom the patient had close contact.

2. The Patient (1) A male in his 70’s (2) Lives in Oizumi-machi, Oura-gun, Gunma (3) Works as a doctor *Name of this patient’s employer, a medical institution Iryo Hojin Shin-I Kai, Mashimo Naika Ichouka (MASHIMO Internal Medicine and Gastrointestinal Clinic) Location: 1-4-1 Shironouchi, Oizumi-machi, Oura-gun (4) Symptoms and actions & traveling *Has an underlying medical condition. Has been hospitalized in an ICU of the Medical Institution B and is in serious condition. (5) Daily actions -The patient has not been outside of the country during the last two weeks preceding to developing symptoms. -According to the patient’s statement, he wore a mask when he made house calls and drove clinic car back and forth his patients’ places. -The patient did not travel by public transportation. -The patient did not drop in at pharmacies. (6) Close contacts As far as we could find out, one relative, eight clinic staff members where the patient works, and 58 people with whom the patient had contact either during house calls or as out-patients. The prefectural government had requested all of them to undergo daily health check and to voluntarily refrain from going out.

The second confirmed case in Gunma 1. Brief Summary On Thursday, March 12, a patient suspected of the new coronavirus infection underwent a PCR and was tested positive. This patient is one of the close contacts of the first confirmed case patient. COVID-19 Gunma’s first confirmed caseی

The Patient (1) A female in her 60’s (2) Lives in Ota City, Gunma (3) Works as a part-time employee (4) Symptoms and daily actions & traveling -On March 11, when the patient showed the first symptoms, and thereafter, she only visited the Medical Institution A . -The patient used her car to get there. The patient wore a face mask when she visited the Medical Institution A, and she had no close contact with other patients there. -The patient has no underlying medical conditions and is in stable condition.

The third confirmed case in Gunma 1. Brief Summary On Thursday, March 12, a patient suspected of the new coronavirus infection underwent a PCR and was tested positive. There is an ongoing epidemiological study, including identifying the people with whom the patient had close contact. 2. The Patient (1) A female in her 60’s (2) Lives in Ota City, Gunma (3) Works as a nurse (not the medical institution the first confirmed case patient had visited) (4) Symptoms and daily actions & traveling -The patient wore a face mask and had no close contacts with other patients when she went to the Medical Institutions B & C to see a doctor. -The patient did not visit pharmacies. -Although the patient has underlying medication conditions, she is in stable condition. (5) Daily actions & traveling -The patient did not go out of the country during the two weeks preceding to developing symptoms. She used her car only to go to work and to do shopping within Gunma. -Saturday, March 7 afternoon on, the patient did not leave the house except to go see a doctor. -The patient traveled in her car and did not use any public transportation. (6) Close contacts As of now, the only person, her husband, is the known close contact. The prefectural government had requested him to undergo daily health check and to voluntarily refrain from going out.

COVID-19 Case (Second report of Gunma’s 1st confirmed case)

1. Brief Summary On Saturday, March 7, a patient suspected of being infected by the new coronavirus tested positive for the COVID-19. This was the first case of confirmed case in Gunma. An epidemiological investigation, including identifying the people with whom this patient had close contact is already underway.

2. The Patient (1) A female in her 40’s (2) Lives in Ota City, Gunma (3) Works as a teacher in a nursery school in Ota City *Name of school: Shakai Fukushi Hojin Kizaki Ikuenkai, Kizaki Aozora Hoikuen (Kizaki Aozora Nursery School) Location: 985 Nitta Nakaeda-cho, Ota Enrollment limit: 120 children (4) Progression of symptoms -The patient always wore a face mask when she saw doctors at Medical Institutions A, B, & C. -The patient had no close contacts with other patients at these medical institutions she visited. -The patient wore a face mask when she dropped in at a pharmacy. -The patient is hospitalized in an ICU of the Medical Institution C and is in serious condition. (5) Records of daily actions and traveling -No overseas trips in the last two weeks of the patient’s developing symptoms Have traveled to locations outside of Gunma but not including the places where clusters were reported in the media. For this patient, therefore, route of infection has not been identified. -As from March 3, the patient has not been reported to work. -The patient used only her car to travel within Gunma after she developed symptoms, meaning she did not use any public transportation. *This case is still under investigation, and no other details are available at this moment. The relevant information on preventing the infection from this case will of course be released as soon as it is available to us. (6) Close contacts As of now, the patient lives with her parents. (no other person/s living together) There are 152 people with whom the patient had close contact and the prefectural government were able to identify so far. They are her parents, 3 relatives, all children and staff members at the nursery school where the patient works. From March 7 on, the prefectural government had started contacting these people one by one to make specific requests such as daily health check for the duration of two weeks, refrain voluntarily from going out, and report any conditions such as fever or common cold-like symptoms to us, upon which they will be subjected to a PCR test.

Hokenjo (local healthcare center) is continue to find out more close contacts of this patient. As of today, three close contacts show some symptoms, and they are scheduled to undergo a PCR test at Ken Eisei Kankyo Kenkyusho (Gunma Prefectural Institute of Public Health and Environmental Sciences.
