These four years will go by quickly, so it is important to take time in preparing each step toward graduation. Selecting courses of study is an important responsibility. The classes you choose to take will prepare you for the continuation of your education in a four-year college or university, community college, vocational school, military service, or work after graduation. Your choices should be made with your future goals in mind. It is important that you consult with your parents, counselors and teachers in determining the proper courses to take to get you where you want to go. This course catalog is designed to be a helpful resource as you plan your future. The instructions are clear, but you need to take the time to read them. Outlined in this document, you will find requirements for graduation, which classes count for university entrance, which classes fit into your chosen pathway, and much more. Familiarizing yourself with the process of registration and the credit requirements will make the process smooth and understandable.     10/8/20 Admin Kat Sherer, Dean of Students Joined RMS Staff 9/9/2015 Rainier Community - Greetings! I am starting my 21st year in education but this will be my first year as an administrator. I am a Proud Panther, girls basketball coach and athletic director. My first five years at RMS, I worked as a Special education teacher in the Pathway Program. Prior to coming to the Auburn School District, I spent 15 years teaching P.E./Health/Math/Science in high schools in and around Portland, OR. My favorite part of teaching has always been centered around building relationships with students and providing a positive approach of support. Most importantly - I like to have fun while learning with our students. I grew up in a small town in Idaho and I’m a proud Bronco from Boise State University. I love and live in the outdoors; camping, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, fishing and exploring National Parks. I just bought a home in Bonney Lake, so I guess I’m officially a Washingtonian! Revised January 2017 Auburn School District Health Profile Introduction The Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) is a collaborative effort of the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Department of Health, the Department of Social and Health Service's Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery, the Department of Commerce, and the Liquor Control Board. The survey provides important information about youth in Washington State. The Information from HYS is used to guide policy and programs that serve youth and to identify trends in the patterns of behavior over time. In October of even-numbered years, since 2002, students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 answered questions about safety and violence, physical activity and diet, alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, and related risk and protective factors. This School District Health Profile, developed by Public Health in collaboration with school districts, summarizes HYS data to provide information on key health indicators and their determinants. It combines all grades for which the question is asked for 2012 point estimates (see pages 3-9) and stratifies by 8th graders and 10th and 12 graders combined for point estimates from 2004-2012 (see page 10). Comparisons for statistically significant differences between 2010 and 2012 estimates are also included (see page 11). Responses are weighted to district level enrollment by gender and grade level to ensure data were representative of all students in the district within the sampled grades.
