For this purpose, the material collected from the area between the years 2005 and 2009, within the framework of different projects, was investigated. The investigation of the material taken from various biotopes ranging at depths between 0 and 100 m resulted in identification of 286 mollusc species and 27542 specimens belonging to them. Among the encountered species, Vitreolina cf. perminima (Jeffreys, 1883) is new record for the Turkish molluscan fauna and 18 species are being new records for the Turkish Levantine coast. A checklist of Iskenderun mollusc fauna is given based on the present study and the studies carried out beforehand, and a total of 424 moluscan species are known to be distributed in Iskenderun Bay. Aceptado el 10-XI-2010 ABSTRACT Species-level taxonomy is reviewed for the Mediterranean Cerithiopsidae with a sculpture formed by two rows of beads. The two previously known species are assigned respectively to Dizoniopsis coppolae (Aradas, 1870) and D. concatenata (Conti, 1864) and are held as distinct from the fossil type species Dizoniopsis bilineata (Hörnes, 1848). Two addi- tional species, which are found sympatrically with these in the Strait of Gibraltar, are des- cribed as new. Dizoniopsis micalii Cecalupo and Villari 1997 is reassigned to the genus Cerithiopsis. RESUMEN Se revisa la taxonomía de las especies mediterráneas de Cerithiopsidae con escultura for- mada por dos filas de gránulos. Las dos especies previamente conocidas se asignan res- pectivamente a Dizoniopsis coppolae (Aradas, 1870) y D. concatenata (Conti, 1864) y se consideran distintas de la especie tipo fósil Dizoniopsis bilineata (Hörnes, 1848). Dos especies adicionales, que se encuentran en el estrecho de Gibraltar en simpatría con las anteriores, se describen como nuevas. New Gastropod Records for the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and One New
Manousis and Galinou-Mitsoudi Journal of Biological Research-Thessaloniki 2014, 21:20 http://www.jbiolres.com/content/21/1/20 RESEARCH Open Access New gastropod records for the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and one new alien (Emarginula decorata Deshayes, 1863) for the Mediterranean Sea from NW Aegean Sea, Greece Thanasis Manousis1† and Sofia Galinou-Mitsoudi2*† Abstract Background: The NW Aegean Sea has a complex topography, high quality waters, oligotrophic to eutrophic conditions, is connected with estuaries and wetlands, is of high ecological interest, harbours all the types of human activities and yet few researchers work on its marine biodiversity. With this study, the contribution to the knowledge of the Hellenic and Eastern Mediterranean gastropod biodiversity of the studied families is continued, and an expansion of the search in other substrates and deeper waters of the NW Aegean Sea with emphasis on the minor in size species during the period from October 2008 to January 2014. Results: Thirty seven species belonging to seven families (Cerithiopsidae, Fissurellidae, Phasianellidae, Scissurellidae, Siliquariidae, Skeneidae, and Triphoridae) were identified and their biodiversity was compared with the current checklists of marine gastropod molluscs for the Hellenic Seas based on previous surveys. In this collection of gastropods, one species (Emarginula decorata Deshayes, 1863) is a new alien for the Mediterranean Sea, 14 species are new for the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and 16 species are new for the Hellenic fauna (with the one above mentioned alien species included). The main identification characteristics and ecological information such as habitat, distribution, alien expansion paths to the NW Aegean Sea and origin of the species are given and discussed. -

The compilation of the available references revealed a total of 1065 species belonging to 7 classes (Caudofoveata, Solenogastres, Polyplacophora, Gastropoda, Bivalvia, Scaphopoda, and Cephalopoda). Most of the reported species belong to the class Gastropoda (706 species), followed by Bivalvia (279 species), Cephalopoda (50 species), Polyplacophora (17 species), Scaphopoda (10 species), Caudofoveata (2 species), and Solenogastres (1 species). Among the coasts of Turkey, the highest number of molluscan species was recorded from the Aegean Sea (825 species), followed by the Levantine Sea (807 species), Sea of Marmara (537 species), and the Black Sea (155 species). Of the 1065 mollusc taxa, 118 species are alien ones that originated outside the Mediterranean Sea. Among the listed species, Timoclea roemeriana (Bivalvia), and Sepiola ligulata and Abraliopsis morisii (both from Cephalopoda) are new records for the Turkish mollusc fauna, 11 species of the classes Polyplacophora, Gastropoda, and Bivalvia (Leptochiton boettgeri, Cerithium protractum, Similiphora similior, Cerithiopsis diadema, Rissoa guerinii, Crepidula moulinsii, Crepidula unguiformis, Bela zenetouae, Doto coronata, Lima marioni, and Limaria loscombi) are new reports for the Levantine coast of Turkey, and 2 gastropod species (Acirsa subdecussata and Monotygma lauta) are new reports for the Aegean coast of Turkey. -
New Marine Gastropod Records for the Hellenic Waters

This study contributes to the knowledge of the Hellenic marine gastropod biodiversity, expanding data over the entire Greek territory, during the period from Octo‑ ber 2008 to March 2017. Results: This work presents 45 species of gastropods not previously reported from Greece or reported only once, belonging to 19 families. From those species, one (Horologica sp.) is, most probably, an undescribed species, 17 are new for the Eastern Mediterranean Sea and 40 are new for the Hellenic fauna. Main taxonomic characteristics and ecological information such as habitat, distribution and origin, are given and discussed. Conclusions: By this report, the Hellenic gastropod biodiversity is enriched by 40 new records, out of which, 17 are new for the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, 4 are Lessepsian migrants previously reported for the Mediterranean Sea and 1 is probably a new species. Abstract: Two new species of Cerithiopsis from Sao Tomé Islands are described and compared with similar congeners. Introduction: Information on the Cerithiopsidae from West Africa is scarce and dispersed. Some records appear in general works: Femandes & Rolan (1993) give all known information, including that from Tomlin & Shackleford (1914, 1915). Rolan (2007) described a new species of Dizoniopsis from the islands of the Gulf of Guinea showing the species from these islands previously known as Cerithiopsis and Metaxia, because the endemic species in the latter genus was described as a Cerithiopsis (Rolan & Femandes, 1991). In sediments from deeper water, collected during a recent trip, species of two undescribed Cerithiopsis were found and their description is the object of the present paper.
