FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 22, 2018 Contact: Sarah Mills Bacha 614.563.1066 Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love at CATCO May 30-June 17 Chamber musical by one of musical theatre’s legends explores the many forms of love Love takes many forms – love between couples; romantic infatuation; the devotion of married people; and the ties of children to their parents. This chamber musical, written by one of contemporary musical theatre’s icons, Andrew Lloyd Webber, who gave us beloved classics, such as Phantom of the Opera and Evita, examines all of them. “Love Changes Everything” is the theme song of this musical first produced in 1989 in London and based upon a 1955 novella written by David Garnett, and “nothing in the world will ever be the same.” Aspects of Love, with book and music by Webber and lyrics by Don Black and Charles Hart, is presented through special arrangement with R&H Theatricals: www.rnh.com “Aspects of Love is one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s lesser known works because it was produced after his blockbuster works of the 1970s and 1980s, but it is no less memorable with beautiful romantic lyrics and music, hallmarks of Webber musicals,” said Steven C. Anderson, CATCO producing director, who will direct CATCO’s chamber production. “If you loved the music of Phantom of the Opera, Cats and Evita and other works by Webber, you won’t want to miss CATCO’s presentation of Aspects of Love,” Anderson, said. Alex invites Rose to spend some time with him at his wealthy uncle's mansion in Pau. Uncle George is away but the gardener informs him of Alex's plans and George Dillingham decides to investigate things for himself. George has been in Paris with a young mistress, Giulietta, an Italian sculptor but he leaves her to travel to Pau and meet Rose who, on his arrival at Pau, shocks him: she is wearing a dress that used to belong to his late wife. Two years pass, and, visiting his uncle in Paris, Alex finds that Rose has moved in with George. Alex is incensed and attempts to shoot George. There is a struggle but it is Rose who is injured. George leaves and rejoins Giulietta. It is here that Rose arrives and is immediately attracted to Giulietta. It doesn't stop her asking George to marry her, however, and he does so. Twelve years later Rose is performing in Paris when the 30-year old Alex appears on the scene. Rose takes Alex down to Pau where George is living with their daughter, Jenny. LOW MALE VOICE REPERTOIRE IN CONTEMPORARY MUSICAL THEATRE: A STUDIO AND PERFORMANCE GUIDE OF SELECTED SONGS 1996-2020 by Jeremy C. Gussin Submitted to the faculty of the Jacobs School of Music in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree, Doctor of Music Indiana University December 2020 Accepted by the faculty of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree Doctor of Music Doctoral Committee __________________________________________ Ray Fellman, Research Director __________________________________________ Brian Gill, Chair __________________________________________ Jane Dutton __________________________________________ Peter Volpe December 10, 2020 ii Copyright © 2020 Jeremy Gussin iii Preface This project is intended to be a resource document for bass voices and teachers of low male voices at all levels. For the purposes of this document, I will make use of the established term low male voice (LMV) while acknowledging that there is a push for the removal of gender from voice classification in the industry out of respect for our trans, non-binary and gender fluid populations. In addition to analysis and summation of musical concepts and content found within each selection, each repertoire selection will include discussions of style, vocal technique, vocalism, and character in an effort to establish routes towards authenticity in the field of musical theatre over the last twenty five years. The explosion of online streaming and online sheet music resources over the last decade enable analysis involving original cast recordings, specific noteworthy performances, and discussions on transposition as it relates to the honoring of character and capability of an individual singer. My experiences with challenges as a young low voice (waiting for upper notes to develop, struggling with resonance strategies above a D♭4) with significant musicianship prowess left me searching for a musically challenging outlet outside of the Bel Canto aesthetic.

  • Aspects of Love

  • An Examination and Revision of the Love Attitude Scale in Serbia
An Examination and Revision of the Love Attitude Scale in Serbia Bojan Todosijević1, Aleksandra Arančić and Snežana Ljubinković Deparment of Psychology, University of Novi Sad, Serbia Abstract The research reports on results of an initial application of the Love Attitude Scale (Hendrick & Hendrick, 1986) in Serbia. The study was conducted on the sample of 127 respondents, mainly of adolescent age, from Subotica, Serbia. We explored the factor structure of the Love Attitude Scale, analyzed relationships between its subscales, and examined relevant correlates of its dimensions. We also performed extensive item analysis of the scale, and proposed several new items for the use in the revised Love Attitude Scale for Serbia. Correlates of the revised subscales correspond to those obtained with the original scale and in other countries. The results confirm cross-cultural stability of the six-dimensional structure of the Love Attitude Scale. It was concluded that the Serbian adaptation was successful, and that the translated and slightly revised scale can be used as a valid instrument for the assessment of the six love styles. Keywords: Love styles; factor analysis; romantic behavior; Serbia For many years academic psychologists had not been interested in research on love. However, the last two decades witnessed rising interest in this aspect of human psychology with many developments and research programs. One of the outcomes is a number of operationalizations of different attitudes to love, love styles, or dimensions of love. Some examples are Rubin's (1970) Love Scale, the Love Scale developed by Munro and Adams (1978), the „Erotometer‟ developed by Bardis (1978), and Sternberg‟s Triangular Love Scale (1986, 1987, 1997).

He talked about this fabulous one-woman musical. I bought the musical selections and sang “Tell Me on a Sunday” through the teenage tears of heartbreak. It got me through. We chose to produce Song and Dance in celebration of the new School of the Arts (or SOTA) at Central Gwinnett High School. We want these students to see themselves on stage.
