It was the first time a Saints’ netminder made more than 40 saves in a game since Kyle Hayton stopped 42 against Minnesota on October 29, 2016. • The Saints dressed just 15 skaters on Saturday after a barrage of injuries left the team without an available fourth line of forwards. St. Lawrence added first-year forward Eddie Pavlini to the roster this week. Pavlini was playing for the St. Lawrence club team and spent last season in the EHL. • No. 5/6 Cornell is the last unbeaten team in Division I at 6-0-0 and earned four first- place votes in the polls this week. Alex McCrea helped keep the Big Red unbeaten with the game-winning goal against Harvard on Saturday with 1.4 seconds remaining. Goal- tender Matthew Galajda is the reigning ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week. • No. 19 Colgate is unbeaten in its last seven games (4-0-3) and is coming off a weekend sweep of Harvard and Dartmouth with a pair of one-goal wins, 2-1 and 3-2 respectively. St. Lawrence officially opens the 2008-09 campaign Friday, October 10 as it visits Yost Arena to take on defending CCHA postseason and NCAA Frozen Four participant Michigan in Ann Arbor. Coach Joe Marsh's Saints battle the Wolverines in a two-game season-opening series. Each school will also have a legendary hockey alum as an honorary captain — both of whom are Quebec natives. Rensselaer will be represented by Joe Juneau, a two-time All-American who scored 213 career points for the Engineers prior to embarking on a 13-year National Hockey League career. Serving as UVM's honorary captain is Martin St. Louis, Vermont's all-time leading scorer and a three-time All-American and winner of the NHL's Hart, Ross, and Pearson trophies in 2004. • Dear Raider Nation
2/1/2018 CAC Newsletter - 1.16.18 Trouble viewing this email? Click here Tuesday, January 16, 2018 Dear Raider Nation, "Old Man Winter" has been on the move and seems to have followed me to the NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee and Division I Council meetings in Indianapolis. I hope to leave him here when I return to Hamilton. While walking through an airport, I saw a T-shirt with "OWN THE COLD" and I wanted to buy it for all of our coaches and student-athletes who have been training and competing during winter break. They are certainly owning the cold and happy to be competing in maroon and white! Both our men's and women's ice hockey teams are nationally ranked (women #4 and men #19) and continuing to compete successfully in one of the best and most competitive ice hockey conferences in the country. We are VERY happy to have Colton Point back with his Raider family. Congratulations to Colton and Team Canada for winning the IIHF World Junior Championships! Most in Canada would agree that the Junior Championships event is as popular if not more so than the Winter Olympic Games. Thanks to Colton, Colgate University was mentioned at least once a day for two months throughout Canada and by every media outlet around the world during the world junior championships. Women's hockey sits in a first-place tie with defending national champion Clarkson at 10-2-0 in the conference. We knocked off the Golden Knights 4-3 in overtime at their place back in late October.
