[email protected] [email protected] Mobile: +91-9435381043 A Brief Profile Dr. P. Anbarasan is Associate Professor in the Dept. of Mass Communication and Journalism of Tezpur Central University. He has been teaching media and communication for the last 15 years. He specializes in film studies, culture & communication studies, and international communication. He has done his doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Earlier he had studied in University Madras and Bangalore University. Before becoming teacher he worked in All India Radio and some newspapers. He has published books on Gulf war and European Radio European identity and Culture in addition to other culture and communication research works. His interest area is media and the marginalized. 1 Work Presently Associate Professor in Mass Communication and Experience Journalism, at Tezpur central University since March 2005. Earlier worked as Lecturer in the Department of Mass communication & Journalism, Assam University, Silchar, Assam from September 2000 to March 2005. Prior to that worked as Junior officer of the Indian Information Service, from 1995 to 2000 and was posted at the Central Monitoring Service, New Delhi ( March 1995 to Sept. 2000). 2 Education Obtained PhD from at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi on the topic: “The European Union’s Cultural and Audiovisual Policy: A Discourse towards Integration beyond Borders” in 2012. Earlier completed M Phil in 1997 at Jawaharlal Nehru University on a topic, “Gulf Crisis and European Media: A study of Radio coverage and Its Impact”. Had done M A in Communication at University of Madras, in 1991. Obtained Bachelors degree from Bangalore University, enrolled in Christ college, (Psychology, English and sociology) in 1989. Had also obtained another Bachelor Degree in Philosophy from Dharmaram College in the year 1984. 3 Specialized Had done film appreciation course at French Cultural courses Centre, New Delhi in collaboration with Nation Film Archives, Pune 1999. Had done basic course in photography, organised by Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi 1998. Basic course in communication, at Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. 1995 4 Special training Participated in a two-day workshop on International programmes Humanitarian Law (IHL) organised by International attended Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Department of Communication and Journalism, Gauhati University, Guwahati, August 29 -30, 2006. Attended two-week Social Science Research Methods training at Manipur University, Imphal, organised by Indian Council for Social Science and Research (ICSSR), North East Regional centre, Shillong, 2004. Attended University Grants Commission (UGC) sponsored orientation course for teachers at Academic Staff College, JNU, New Delhi, in 2002. 5 Important Functioned as the Head of the Department of Mass Assignments Communication and Journalism, Tezpur University for three year period from 2005 to 2007. Organised extension programmes on development communication using traditional media programmes like, street play and puppetry. Organised short film festivals in the university Organised special lectures by eminent scholars. Edit and publish students’ lab journals. Was the coordinator of PG Diploma programme on “Mobile and Multimedia Communication” under UGC supported Innovative programme scheme. Member of Academic Council, Tezpur University. Member of Board of Studies, Mass Communication, Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar. Member of Board of Under Graduate Studies, Mass Communication, Northeastern Hill University, Shillong.
