Banyoles became well-known as the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games Rowing venue. Since then it has been a favourite location for crews and has hosted several international. rowing events such as the Rowing World Cup 2009, Kayak Marathon World Championship 2010 and Coupe de la Jeunesse 2012.
