  • The Theology of Eckankar: Its Critique and Study Based on the Islamic Teachings
INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL & SCIENCE EDUCATION 2017, VOL. 12, NO. 4, 799-816 OPEN ACCESS The theology of Eckankar: Its critique and study based on the Islamic teachings Dr. Abdolreza Mahmoudi Assistant professor of Islamic Education Department, School of Medicine, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran ABSTRACT The present paper deals with theology from the point of view of the school of Eckankar and its critique based on the Islamic teachings. Three major topics are probed into in the school of Eckankar, i.e. the definition of religion, the origin of religion, and exclusiveness. On the topic of the definition of religion, Eckankar essentially regards as a religious experience in its common sense in the western culture. Therefore religion is an experience that the individual passes in him, and observing rituals such as going to the church are not regarded as faithfulness. From the point of view of Islamic teachings such an attitude causes the reduction of the values of the epistemic role of religion, while in Islam the epistemic aspects are very strong. On the topic of the origin of religion, once again the Eckankar School regards religion as the individual’s personal experiences .Therefore, based on the multiplicity of the individual’s religious experiences; religions will be multiple as well. Islamic teachings regard personal experiences as based on divine nature, but does not agree with the religious multiplicity as multiplicity in the legitimacy as regarded by the Eckankar School. The concluding part of this of this paper is the topic of religious exclusiveness of which the Eckankar School is a fervent advocate, but yet there are many contradictory points in the contents of the speeches of the supporters of this school.

  • The Impact of the Modernity Discourse on Persian Fiction
The Impact of the Modernity Discourse on Persian Fiction Dissertation Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Doctor of Comparative Studies in the Graduate School of The Ohio State University By Saeed Honarmand, M.A. Graduate Program in Comparative Studies The Ohio State University 2011 Dissertation Committee: Richard Davis, Advisor Margaret Mills Philip Armstrong Copyright by Saeed Honarmand 2011 Abstract Modern Persian literature has created a number of remarkable works that have had great influence on most middle class people in Iran. Further, it has had representation of individuals in a political context. Coming out of a political and discursive break in the late nineteenth century, modern literature began to adopt European genres, styles and techniques. Avoiding the traditional discourses, then, became one of the primary characteristics of modern Persian literature; as such, it became closely tied to political ideologies. Remarking itself by the political agendas, modern literature in Iran hence became less an artistic source of expression and more as an interpretation of political situations. Moreover, engaging with the political discourse caused the literature to disconnect itself from old discourses, namely Islamism and nationalism, and from people with dissimilar beliefs. Disconnectedness was already part of Iranian culture, politics, discourses and, therefore, literature. However, instead of helping society to create a meta-narrative that would embrace all discourses within one national image, modern literature produced more gaps. Historically, there had been three literary movements before the modernization process began in the late nineteenth century. Each of these movements had its own separate discourse and historiography, failing altogether to provide people ii with one single image of a nation.

  • 2020 Perspective of Tourist Guides in Chennai – Scope for Future Generation
PERSPECTIVE OF TOURIST GUIDES IN CHENNAI - SCOPE FOR FUTURE GENERATION Synopsis submitted to Madurai Kamaraj University for the award of the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN TOURISM MANAGEMENT By OBED JACKSON. R REGISTRATION NUMBER: P4646 Under the Guidance of Dr B. ZOBEDHA Assistant Professor Department of Hotel Management and Catering Science Madurai Kamaraj University College Madurai : 625 002. MADURAI KAMARAJ UNIVERSITY Madurai : 625 021, Tamil Nadu INDIA JANUARY – 2020 PERSPECTIVE OF TOURIST GUIDES IN CHENNAI – SCOPE FOR FUTURE GENERATION SYNOPSIS Introduction Tour guides play many roles within the tourism industry and for the tourists who they engage. Tour guides are frontline professionals who have the potential to manage the tourists experience and enhance destination image (Rabotić, 2010). The exact role of the tour guide may vary by destination, but the literature has provided some common roles. Cohen (1985) proposed four communicative roles of the tour guide, including selection, information, interpretation, and fabrication. The first role, selection, refers to the input that the tour guide has in selecting the location and itinerary for tours that they will guide - including what will be shown and what will not be shown. This is particularly poignant in a communist country like Cuba where the government allows only licensed guides to share places and information with foreigners. All tour guides in Cuba were state approved which means they likely had little input into the design of tours or the ability to go off script and itinerary to show tourists unsanctioned parts of the country. The second role of information providers has tour guides as giving knowledge to travelers about varying facets of the destination.

  • Relations of the Sufis with the Rulers of Deccan (14^" -17^" Centuries)
RELATIONS OF THE SUFIS WITH THE RULERS OF DECCAN (14^" -17^" CENTURIES) ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS SUBMITTED FOR THE AWARD OF THE DEGREE OF Bottor of ^I)Uo£iopI)p IN HISTORY BY FATIMA MARYAM UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF PROF. TARIQ AHMED CENTRE OF ADVANCED STUDY DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY ALIGARH-202002 (INDIA) 2012 ABSTRACT Scope of the work: This thesis studies the emergence of Muslim culture in the medieval Deccan with a particular focus on the impact of various Sufi orders. It charts their spread in the Deccan, studies the establishment of khanqahs in various cities and analyses the attitude of different orders vis-a-vis the medieval ruling elite. The study takes into account a broad time-span which begins with the foundation of the Bahmani kingdom in 1347, covers the period of the succession states that emerged on the debris of the Bahmani kingdom, and ends with the disintegration and Mughal conquest of the last surviving independent kingdoms of Bijapur and Golconda in 1686 and 1687 respectively. In this long time-span the thesis notices the flowering of several Sufi orders: some major orders such as the Chishtis and the Qadiris, and also those who had a comparatively limited popularity in the Deccan such as Shattaris, Junaidis, Nimatullahis and Naqshbandis. All these orders had slight differences in their trajectories of thought and in their stance towards the temporal authorities. The study of these differences remains the main focus of my study. The region of Deccan became a fertile ground for mystics even before the Muslim political annexation began, and the process received an impetus during the Tughlaq period.
