NEWPORT CITY COUNCIL Member’s Annual Report This is the report by the Councillor below regarding their key activities over the year ending 15 May 2018. It is provided for the information of all constituents and for no other purpose. I have attended public meetings to hear residents’ concerns relating to the withdrawal of the X16 bus service from Marshfield and related meetings with Officers. I have also attended meetings with residents of Peterstone and officers relating to the proposed sewerage system for St. Peters Crescent. I have attended several meetings with Police and businesses about the parking problems in Imperial Way, Coedkernew I am a member of St. Bridgets Church parochial church council. Section 4: Involvement in local, county or regional initiatives I attended the Duke of Edinburgh awards ceremony Section 5: Other activities as a Councillor in 2017/18 May 2017 to May 2018 I am the Deputy Mayor for Newport and have been covering civic engagements in the Mayor’s absence .

Harris (Goldcliff) 2 Minutes of the Previous Meeting: 6 December 2018 Agreed: To confirm the minutes of the meeting held on the 6th December 2018 3 Matters Arising Matters Arising A question was asked in relation to Nash Community Hall and information regarding charges on the hall. The Chair explained that this would need to be followed up with the Head of Finance. The Chair commented that if Nash Community Hall hired the hall for non-profit then they were entitled to the rates exemption. If the Hall was leased exclusively to a class, then the Hall would be charged. A representative stated that management of the working group was required for the halls to prosper so they are hired out and used all day. The representative stated that the money made was used on the hall and it was not hired out to Newport City Council to hold elections, it was to be used for local residents. It was requested by the Chair for Nash Community Council to be consulted on the above information. A representative asked whether political interest should be declared on the Declaration of Interest Form. The Chair confirmed that it was good practice to fill it in but this was not compulsory.

Matters Arising Newport City Council Contact Centre A representative asked whether the clerks would be allowed to have their own email address to send in issues to the Contact centre as city councillors have their own email address. The Chair confirmed that the Members email address for Streetscene was internal only and was secure and was for the 50 elected members but those members could not use it to bypass issues, for example, issues like potholes would still be directed to the contact centre. A Clerks only email address was something that could be looked at but it could not be given out to members of the public.
