Abu Ajaaj, father of three children, was arrested on the regime’s checkpoint at the main entrance of Al-Yarmouk camp. He used to work as Cameraman, filming national and Palestinian events in addition to wedding parties. Abu Ajaaj’s brother, Fadi, is a Palestinian activist who was also killed by mortar shelling hit Al-Rieja Square in Al-Yarmouk camp on 8 September 2013. RECENT UPDATES The Syrian Regime’s warplanes have dropped, this morning, 14 explosive barrels on the farms surrounding Khan Eshieh Camp, causing extreme panic and horror to civilians and children in particular. The shelling targeted the areas of Al-Saeed Street, Al-Villat and Nestle Street, around the old camp. In the same camp, Jafra Foundation held an activity to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Palestinian Land’s Day, the activity included planting 111 olive seedlings along the “River Road” inside the camp. The activity was attended by representatives of the Palestinian forces and factions as well as the local elders. The foundation’s officials said “planting the trees expresses our engagement and connection to our lands in Palestine, those olive trees mean a lot to us, olive is the tree of life, a symbol of generosity and peace” as described. In Al-Yarmouk Camp, Palestine Charity Association in cooperation with the Jenin Scout and Sports Club, held a festival on the Land’s day under the title “Homeland’s Soil Not Exile’s Heaven”. The festival which included marathon and other sport activities was attended by the Swedish Aid Campaign and Al-Wafaa European Campaign among large audience from Al-Yarmouk camp’s residents. Khaed Al-Yousef, the Campaign’s director, said they brought 2.000 parcels that include food, flour, and various medicines, adding; the campaign is supposed to stay in the Syrian territories for five days. In a different topic, activists around the world commemorated the first anniversary of Yahya Al-Hourani, the well-known humanitarian activist who was assassinated in Al-Yarmouk camp by unknown gunmen while heading to Palestine Hospital where he used to work Al-Hourani, who descends from Homs’ Camp, was an internationally recognized and ICRC certified trainer in humanitarian crises management, worked in Palestine Charity Association inside the Al-Yarmouk, and played a significant role in relief and development during the siege period inside the camp. More than 71,200 Palestinian refugee from Syria arrived Europe by the end of December 2015. Al-Yarmouk Camp: still under the siege imposed by Syrian Regime's Army and the PFLP-GC (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command for 1019 days. Power cut for 1080 days, water cut for 569 days. The number of victims resulting from the siege is 186. Al-Sbeina Camp: Syrian Regime's Army still preventing the residents from returning to their houses for 875 days. Handarat Camp: All of its residents have left the camp for 1067 days after the Syrian Opposition Groups controlled it. Dara’a Camp: water cut continues for 728 days. 70% of its buildings are destroyed. Jarmana, AL-Saieda Zainab, Al-Raml, Al-Aedein Homs and Al- Aedein camp of Hama: A relatively quiet situation with economic crises. Khan Eshieh Camp: All roads linking the camp to the city are still closed back and forth except for Zakia-Khan Eshieh road.
