Material and Methods: A survey in cashew orchard was carried out in Béré, Poro, Hambol and Marahoué Regions. Buds showing attacks of Helopeltis sp were collected to isolate fungus. A biological control test was carried out in situ on Helopeltis sp in Dikodougou, Napié and Tortiya. -

Keanekaragaman kumbang ini masih belum banyak diketahui dan dipelajari di Indonesia, terutama di Provinsi Riau. Sedangkan provinsi ini memiliki heterogenitas vegetasi yang tinggi yang merupakan habitat dan sumber makanan bagi kumbang antena panjang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginventarisasi dan mengkarakterisasi kumbang longhorn di hutan Talang Pematang Pudu Provinsi Riau. Metode yang digunakan adalah menggunakan perangkap Arthrocarpus. Kumbang dikumpulkan pada pukul 15.00 wib. Kemudian dilakukan pengawetan dan identifikasi karakter morfologi berdasarkan ciri kepala, dada dan perut. Hasil penelitian didapatkan sebanyak 12 spesies kumbang longhorn, dengan genera yang terdiri dari Sybra, Pterolophia, dan Epepeotes dari Subfamili Lamiinae. Jumlah individu yang diperoleh sebanyak 110 kumbang. Ciri-ciri kumbang longhorn yang dapat membedakan jenis kumbang terdapat pada ciri-ciri antena, elytra, skutelum dan pronotum. Kata Kunci : Kumbang longhorn, Cerambycid, Riau ABSTRACT:The longhorn beetle known as the Cerambycid beetle, is a beetle that has a very important role in the decomposition process which is useful for the balance of the forest ecosystem. The diversity of these beetles is still not widely known and studied in Indonesia, expectially in Riau Province. Meanwhile, the province has high vegetation heterogeneity which is a habitat and source of food for long antennae beetles. -

Peck Department of Biology, Carleton University, 1125 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 5B6, Canada stewart_peck@carleton. ca Abstract. The beetle fauna of the island of Dominica is summarized. It is presently known to contain 269 genera, and 361 species (in 42 families), of which 347 are named at a species level. Of these, 62 species are endemic to the island. The other naturally occurring species number 262, and another 23 species are of such wide distribution that they have probably been accidentally introduced and distributed, at least in part, by human activities. Undoubtedly, the actual numbers of species on Dominica are many times higher than now reported. This highlights the poor level of knowledge of the beetles of Dominica and the Lesser Antilles in general. Of the species known to occur elsewhere, the largest numbers are shared with neighboring Guadeloupe (201), and then with South America (126), Puerto Rico (113), Cuba (107), and Mexico-Central America (108). The Antillean island chain probably represents the main avenue of natural overwater dispersal via intermediate stepping-stone islands. The distributional patterns of the species shared with Dominica and elsewhere in the Caribbean suggest stages in a dynamic taxon cycle of species origin, range expansion, distribution contraction, and re-speciation. Introduction and Background on Proposed Action This biological assessment (BA) has been prepared by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) to evaluate the potential effects on federally-listed threatened and endangered species and designated critical habitat from the movement of baled garbage and regulated (domestic) garbage (GRG) from the State of Hawaii for disposal at landfills in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. Specifically, garbage is defined as urban (commercial and residential) solid waste from municipalities in Hawaii, excluding incinerator ash and collections of agricultural waste and yard waste. Regulated (domestic) garbage refers to articles generated in Hawaii that are restricted from movement to the continental United States under various quarantine regulations established to prevent the spread of plant pests (including insects, disease, and weeds) into areas where the pests are not prevalent. -

ARMY, HAWAII Kwajalein Atoll is located in the Ralik (Sunset or Western) Chain of the Marshall Islands in the West Central Pacific Ocean. It is 2100 nautical miles southwest of San Francisco. Lying less than 700 miles north of the Equator, Kwajalein is in the latitude of Panama and the southern Philippines; it is in the longitude of New Zealand, 2300 miles south, and the Kamchatka Peninsula, USSR, 2600 miles north. Kwajalein Atoll is of coral reef formation in the shape of a crescent loop enclosing a lagoon. Situated on the reef are approximately 100 small islands, with a total land area of only 5.6 square miles (3584 acres). The three largest islets, Kwajalein (1.2 square miles), Roi-Namur and Ebadon, at the extremities of the Atoll, account for nearly half the total land area. While the typical size of the remaining isles may be about 140 by 225 m, the smallest islands are no more than sand cays that merely break the water's surface at high tide. The lagoon enclosed by the reef is the world's largest lagoon, having a surface area of 902 square miles. The Atoll's longest dimension is 75 miles from Kwajalein to Ebadon, and its average width is about 15 miles. Kwajalein Islet at the Atoll's southern tip and Roi-Namur at its northern extremity are 50 miles apart. All islets are flat and few natural points exceed 15 feet above mean sea level; those which do are sand dunes. -
