College Union Annual Report 2017-18 COLLEGE UNION ANNUAL REPORT 2017-18 The election to the College Union is conducted in accordance with the provisions contained in the Rules of Election given by the University. The union executive members are elected from the class representatives who are elected through the secret ballot. The union consists of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, General Secretary, two University Union Councillors, Arts Club Secretary and Student Editor. All students related activities are carried out under the leadership of the College Union, advised and facilitated by the Staff Advisors. OATH TAKING CEREMONY Oath taking ceremony of the College Union was conducted on 19 th August 2017. Dr. T.M Joseph, Principal administered the Ceremony. COLLEGE UNION INAUGURATION The activities of the college union 2017-2018 were inaugurated by Smt. M C Josephine on 8-11-2017. ANNUAL SPORTS MEET The Sports events are planned and executed by the college union with the guidance of Physical Education Department. This year our playfields were active with so many competitions and training programmes. Students from all the departments participated in the Mach Past which was also a competition item of this sports meet. March past Malayalam II Physics III INTER DEPARTMENTAL COMPETITIONS Department wise Competitions of football, basketball, volleyball, shuttle badminton, cricket, chess, tug of war, arm wrestling etc. were conducted. Many Students participated in all the events with good sportsman spirit. ONAM CELEBRATIONS Onam was celebrated with great enthusiasm in a traditional manner. The students were in traditional attire and decorated the campus with pookolam. As part of the celebrations competitions like Thiruvatira, Onampattu and making of Flower carpet were organized for the students. CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS Christmas was celebrated with much joy and enthusiasm by the staff and students. Students showcased their creativity by making and decorating beautiful Christmas trees and Cribs. Best Santa Clause and carol song competitions were also held. COLLEGE ARTS FEST- 2017 Under the leadership of arts club and cultural committee the college arts fest was conducted by organizing around 40 cultural competitions. All the departments participated in the events with great enthusiasm. The competitions were organized abiding the norms and conditions put forward by M. G. University. Rejuvenation therapy helps for longevity, memory, intellect, positive health, youth, excellent complexion and strength of sensory organs. Main aim of this therapy is to maintain the youth of the individual along with the maintaining of his long life. It is a costly affair but the enjoyment derived is maximum. It is expected by the Tourism Department that in 2021, 30 Lakhs foreign tourists and 180 Lakhs domestic tourists visit Kerala. According to Kerala Tourism statistics, Foreign tourist arrivals to Kerala in 2014 showed an increase of 7.60% compared to the previous year.

    ANNUAL ACTIVITY REPORT 2016-2017 The South Zone Cultural Centre at Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu was established as a Society under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, came into existence on 31st January 1986 with the objective to integrate people of India through Culture, art and heritage. The Centre has jurisdiction over the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Puducherry. During the year 2016-17 SZCC, in association with the Member States, has arranged around 169 programmes. More than 10,414 artistes from various parts of the country have been paid for their participation in various programmes conducted during the year. These programmes could be conducted successfully with the active participation and support of each Member State. Some of the programmes organised are highlighted below: ANNUAL ACTIVITY REPORT AND REVIEW OF THE PROGRAMMES CONDUCTED DURING THE YEAR 2016-2017 During the Year 2016-17 the South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur has conducted 169 Cultural Programmes in which 10414 artistes have participated. It is to be supplemented with programmes for additional development that will ensure that students obtain a quality education.     MG University Rules Youth Festival Rules 1. These rules may be called MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY YOUTH FESTIVAL RULES 2019. 2. In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires, o a) “Act” means Mahatma Gandhi University Act, 1985, with subsequent amendments. o b) “College” means any educational institution maintained by, or affiliated to, the Mahatma Gandhi University. o c) “Judge” means a person appointed to pronounce decision in a contest or competition. 3. Maximum number of individual item s, allowed for one student to participate is strictly limited to 5 (five). 4. Only a single student can participate in an individual item from a college 5. For the group items, each college can send only one team. Each college is allowed to participate o nly in a maximum of 6 (six) group items, out of 11 (eleven) group items in the competitions. (One Act Play is excluded from the group items. Each college is allowed to send their one act play team separately. 6. Any complaint regarding the selection of candidates for the University Youth Festival shall be referred to the Committee and the decision of the Committee shall be final. 7. The entry forms should contain the name, class, address, mobile phone number and Email id of the competitors. For the group items, names of all the participants shall be furnished. 8. Every participant, including the members of the group items shall bring their College Identity Cards to participate in the youth festival and the Professor-in-charge of the contingent should have an authorization letter signed by the Principal of the concerned college with him to meet any urgent situation.
