ONLY LOGISTIC PLATFORM NATIONAL n/a GENOVA PORT - MILAN PROPOSAL IN 2005 Strategic plan for the North-West of Milan

Comunimprese recently drowed up a strategic plan for the North-West of Milan (www.comunimprese.it): the documentation available today provides a good foundation for the drawing-up/development of a complete strategic plan of the area which integrates different sectorial aspects and furnishes a complete vision and system of the whole area. The strategic plan is defined as the element which joins all the project initiatives which the local administrations/authorities, the big private operators and private firms have on the drawing-board or expect to create. Furthermore, the strategic plan satisfies the need to verify and co-ordinate the same projects with the aim of assuring the congruency of all initiatives of development for the whole area. Logistic platform connecting Genova port - Milan

Another project that was made known in 2005, and an other case of territorial governance, was the creation of a “Logistic platform connecting trucks and cargo-ships”, promoted by Finporto (port of Genoa, Liguria). The project was presented in Province of Milan by Finporto in partnership with BancaIntesa (one of the biggest Bank of ), ComunImprese, Milano Metropoli (the development agency of the metropolitan area of Milan), and Catholic University of Milan and integrated the “Centre for Sustainable Mobility”. A strategic match-point among railway, street and port, and also new job opportunities (2,500 jobs); the Finporto project was considered by the local authorities but at the moment it remains only a proposal because of some unsolved problem like political uncertainties, big local concerns about its environmental sustainability.
