These are “small” numbers that speak of huge courage and commitment. These efforts must be commended, supported and further expanded. • Children need much more than occasional deliveries of supplies. Children are at risk of being killed and maimed because of landmines, other explosives • Child protection services cannot be meaningfully delivered to these children in the space of a few hours during weapons and snipers fire in and around besieged areas; they are involved in distributions of lifesaving supplies. Child protection actors need meaningful, unconditional and sustained dangerous work to survive; they are being recruited and used by armed groups; humanitarian access to those communities. they are finding themselves alone, without adult caregivers; they are under enormous psychosocial distress. • Despite the risks, there must be increased investment in these local efforts. Syria’s besieged children cannot wait any longer.
