BRIEF SUMMARY of PROJECT Ultratech Cement Limited (UTCL)

BRIEF SUMMARY OF PROJECT

UltraTech Cement Limited (UTCL) (Unit : Pataliputra Cement Works) has an exising cement grinding unit of 2.0 MTPA capacity at Shajhanpur, Maksudpur & Hurari Villages, & Karai Parsurai Tehsils, & Districts of State. UltraTech is manufacturing Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), Protland Pozzolona Cement (PPC) & Portland Slag Cement (PSC) from the plant. UTCL proposes for expansion of existing cement grinding unit from 2.0 MTPA to 4.0 MTPA within the same premises.

A. Location of the Project UTCL proposes to expand the grinding unit capacity from 2.0 MTPA to 4.0 MTPA. The site falls between 25°24'02.91"N- 85°16'54.85"E, and 25°23'32.23"N- 85°17'52.30"E, with an average altitude of 52 m above MSL. The State Highway (SH-4) connecting Patna to Gaya is located at a distance of about 0.8 km in Western direction. The National Highway (NH-30A) connecting Patna – is located at a distance of about 3.0 km in NE direction, the nearest railway station is located at Sigariyawan RS which is 1.3 km in NE direction. Milik Hunrari (0.5 km – S) & Saidpura (0.5 km – S) are the nearest habitations to the plant site.

B. Land Availability ; UTCL has acquired an area of 125.0 Ac. UTCL is presently having 2.0 MTPA capacity Cement Grinding Unit in the same land. Proposed expansion will be located within the same premises.

C. Water Requirement ; The present water requirement of the plant is 250 m3/day and is sourced from ground water within the plant site. Additional Water requirement for the proposal is 200 m3/day which is totaling to 450 m3/day. Water is sourced from ground water. UTCL has obtained Central Ground water Board permission for extracting 500 m3/day of ground water.

D. Water Pollution Management ; No process wastewater generation from the plant. Domestic wastewater generated from the plant will be treated in septic tank followed by soak pit.

E. Air Pollution Management ; In the plant, due to the transportation activity and vehicular movements, fugitive emission of dust particles will be there. Dust suppression will be done by water sprinkling during the above mentioned activities. Apart from the dust suppression measures, 12 bag filters are proposed at various transfer points. Bag Filters will be installed to control Particulate Matter emission generated from grinding unit.

F. Solid Waste Management ; The cement dust obtained from various pollution control devices shall be recycled and reused in the process and there will be no solid wastes in the plant.

G. Cost of the Project : Total cost of the proposed expansion project will be approx. Rs. 168.25 Crores.
