A City Journal contributing editor, he is the author of Philanthropy Under Fire (2013) and a contributor to Forbes.com. From 1987 through 2006, Husock was director of case studies in public policy and management at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, where he was also a fellow at the Hauser Center on Nonprofit Organizations.     How the Survey was Conducted Nature of the Sample: WSJ/NBC NY/Marist Poll of 1,421 New York City Adults This survey of 1,421 New York City adults was conducted June 17th through June 21st, 2013. Adults 18 years of age and older residing in New York City were interviewed by telephone. Telephone numbers were selected based upon a list of telephone exchanges from throughout the city. The exchanges were selected to ensure that each borough was represented in proportion to its population. To increase coverage, this landline sample was supplemented by respondents reached through random dialing of cell phone numbers. The samples were then combined and balanced to reflect the 2010 Census results for age, gender, income, race, and borough. Interviews were conducted in both English and Spanish. Results for adults are statistically significant within ±2.6 percentage points. There are 1,118 registered voters. Results for this subset are statistically significant within ±2.9 percentage points. There are 689 Democrats and 123 Republicans. The results for these subsets are statistically significant within ±3.7 percentage points for Democrats and ±8.8 percentage points for Republicans. There are 361 likely Democratic voters defined by a probability turnout model. This model determines the likelihood respondents will vote in the 2013 Democratic Primary for mayor based upon their chance of vote, interest in the election, and past primary participation.
