Farhana Choudhury Lecturer, Department of Interior Architecture Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, Bangladesh Abstract The study of Interior design history of any country or society signifies the history of the settlement of the particular society, their level of culture, heritage, education and environment. All these several aspects indicate to the originality, individuality or in a word, ‘Design statement’ of a specific society or country. Design Statements serve to present intent, process, and the context of work. They vary from addressing a specific piece to looking at the overall approach to design. Design as art is the choices that the designers make in distinguishing themselves from others, and design statement is an expression of those choices. Modern human life actually evolves within one Interior to another. One may prefer open air, cool breeze or open field once or twice in a day but for resting purpose, executing household works, education or profession the ultimate destination is within the enclosure of four walls, a ceiling and a floor, an Interior space. So Interior plays a very significant role in life. There are several perspectives to look into Interior design; it may be professional or armature but the important aspect of it is impossible to escape. Abstract Archaeological tourism is a prospective tourism form to exalt the country branding. The objective of this study is to underline the 4A development to advance Mahasthangarh as an exceptional tourism destination in Bangladesh. The authors have used focus group discussion and observation method among the stakeholders to find out the eventual results. A longitudinal study among the local community people has been conducted to find out how community archaeology can develop local economy. Disability access, funding mechanisms, signage and language, new technology and social media, marketing and merchandise, coordinated tourism strategies, environmental impact assessment, logistics for visitors, scope for vernacular arts and crafts possibly in the form of merchandise sold to the tourists, strategies to mitigate the harmful effects by increased footfall of tourists are included in a brief. Sustainable 4A development can lead the destination to reach a new height as well as can support the concerned authorities to ensure adequate facilities and flexible accessibility to open the door of archaeological tourism at Mahasthangarh which can turn the rural economy of this area into an emblematic example. 1. Exclusive Breast Feeding in a Bangladesh National Nutrition Program Area: The Case in Bhanga Upazila Rezaul Karim, Md. Nazrullslam Khan· and Md. Akhtaruzzamana Institute of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Dhaka, Dhaka-1000 Abstract A statistically selected representative sample of 482 households in Bhanga upazila was studied to observe mother's knowledge and practice of the right duration of exclusive breast-feeding in an NNP area. Although a large number of mothers knew the right duration of exclusive breast-feeding, fewer practiced it for their last infant. Apart from some health constratints. lack of knowledge and motivation were the main reasons for early and late introduction of supplementary feeding. Regular participation in GMP sessions improved mother's knowledge of the right duration of exclusive breast-feeding, and improved knowledge increased practice while higher levels of mother's literacy accelerated the learning. Literate mothers were three times more likely and mothers who participated in GMP sessions regularly were almost three times more likely to know the right duration of exclusive breast-feeding compared to illi terate mothers and mothers who never participated in GMP sessions respectively. Mothers who knew the right duration were about 28 times more likely to practice it compared to the mothers who did not know it. A strong public awareness campaign aimed at the mothers could better motivate them to participate in GMP sessions more regularly leading to improved knowledge and increased practice of the right duration of exclusive breast-feeding realizing the full potential of NNP. Other Damages: Electric lines and poles are affected. 200ft of prison boundary wall collapsed. 420ft of prison security boundary wall collapsed. Women word kitchen, security wall and partition including main gate of prison collapsed. Road Communication systems collapsed due to numerous trees broken down. Immediate Action Taken: Rescue operation is going with the help of Police, BGB, Roads and Highway, PWD and local leaders. Construction of 10ft height CI sheet partition in prison. Electricity system is up now inside district prison by generator. Electric lines and poles repaired immediately. Akhand3 1Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO), Dhaka 2 Ministry of Defence, Government of Bangladesh (GoB) 3 Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO), Dhaka Abstract In this paper, attempt has been made to prepare landuse map for the district of Brahmanbaria, situated in the east-central part of Bangladesh using remote sensing technique. The multi-spectral Landsat TM data for 3 November 2002, 15 December 2004, 01 February 2002, 14 March 2003 and some aerial photographs of December 2000 have been used for land-use mapping for major three crops namely aman rice (late July - early November), winter (rabi) crops and winter (boro) rice. The imagery covers the growing seasons of the above crops, where multi-spectral and multi-temporal signatures for the green vegetations have been shown in spatial domain. The interpretation of the aerial photographs have also been performed and prepared GIS layers containing the water bodies and settlements. All the signature files including the interpretations of aerial photographs have been combined to produce a composite file in GIS layers. These layers were then combined to prepare the landuse maps including the three major crops cultivated round the year. Moreover, the landuse map of Akhaura upazila was compared with the land-type map and a relation of the landuse with the land-type has also been derived. -
