@I instructions of my Government I have the honour to refer to my letter to ;yau of yesterday, 2 December i958 (s/EjgE), and to inform you that, Jordanian aWx%cks against have continued also last night 2-3 December, At 2315 hours a concerted artillery barrage was opened from Jordanian territory against Israeli villages in the Beit Shean and Valleys. The VilbfJeS shelled were Kfar Rupin, Maoz I-Iaim,, Neve Eitm, Hamadiya, Beit Yosef, Yaxdena, Ashdot Yaakov, Tel Rat&r, Kinneret. Israel forces returned fire in self-defence, in the direction of the sOlXt?ces of fire in Jordan. As the Jordanian attack continued and grew in intensity it became necessary to employ also aircraft; to silence the Jordanian fire, The exchange of fire ended only at 0200 hours. It is to be observed in particular that Iraqi forces stationed in Jordan , violsted the cease-fire by launching an assault on Israeli villages from 122 mm* guns.
