With its distinctive shape and totally individual character the 911 has appealed to driving enthusiasts since its introduction in 1963. In 1989 the first major update resulted in the 964 model in the four-wheel drive Carrera 4 (Built on the experience of the Porsche 959). A year later followed the two-wheel drive Carrera 2. Production of these cars ran from 1989 up until 1993 and the introduction of the 993. During this period some 3,692 were imported into the United Kingdom. Although over 85% of the components had been redesigned, the body style remain faithful to the classic lines of the 911. Improved aerodynamics using knowledge gained from Le Mans winning 959 and 962, reduced the drag coefficient to 0.32, and with virtually zero lift greatly improved stability and road holding at high speed. A retractable rear spoiler automatically extends at 50mph and whilst increasing the downforce also doubles the volume of air intake for improved engine cooling. The spoiler automatically retracts at below 60 mph. The capacity of the famous flat six engine increased to 3.6 Litres. Gained twin spark ignition and become the most powerful normally aspirated 911 production engine with 250 bhp and 310 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm, 0-60 coming up in just over 5 seconds and a top speed of 162 mph Tiptronic Electro-hydraulically controlled 4 speed transmission was as an option for the first time, giving the combination of manual and automatic gear selection being supplemented by immediate up or down gear selection by 'tipping' the gear lever forward or backwards. -

Das Rennen hat uns einiges an Zeit und Nerven gekostet und wir wollten Ihnen eigentlich schon mit dieser Info neue Modelle von dem Rennen anbieten. Aufgrund einiger noch zu führender Verhandlungen müssen wir die Präsentation der 2016er Modelle ein wenig verschieben und auch Spark und Minichamps haben noch keine Informationen über die 2016er Autos verlauten lassen. Das Rennen selbst war spannend und sehr abwechslungsreich; die Unterbrechung nach wenigen Runden aufgrund des heftigen Unwetters mit Regen, Gewitter & Hagelschauer war ebenso ungewöhnlich wie der knappe Zieleinlauf mit wenigen Sekunden Vorsprung und der Führungswechsel in der letzten Runde. Es waren wieder einige sehr schöne Fahrzeuge dabei und auch das Kremer Team, erfolgreich auf dem 21. Gesamtplatz ohne Störungen angekommen, fuhr wieder mit MINI AUTO und Spark Werbung durch die Grüne Hölle… Genug mit Rennsport, widmen wir uns -

Press Release August 04, 2015 No. 79/15 Porsche Classic programme for the classic car race at the Nürburgring Porsche celebrates 30 years of the 959 at the Oldtimer Grand Prix 2015 Stuttgart. With an exhibition of numerous super sports and race cars, Porsche will be celebrating the 30th birthday of the 959 at the 43rd AvD-Oldtimer Grand Prix (OGP) on the Nürburgring from 7 to 9 August 2015. Among other vehicles, Porsche will be bringing the legendary winning vehicle of the Paris-Dakar rally to the Eifel, flanked by its successors, the Carrera GT and 918 Spyder. Rounding off the appearance will be a 919 Hybrid, which recently secured the 17th overall victory for Porsche at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Another highlight awaits visitors from 2.00 pm on Saturday 8 August in the Porsche Classic exhibition tent: motor racing legend Jacky Ickx is coming to give an interview followed by an autograph session. An expert team from Porsche Classic will be offering owners of historic Porsche models assistance on issues of repair and selecting suitable parts. Porsche Classic currently has more than 52,000 original parts and accessories, such as the new Porsche Classic radio navigation system. Specially developed for Porsche, it combines state-of-the-art technology with classic design and fits into all classic models with a 1-DIN slot. Also on display at the Porsche site covering more than 14,000 square metres will be the drivetrain of a recently rediscovered 901 from 1964 and vehicles from the Porsche Museum. Added to this will be exhibits from Porsche Exclusive and Tequipment as well as the event truck from the Porsche Driver’s Selection featuring the current collection. -
