Dear John

Draft Chiltern and South Bucks – Local Plan 2036 – Publication Version

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to comment on your Local Plan Publication consultation.

We welcome the collaboration within your Housing Market Area to meet need. You take account of the Government’s standardised methodology for calculating need. It should be noted that our demographic modelling provides alternative population and household projections that could also be taken into account when applying the standardised approach. Our projections include consistent outputs for all local authorities in and form the basis for housing need in the draft new London Plan. They are available on the London Datastore: https://data.london.gov.uk/dataset/projections.

In the light of its proximity to London as well as Chiltern and South Bucks’ strategic position in the motorway network (M25/M40), it could potentially be useful to consider related collaboration opportunities, also including land for distribution and logistics, as well as wider sustainability implications.

It should be noted that in particular South Bucks is located within the new London Plan’s Strategic Infrastructure Priority ‘Great Western Mainline (London - Reading / Western Rail Access to Heathrow)’ (see Policy SD3 and Figure 2.15).

Connectivity and capacity of the transport links with London will considerably improve through the Elizabeth Line. As in particular South Bucks borders London, we would be grateful, if consideration could also be given to the Healthy Streets Approach that is set out in the Mayor’s Transport Strategy and Policy T2 of the draft London Plan.

We would be happy to discuss the matters raised above further. Please get in touch with Jorn Peters ([email protected], if you would like to arrange a meeting.

Yours sincerely
