  • The Convoluted Road of the Communist Party of Albania: 1941-1948
E-ISSN 2281-4612 Academic Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies Vol 3 No 6 ISSN 2281-3993 MCSER Publishing, Rome-Italy November 2014 The Convoluted Road of the Communist Party of Albania: 1941-1948 Etleva Babameto PhD Candidate at the State University of Tirana [email protected] Doi:10.5901/ajis.2014.v3n6p117 Abstract The Communist Party of Albania, later converted into the Labor Party and subsequently into the Socialist Party, was the only political party ever in Albania until the end of the Cold War leading it upon extreme isolation. As such, it stirs up special consideration. Precisely, this paper is focused on tracing the road accomplished by the Communist Party of Albania from its foundation in 1941 to its derogation into the Labor Party of Albania in 1948. It deals with factors which determined its foundation, its role in the National Liberation movement, its legitimacy, its relations with the Communist Party of Yugoslavia and their implications upon Albanian people. Moreover, the analysis of relations with the Communist Party of Yugoslavia places a significant role in the history of the Communist Party of Albania given that it was founded and controlled through the Yugoslav emissaries in line with the goals, interests and policies of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia. Yet, the journey of the Communist Party of Albania cannot be considered detached from national and international situation, namely the other resistance groups, the influence of international factor, strategic importance and attention paid to this country in the context of the Second World War and evolution following the developments both at national and international level in the course of the war years and beyond.

The improvement of relations between Yugoslavia and Albania, affected Kosovo to start the collaboration for which Kosovo waited for approximately 20 years. The relations after 1968, should be seen from several perspectives between Yugoslavia and Albania. First of all some of the major factors which encouraged a decent beginning were the circumstances created in Czechoslovakia after the Soviet Union invasion. Albania’s reaction was immediate, which supported Yugoslavia during the invasion. The second factor are the Albanians from Kosovo, to whom Albania with Enver Hoxha’s influence had started to play the nationalistic card namely, national-communism. Thirdly, Tito’s attempts were clear after Plenum of Brione, he wanted to balance the politic between Yugoslavia and various clans but also different nations and nationalities. In the meantime, the roots of the relations between Kosovo and Albania date from 1966, the beginning of this relation were the market trades which opened the road for further cooperation in education and culture between Kosovo and Albania. In this research we have been focused on elaborating the scientific collaboration of these two countries, the effects, the results and the cultural activities that were held in this important year for the Albanians in general.

It reflects events he lived through, his personal impressions, and gives conclusions, which provide lessons for all periods, drawn from the hostile activity carried out openly or behind the scenes, against our National Liberation Movement, our people's revolution and socialist Albania by the Anglo-American bourgeoisie. It brings out clearly the clash between the diabolical plans, attempts, manoeuvres and concrete activities of Anglo-American imperialism to put Albania under its sway, on the one hand, and the vigilance, the blow for blow struggle of the Communist Party of Albania and its General Secretary, the leader of the Army and the National Liberation Front and the whole patriotic Alba• nian people, Comrade Enver Hoxha, on the other hand, to discover, unmask, defeat and destroy the imperialist strategy and tactics in regard to Albania. These memoirs now being published, were written in 1975. The book is available in Albanian and several foreign languages. 3 I A LITTLE HISTORY Albania — a token for barter for the «Brit- ish Lion». • Feature of the Communist Movement in the Region of Elbasan
European Scientific Journal November edition vol.25 ISSN 1857- 7431 FEATURE OF THE COMMUNIST MOVEMENT IN THE REGION OF ELBASAN Sokol Gjevori, Msc. Lira Gjevori, Msc. University of Elbasan, Albania Abstract: Elbasan’s region during the 30s of the twentieth century was involved by spreading the wave of communist and fascist doctrines. Fascist doctrine did not find sufficient conditions for spreading them, because it considered, during the Second World War, by the Albanian people, as a doctrine that came along with the Italian invaders with expansionist goals to state. While the Communist movement, although in Albania spread later than in other European countries, found the ground and spread by having a significant impact on subsequent historical developments in the region of Elbasan. In the performance of the communist movement in the region of Elbasan influenced several important factors. Political, social and economic factors were among the major who had an impact on the spread of communist ideas with them and the movement that carried these ideas. Elbasan’s women have played an important role in the national liberation struggle. Their contribution has been not only the distribution of tracts, to aid in the collection of weapons, munitions, but also to accommodate the young ones putting their lives at risk to national and social liberation. The resistance of these women and girls was the most different forms. In the city of Elbasan were engaged a considerable number of women and girls as participating in this war. Among the first activists were Persefoni Todri, Virgjini Bishka, etc. Their activity extended among the students of Pedagogical, the factory workers 'SAIDE', and the tobacco factory.
