The US$6.83-million SWATCH FIVB World Tour is scheduled over an eight-month period starting in April in Brazil and ending in November in Thailand. The US$600,000 Foro Italico Beach Volley Grand Slam is the third of 12 double gender events on the 2010 SWATCH FIVB World Tour calendar. For more information regarding the SWATCH FIVB World Tour, please visit www.fivb.org or www.beachvolleyroma.com. · The SWATCH FIVB World Tour will visit to the Rome for the second-straight season as the international Beach Volleyball circuit stages its first of six Grand slam events in 2010. Rome will also host the 2011 SWATCH FIVB World Championships June 17-26 at the Parco del Foro Italico. The Foro Italico Beach Volley Grand Slam is one of two new SWATCH Grand Slam stops in 2010 along with Stare Jablonki, Poland. The $3.6-million SWATCH FIVB World Tour Grand Slam series will also return to Austria (Klagenfurt), Norway (Stavanger), Russia (Moscow) and Switzerland (Gstaad). The 2010 will mark the 15th men’s SWATCH FIVB World Tour event in Italy while the women will be competing in the European country for ninth-time with the last event being in 2006 at Modena. Roma · The Foro Italico Beach Volley Grand Slam starts May 17 and concludes May 23. The winning teams in each gender will share the $43,500 first-place prizes. With Dalhausser and Rogers finishing fourth in the second 2010 event in China after losing in the bronze medal match to Alison and Emanuel, Harley Marques and Pedro Salgado reunited to win their third Shanghai gold medal together in the last four years by defeating Germany’s Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann 21-15, 13-21 and 17-15 in the 62-minute title match on May 8. · WOMEN’S SEASON OPENING EVENTS- For the fifth-time in the last six years, Brazilians Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca netted the title at the season’s first SWATCH FIVB World Tour event by capturing the gold medal April 24 in Brasília by defeating Germans Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig in the finals 21-15 and 21-19 in 41 minutes. After placing fourth in the season opener, 2009 world champions Jen Kessy and April Ross of the United States rebounded to win the women’s Shanghai stop by scoring a 15-21,

The Foro Boario in Modena will stage a bulk of the matches as Carpi is located 21 km ( 13 miles ) north west of Modena and Sassuolo is 19 km ( 12 miles ) southwest of Modena. · This is the first of 15 women’s event s on the 2006 SWATCH -FIVB World Tour . The 2006 campaign marks the 15th season for FIVB women’s competition. · The Italian Open will be the 135th women’s SWATCH -FIVB World Tour Beach Volleyball event (open, grand slam, Olympic and Goodwill). Following the Salvador stop, the SWATCH-FIVB World Tour returns to Acapulco October 25-30 as the world’s best men’s and women’s Beach Volleyball players compete on the Playa Tamarindos for the first-time since 1999 when Mexico hosted the inaugural qualifying event for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. While the men’s competition was at the start of a six-week break between events, the women held their 13th SWATCH-FIVB World Tour stop this past week in Indonesia where Brazil’s Renata Ribeiro and Talita Antunes validated their gold medal success in Athens at the start of September with a Bali title Sunday. With their 21-19 and 27-25 Bali championship win over the “legendary” Brazilian tandem of Adriana Behar and Shelda Bede, Renata and Talita are now 2-2 in gold medal matches this season. Their first three title matches were against Brazilian rivals Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca, the top-ranked team on the 2005 SWATCH-FIVB World Tour. Juliana and Larissa, who have won five SWATCH-FIVB World Tour gold medals this season enroute to clinching the women’s season points title, skipped the Indonesia event after playing in 12 events over a 16-week period.
