2 Verifying Organization Eligibility

Volunteer hours completed at any 501c3 in good standing with the IRS are eligible for Dollars for Doers and volunteer time off.

There are several resources available to determine if an organization is a 501c3:

• Associate Engagement Site – log in and enter your organization’s name, state and (if available) tax ID. The site is linked to the IRS database and will recognize eligible charities.

If your search on the Associate Engagement Site doesn’t display your organization as an option, you are encouraged to double-check eligibility using one of the following tools:

• Guidestar (Recommended) • Navigator • Better Business Bureau Charity Review • IRS Charity Check

Locating Organization Tax ID/EIN

Knowing your organization’s tax ID (also referred to as an EIN) will make it easier to verify their eligibility and track your hours.

To locate an organization’s tax ID/EIN use the search function on Guidestar (instructions).

4 Identifying Volunteer Project Opportunities

Many associates are already active volunteers in their communities, while others are for the first time. Regardless of your circumstance, there are tools and resources available to help you find volunteers opportunities.

Associates who volunteer at one of WellPoint’s Featured Charities have the opportunity to earn ‘double the dollars’ for their volunteer time. Featured Charities were selected based on their alignment to our company strategy, their national recognition and reach, and their local affiliates and members so that impact can be made on the health of our communities on the local level.
