Vets across the country have started a campaign to raise awareness of the health issues faced by brachycephalic breeds. Brachycephalic animals have been selectively bred to create short, squashed noses. This problem is most frequently encountered in dog breeds such as pugs and bulldogs, but is also seen in cats and rabbits. n recent years there has been a dramatic rise in the popularity of these breeds and it is easy to Iunderstand why. It is believed that their short noses and huge eyes create similarities with human babies and thus are naturally appealing. They tend to be extremely loving and caring dogs with fantastic characters. Their quirky and amusing qualities have made them popular choices for advertising campaigns and celebrities alike thus further promoting flat-faced breeds and normalising their welfare issues. Unfortunately in creating the characteristic flat face of these breeds the skull conformation has been dramatically altered. These abnormalities are
