Carnegie Shadowing is an annual fixture in the LRC calendar. The Book Group, named the Rougemont Readers, spends much of the year reading some of the titles longlisted for the Carnegie Medal. We also create a Carnegie Shadowing website and upload reviews, blogs and films on a weekly basis. The Carnegie Medal is presented annually to the writer of the best children’s novel. After Easter, the Rougemont Readers then read all eight of the shortlisted titles.

This year, seven fellow enthusiastic readers from St Joseph’s R.C. High School spent the morning with us here at Rougemont, sharing their passion for literature and discussion. The Rougemont team consisted of ten Year 7 pupils, namely Sree, Ananya, Shreya, Taylor, Liam, Evan, Lillie- Mae, Izzy, Ava and Darcey. In mixed teams, Rougemont and St Joseph’s pupils created iMovies for each of the eight books shortlisted for the YEAR 11 2018 Carnegie Medal. At lunchtime, the teams presented their film to PROM the other groups. The end results were truly impressive. The groups incorporated animation, artwork and drama into their movies and their interpretations of each book were absolutely fascinating.

Well done, Rougemont Readers! You were inspirational.

What happens when you take Year 6 girls on Netball Tour?

Apart from excitement, great camaraderie and conversation, you YEAR 6 get superb Netball!

NETBALL Our first stop was Merthyr Tydfil, for the Welsh Netball Nationals. The girls played with determination and great resilience against teams from across the whole of Wales. Being gracious in defeat, we left Merthyr with a sense of pride that we had worked hard to earn our place in the final and were ready to enjoy our matches in Bath.

In Bath, we played our first match against Monkton Coombe ROUGEMONT Preparatory School. After the match we had afternoon tea before heading off to our accommodation in the REVIEW YMCA. On Friday morning we played a number of matches against Royal SPORT High Junior School. It was a great experience for the girls and some great netball was played.
